Thanks for the video Craigo, I'm literally binging all your channel - you absolutely smashed it! Just wanted to share my 2 cents with you on the gratification I'm also gaining from passing OT exams.. I moved to the UK in 2015, got my Master at a business school and gained experience as credit controller and then as business analyst outside the finance function. A year ago I got to a crossroad between what I thought would be my two long-term routes, either data or finance. I got a job as unqualified BA last Feb, gained exemptions for Certificate level and actually smashed the 3 Ops level between mid Mar and mid Nov, all first time. This year I also turned 30yo! Feeling quite nervous of the long timespan between now and my first Case Study next Feb.. My plan is to take E2 right after it. I also have a new partner, managed to go on holidays and a FP&A promotion is looming... Apparently my company will pay for BPP classes from Management level onwards. Just wanted to share my story after getting all your contagious enthusiasm in your videos! Best of luck and I just wanted to say I found P1 super hard, especially without passing my exempted certificate exam. How harder will it get next year?
Incredible message to wake up too! Thank you for your support, the message means a lot! Congrats on your journey, how you got into Finance & a massive well done for ticking through the three OT's so quickly! Honestly I wouldn't worry about the case studies, you seem like an intelligent chap. Just focus on the PEE (Point, Evidence, Explanation) model when it comes to exam day and you'll be just fine! Good look for the remainder of your journey chap, you'll be a CGMA in no time! 😃 CRAIGO
What a beast mate! Should I just solely rely on 'Question banks' for exam prep? As I've been told by many close to me that if you go over the question banks instead of any content you'll fly through these exams?
I couldn’t disagree with that advice mate. At the end of the day you learn to pass the exam by practicing questions, not by remembering all the theory. The theory compliments your ability to answer the questions!
I’m interested in doing a CIMA. Management accounting seems to be my main area of interest. However, I don’t want to spend a matter of years studying something that may have limitations. I’d want to be able to cover all areas of accounting if I’m going to put that time and effort in. Would you say an ACCA would be a more suitable all rounder where you can do management accounting as well as other duties if need be?
ACCA certainly an all rounder vs CIMA, especially if wanting to be able to sign off accounts. I recommend just doing your research? Understanding which one aligns better to your career aspirations and then choosing from there!
I am looking to finish my a-levels, take a gap year, start my CIMA journey and finish it whilst at uni as I want to get a bachelors and a masters alongside. Do you think this is achievable? your videos are great and very informative by the way, keep it going!
I wouldn't do it. If you do a bachelors/masters in accounting you'll be doing a lot of duplication. I would get a bachelors in accounting and then finish CIMA with minimal exams. Job done!
How did you manage to complete the exams quicker with the Kaplan live online schedule? I’ve been looking at it and they don’t seem to follow on from each other very well 😅
Hey...!! Thanks for the video...!! I'm thinking of starting CIMA.... since I've already got a BBA in Acc. and Finance I can get exemptions up to management level... but what I wanna know is that, do I need the knowledge of prior stages (certificate and operational) to face the exams at the top two levels successfully...?
Hey! You will only be granted exemptions if you’ve demonstrated that you’ve already previously learnt the knowledge. You will need to re-learn but nothing should be new to you! Good luck!!
I’ll be honest mate, I didn’t really have a schedule. My schedule was to revise daily. At least 1.5 hours (probably 2) everyday. I made the sacrifices, very very rare did I have a day off! But I would recommend at least 1 hour daily!
Hello, I wanted to know whether CIMA apprenticeship for 4 years after A-Leves is a good route to consider or not? Please may I know what is opinion about it. Have you got degree and then CIMA quailifications? Thanks
I just completed my a levels how long will it take to complete CIMA after A levels including articleship? What else can we add on CIMA to add a cherry on the cake ?
A good target for CIMA is 3 years! Honestly focus on CIMA and get that first. You do not need a 'cherry on top.' Focus on getting good quality work experience with tangible achievements & trust me you'll be fine.
Hi craigo I have entered the management case study route. As I have not studied before Cima any courses can you please recommend how much time should I start studying. I am planning to give exams in August. I have bought astranti stdy materials. Please advise 🙏
I would begin asap, there is a lot of content to study if you go straight in at MCS, the sooner you start re-learning the content, the better! Great choice on Astranti Study Materials :)
Thank you! I studied most with Kaplan, but utilised a lot of Astrantis revision materials 😀 Here is the link in case you’re interested :) astranti.com/amember/aff/go/craigo
Hello man.I am again tell with you.How are you?I want to choose CIMA or ACCA.It will depend on my country also.I am from Uzbekistan. Can u recommend this country as developing in CIMA's way?Plz just check it in browser or other program if it isn't hard for u.
That IS indeed motivating! Question for you if that’s okay, would you recommend the CIMAStudy? I am studying from home and by myself. Do you think the CIMAStudy would be helpful? Would you recommend any other platforms? Thank you!
Thank you Amanda! CIMA Study is something that I believe is new, wasn’t around when I was studying. However it is ran by Kaplan & I thoroughly recommend them! Another company I used for a lot of my revision material was Astranti, be sure to check them out :) astranti.com/amember/aff/go/craigo
Yeah! I already had 9 months work experience at another company as part of a grad scheme. So when I finished I had literally just crossed the three years 😄
I am in FLP exemption. Meaning I have to write 6 papers. (OCS, MCS, all four papers in strategic level) Already the OCS I have failed once and have written now hope to pass. But if I still fail. It will be total of 5months I have spent on OCS alone. Very disappointing right?.
Don't be too down on yourself mate! OCS is tough, 5 months is a long time. Be honest with yourself and evaluate whether you are putting in enough effort.
@@CRAIGO10 the think is CIMA is my first qualification in accounting .. i have a hard time getting entry level jobs .. since I did my bachelors degree in Agriculture
Hi Craig..I was exempted upto the Strategic Level Case Study and I am supposed to start from Strategic Level. I did my MBA but it didn't include accounting. I am in a rut as my Lecturer tells me to by heart and research all things which I was exempted from by giving a Operational Level "Key Topics" Paper. I feel really down in the dumps as I don't know some accounting terminologies and I can answer some but some I have no clue. Do you think I can do it or do you think I need to stop what I've started and start from scratch??? Would really appreciate your answer. Thank You.
I’m very suprised you’ve been offered exemptions for materials that you haven’t even learnt. A lot of the CIMA material had appeared for me in random university modules, not even related to finance. I would try and get hold of as many of the textbooks as possible and start skimming them. You won’t need an in-depth understanding of all the models and things at strategic level. A lot of the wuestions I had didn’t directly relate to the theory, just more about how you would manage a real life situation. Don’t give up yet, work hard. It may take you 6 months before you are able to start your first paper, but that’s okay 🤞🏻👌🏻
@@CRAIGO10 Thank You so much Craig! Yes I got exempted and started taking Classes but then I realized my lack of knowledge, and with what you said, I better start from the objective tests first. So I'll take your advice. and yes, I WILL NOT GIVE UP. Thanks once again for your motivation and for taking your time and giving me such valuable advice. I really appreciate it.
No problem mate! 100% the way for you to go is to study the previous modules so you have a full understanding of the syllabus. Sounds daunting but it isn't as bad as you suspect. In the latter levels you are examined at your understanding of business rather than the deep theory/calculations. Good luck mate!

Good question! I wouldn't take a break and would get straight back to it. All depends how many marks you failed by. If only a couple of marks I wouldn't leave it long before a re-sit, if it were alot of marks, then i'd have studied again for longer before resitting. You can sit again 48-72 hours after your fail if you get on and book the exam! Thank you!! :)
