Could Utah Leave The Big 12 To Join The ACC? New Report On ACC Expansion | ACC Revenue Hits Record

  • Could the ACC actually expand with a new member in the near future? New reports from Dick Weiss of the New York Daily News have linked the Utah Utes to the ACC. Utah is about to join the Big 12 but reportedly could be enticed by the ACC’s ESPN network affiliation. Other rumored candidates for the conference are USF, San Diego State and Oregon State. The ACC just had a record revenue increase this past season, but the gap is still wide behind the SEC and Big Ten.
Hosts Alex Donno and Kenton Gibbs discuss possible expansion candidates and analyze a report showing that former conference commissioner John Swofford, who retired two years ago, is STILL making almost as much money from the ACC as current president Jim Phillips. Congratulations to the Duke Blue Devils, who beat Florida State 16-4 to claim the ACC Baseball championship.

Agreed it is not happening. Doesn’t mean that it’s not the only hope the ACC has to remain a powerful conference as currently configured.
Bottom line is, the ACC under Swafford violated terms of the contract, by not having a vote to extend ESPN‘s time to negotiate a contract. This intern helped family members of Swafford at Raycom. The ACC is still paying Swafford after he has left the conference.
So a case can be made to show that the ACC breached its contract, knowing that they would get personal gain from a contract with Raycom.
That is not what Clemson and Florida State are leading with, but it is what they will finish with if not allowed to leave earlier.
The league is kaput without an injection of funds to bring them up to par with the Big Ten and SEC .

    • @user-kn7ry8iz6x
      @user-kn7ry8iz6x Місяць тому

@@robertstwocents NO. They did not NEED to take a VOTE. That is BS.
They are trying to say that because ESPN made NO CHANGES to the ACC Contract during the 1st Look-In that a VOTE was needed. That is BS.
There was NOT VOTE NEEDED because there were NO CHANGES to the 20 year Contract.
The ACC has their next Look-In in 2 years and it looks like some changes will take place.
THAT will require a VOTE. But NO CHANGE does not require a VOTE.
FSU is trying to make that case... but it has NO CASE. If it did it would not have REFILED 2 or 3 times already and the Court Case would be OVER and the ACC would not have SAID recently that it REFUSES to SETTLE is FSU had a LEGITIMATE CASE.
Plus the ACC is about to get a HUGE CASH INCREASE of around $20 Millon per school NEXT YEAR.
But FSU SHOULD KNOW THIS unless every person they have in Leadership is a CHILD. So nothing is going to keep FSU in the ACC.
Clemson and UNC... MAYBE. But still unlikely.

@@Patrick-sg7cm EXACTLY. As long as Miami stays USF is NOT VALUABLE for the ACC.
ACC needs NEW MARKETS and BRANDS. Those Markets must be in NEW STATES.
Arizona, Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma St, West Vriginia, Utah, Cincinnati.
The ACC $$$ Increae is due to the COMCAST DEAL which increase ACC Network Payouts.
Payouts that get SPLIT by ESPN and the ACC. COMCAST DEAL needs NEW STATES.
COMCAST Deal also bundles ACC Network w B1G Network and SEC Network.
And ACC Network pays MORE per Subscriber IF the ACC has a Footprint in the STATE that Subscriber lives in.
      THEREFORE:
Adding Stanford gets us USC and UCLA fans for Subscribers.
Adding SMU gets us Texas and TX A&M fans for Subscribers.
Adding Cincinnati gets us Ohio St fans for Subscribers.
Plus any ACC, SEC or B1G Fan that subscribes living in any of those States.
But there is also TV CONTRACT VALUE to work on.
These Large TV Markets are out there for the taking:
Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, Cincinnati
And BRANDS... Utah Oklahoma St and West Virgina dare EYES in Football above anyone but Louisville and Notre Dame who will remain in the ACC. And Colorado is big right now.
Kansas and Arinzona draw EYES in Basketball and would increase TV Contract Value
For the ACC to MOVE UP in $$$ it has to stay together (minus the FEW it cannot keep) and GRAB the TOP of the Big 12.
For 1 that means ESPN could DROP the Big 12 or pay it next to nothing going forward and that opens up $$$ for the ACC and 2 taking their best Brands brings the EYES to the ACC and away from the Big 12.

Because no team in the ACC has beaten UTAH save for UNC. Utah has like 75 losses just to Colorado, Arizona and Sparky , The ACC is an easier path to the automatic playoff spot once FSU leaves, plus UTAH would be highly interested in opening a SOUTHEAST pipeline like they did in CALIFORNIA. Sometimes, there are more important things than money. ACC won't lose autonomy unless it dips below 14 teams by July 2, I suspect that won't happen.

At to the FSU merchandise, it is totally believable that they sold out early. Why? FSU baseball has a substantial fan base who travels. Years ago, when the ACC held it tournament in Louisville, FSU had the largest crowds outside of Louisville. Also, these fans travel BEFORE their team plays, and typically purchase tournament merchandise BEFORE the tournament starts. People who attend these tournaments know this. I do think that the vendor miscalculated the demand for FSU merchandise, but that's on the vendor, not the ACC.

@@foreverorangegirl44 ACC Network Payouts have INCREASED due to the COMCAST DEAL which BUNDLES the ACCN, SECN and B1GN. So now the ACC earns a fee for every subscriber to ALL 3 Networks.
And more is on the way because USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, SMU, Texas and Oklahoma fans were (most likely) NOT SUBSCRIBING at all.
Plus the ACC gets 4x the Fee for any subscribers that live in a STATE with an ACC School in it. ACC is now in California and the Top 4 fanbases in that Stateare now part of he Bundle. ACC is now in Texas and 4 large fanbases are now part of the Bundle A&M was last year but NOW they are worth 4x as nuch,
Plus lots of regular old ACC, SEC and B1G fans live in Texas and California... they were subscribing before but NOW they are all worth 4x as much.
PLUS... the HUGE Hidden Story everyone is missing. ACC has been spending $16 Million a year per school to build all of the Infrastructure for the ACC Network (and ESPN has been matching that at around $240 Million per year).
That means the ACC has been EARNING $16 Million MORE per year than it is reporting in Revenue. It is not Revenue because it got SPENT.
The ACC Network Spending ENDS in a few days. But the ACC keeps getting that extra $16 Million that is has been spending WHICH makes that $$$ REVENUE.
So every ACC team will see an additional $16 Million in TV Contract Revenue and they don't even have to DO ANYTHING to get it. Plus the additional $$$ from the ACCN/COMCAST Deal.
ACC is about to hit a HUGE WINDFALL in PROFIT.
And ESPN is about to fall into an extra $240 Million per year it no longer has to spend. ESPN no longer spends $$$ on the B1G as of last year and no longer spends $$$ on the PAC as of NOW.
What 1 thing does the ACC need to make everything work out just fine. More $$$ from ESPN and ESPN will have the $$$ to make it RAIN. And ESPN doesn't have to do ANYTHING to have that $$$ at it's disposal

Out of desperation to stay relevant you guys are giving your conference away to schools that don’t care about it and it’s traditions. You’ve already added 4 group of 5 schools and 4 PAC 12 schools. Once you add some ACC schools then the non original BIG 12 schools will have more voting power then the original hateful 8. Those new schools will control how the conference operates. I simply don't understand why Utah is perceived as such a hot commodity. They've lost 5 straight bowl games, and the first time in years the Pac was worth a damn they went 5-4. Kansas, Colorado and both AZ schools are more attractive programs in the B12. Baylor would be above them too if not for their disgusting scandals. Joining the ACC sans FSU & Clemson would be a lateral, costly move. And the first chance Stanford & Cal get to join the B1G they won't spend a second's thought on Utah. If Ute fans weren't so naive and prideful they'd ask themselves why they alone were given such a sweetheart clause by the B12. The answer is obvious to everyone else.
