The song is badass. I understand how some people were expecting something different, but I've learned to only expect quality music and emotion, so I'm loving it.

Draconian for me (and I’m a fan since ‘99) is all about catharsis.
I feel like this song is a transition in their album, to something more lyrical.
Old school draconian fans of course have the nostalgia of songs like “Death Come Near Me” or “The Cry Of Silence”, but we all love the melody of that slowly bleeding guitar, reminiscing about its regrets.
This song feels like a transition towards this feeling, or from it. We never know...hope died a long time ago. All we have are memories stabbing our hearts.

I think that the song do have the "draconian" sound with a lot of layers. BUT, to be honest, it is as some others have said, it's more simple than the previous albums (which necessarily doesn't need to mean bad). I was expecting a way more "bold" and "big" track, but I think that those tracks will appear in the album too (I hope).
I would however love if they used her vocals with more power on this track instead of her having the soothing and "low" vocals. I am not saying it's bad as it is right now, I still love it. But I would like it even more if they used her voice a bit more in this track so to speak :)
Soooo looking forward for the album, it's crazy! Draconian are just making masterpieces, love it!

The song you are describing is a complete different track, that would take 8-10 minutes to pull it off. The simplicity is there, but in it simplicity lies the complexity of the emotional journey it holds.
@@APREACTS I do agree with you. It is a different type of song, and that do perhaps take more time to pull off. And I am always longing for the emotional journey that Draconian brings me on, and this song was no exception :)

[EDIT] I am really looking forward to this album. For today I have the new Sojourner Album. They were actually one of the support bands to Draconian when I saw then live last year.

That’s a great review from you chaps. I am not generally a fan or female fronted or co lead singers in metal bands, but with draconian they just do it so well. (The only other band would be Trees Of Eternity.)
I pre ordered the new album before listening to this new song and the next few months will be torture! But I think well worth the wait.

This is a wonderful song though, I love it. So melodic, heavy and kind of dark and gloomy. It only makes me wish for the whole album so much more. I'll continue to wait very patiently, I'm sure this coming album will be yet another masterpiece by my favorite band ever.

Epica my all time favourites, but Draconian are catching up fast. Heike is glorious, a hint of Sharon from Within Temptation, but over a proper heavy backing. Loved Sovran and looking forward to the next one

Do not confuse what I am going to say: It is a good song with a great atmosphere but compositionally and lyrically it is simpler than his previous albums.
Simple is not always bad, this song is catchy and hooky and that comes from its simplicity. I am sure there will be bigger and bolder tracks to come.

This sounds like it'll be a filler track for the album. Definitely has echoes of Arcane Rain Fell but far too short. I'm hoping it'll be a complete story album like Plague of Butterflies by Swallow the Sun.
