When you are 500m out on a shore dive, a 2piece makes it way easier to tape a dump, if it’s gotta go its gotta go
Other big benefit i think is being able to wear just the top with boardies in warmer weather

I find this advice pretty counterintuitive, because historically the world went away from two piece suits because they have more leakage points and easier flushing, making them colder. All your top surfing suits are single piece, zipless. A proper fitting single piece zipless has never flushed through noticeably for me? You're also conflating material properties with suit styles, which isn't really fair - an expensive single piece can be as flexible as an expensive two piece.

My wetsuit is a front cross zipper one piece with a hood. All the things you mention, no hood, no zipper flexibility I have no problems. The one piece head to toe is much warmer than my two piece.
But IM learning two piece allows better deep breaths for deeper dive without constriction.
I'm torn between a 5mm farmer John or 5-7mm 1 piece for my first wetsuit for snorkelling in the UK. Sea temps from 8-17C . I like the idea of using just the Johns for kayaking but with a 1 piece I could add a 3mm+ shortie on top. This is a minefield for someone like me
Definitely get a two-piece suit, preferably 7mm since the UK and surrounding countries' waters are usually freezing.

why in spearfishing is 2 piece warmer but in any other aquatic activity they say 1 piece is warmer since prevents flushing?
