- Found some free bvh mocap files on the web and tested them out on this minecraft's character model which I created. Added some sounds and got this funny result :)

The way his head squishes makes him look like a guy in a suit!
Nice! Keep up the good work, varsti oled mõne mängu animaator veel
His head is kinda distorted but other than that love it
“Bro Steve will never be ballin”

@Apterygiformes
that's simple actually. import the bvh file into blender- go to bone options and give the bvh rig rest pose(there are 2 buttons side by side, one is rest pose). now move your minecraft character so it pretty much covers the bvh rig. Then go to edit mode with the bvh rig and move the bones around to fit the char. its okay to move them, but make sure you dont unparent anything. changeo to pose mode- select your character mesh-shift select bvh rig-ctrl+p-automatic weights.
@TheTiivik and then check the other button next to "rest pose" you selected earlier. dont exactly remember what it was, just pose or something. good luck =D
His head looks like a jelly :)
this was achieved in blender
:P
@monkeyis10 yeap :) there was no ball included in the mocap so let's say this is "Air basketball" like those "Air guitar" guys =D
@snowbell01 yes but 1 kinect sensor can operate on its own, if I would go for ps3 eyes, I would have to buy 3-4 of these
@StilcLaN this was done with blender and with a free bvh motion capture file. this is is not showing my animation skill that much. just a test for mocap
@TheTiivik yes they do.
What the hEck? His head wobbles, that guy has problems
duh its a motion capture... meaning its a real person's movements.. it wont be perfect
@AlecMartinezTv
I'm having an minecraft type short film coming in the future, then I try to include a breakdown video so people can give a look how things were created. But I can't comment here how this was made because that would need a longer explanation ;)
@TheTiivik oh, well then i guess the kinect would be a better choice lol
@xTheUnrealGamer mhm :)
@Apterygiformes yeah I did some research on home made mocap and found out that there was already program meant for kinect or ps3 eye cams for mocap. Do they sell cameras separately, because I wouldn't want to buy a whole console, just the cam?
@friik100 mnja tore oleks =D
@TheTiivik id buy ps3 eye toy they like 50 bucks, the kinect is like 180 bucks,
how you did the camera work please ?
it folows the character movement
how do i apply it on there tho
When you have some bvh mocap data then you can position it into the character as good as possible and then parent the character to the rig based on automatic weights (select character, select rig, Ctrl-P and select automatic weights).
TheTiivik which rig should i use?
ReflexFX ᴍᴏᴛɪᴏɴ ᴅᴇsɪɢɴ Do you mean a premade character rig or mocap data?
TheTiivik premade character rig
TheTiivik i want to know how to make the character thing
please give me the steve bvh
I meant rig sorry
clecho52 sorry I don't have the files anymore. You can Google for bvh motion capture files and then attach those to your characters.
I need the character I have kinect nut I need a bit help with attaching them to a character
+clecho52 okay so I think you could benefit from googling for a rig ( search for VMComix rig for example ). That should give you a good start. You can download the character as well as the rig that will control the poses of the character. Not sure how Kinect comes into play here- can you record motion capture with Kinect sensors?
TheTiivik yes
