I did this video on Aug 11, 2020 so ya this is a couple months old. It got blocked but was released. SO ya
1.Brass part is so good. Love them, they're awesome. Razor sharp and give you enough but not too much. Love how they're so solid on those stabs way up there. I know those notes are dangerous.
2. SHOWMANSHIP- They just scream showmanship
3. Transitions are good- honestly I can't even remember this song at this point it was such a while ago.
4. The syncopation of the beat is so catchy.

One of my faves by them. The arrangement on this cut is immaculate. But The Emotions are a great vocal group as well. Listen to them doing "Best Of My Love", one of my all time favorite songs from that era, and "I Don't Want To Lose Your Love".

I’m 72 and danced to a lot of Earth Wind and Fire. One of my favorites.
The beat is so tight, and then there are these secondary rhythms that come in the ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh....ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. It's sort of ecstatic.
The girls were the group THE EMOTIONS. They had several hits in the disco/dance era of the late 70s early 80s
They have such a great stage presence, I love them 💜

The 3 lovely lady singers are "The Emotions" hired by EWF to perform on this track. They have their own hit song "Best of My Love". This is from their 1979 album "I Am". "Into the Stone" you mentioned is also on this album. Another great hit from this album, but not a disco song, is "After the Love Has Gone". Every song on the album is good. 1979 had some of the best music.
Seriously....1979 was the bestest year ever. I kinda want to go through and just see everything that charted that year. It seemed like a good year.
It was such an exciting time for music, disco was still hot, but soon nearing its last legs and there were a lot of new sounds coming. By the end of the year many bands experimented with that iconic 80s sound.
This was a song and video of epic costumes, harmonies, dancing, musical performances, solos,...your ears and eyes are captivated for the entire performance!!!

I liked how you dissected parts of the song, your take on the horns is quite interesting, I find trumpets give the listener good shots in the face that make your head bob. What you may not have noticed is how the Timpani, yes Timpani, an instrument used in a r&b song? Anyway the use of it is very interesting as it is played by accenting the off beats. Very creative.

In the 70's, when a disco record was released as a single, a 12" version was also released concurrantly. These 12" singles were often very much longer than the 45 rpm singles and were ranked on the Disco Chart (formerly the Dance Chart). Most of these extended versions can be found on UA-cam by searching for Disco Purrfection Version. Many choices will pop up. There are hundreds to choose from. Boogie Wonderland is more than twice as long in it's Disco Purrfection Version and is credited as Earth, Wind And Fire with the Emotions.
So the longer versions were for the clubs or radio or something?

@@jaybrielakoi7747 the longer versions were for the clubs but many were available for purchase. Record stores had sections for 12 inch Disco Singles. The first one I ever bought was "the Groove Line" by Heatwave. You may want to do a reaction to that one (nudge nudge). Also the disco purrfection versions although extended versions are not the same as the original 12 inch versions.
Another great disco band from the 70's with some great brass is KC & the Sunshine Band with some mega hits. Check them out.

The Emotions were a great female group on their own and team them up with EWF and it was dynamite. This song was actually supposed to be on the Emotions album but Maurice jumped the gun and put it on an EWF album and there was a falling out between the two groups.
The Emotions were a great group, but Maurice took them to another level.
Even before The Best of my Love which Maurice could have released as an EW&F song. EW&F played on the track, and it was far and away The Emotions biggest song.
This rightfully so was released on I Am and is more an EW&F song with the Emotions as back up.
