Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers will be facing off against Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers tomorrow night in game 1 at 6PM MDT. I mean obviously the Oilers winning in 7 is a dream come true, but if they have what it takes to win, I hope they do it in 6 at home. Hockey fans deserve 7 games sure, but not even just talking Oilers fans, the Oilers players themselves deserve to win in front of their crowd. They've given us so much, they should be able to drink in the praise in the moment.

Florida is just the better team, more balanced, relentless forecheck, but it will still be close. Bob vs Skinny will be the biggest difference in my opinion. No way Skinny is close to Bob, especially after a second year of experience.

Oilers are a really good team but they haven't faced anything like what they're about to encounter. Panthers in 5. Hope I am wrong though would love to see a seven game series that finishes in double OT!!
TheOil have been getting better and better. They're finally really clicking as a team. I feel like many people are looking past them and all but crowning the Panthers. I think the Oilers come in firing on all cylinders and win it in 5. Maybe that becomes a Panthers curse, always losing the final in 5. 😅
Yeah but unfortunately they've had a chill week off and sooner doesn't do well in that situation! NHL schedule had been destroying oilers all season long and this might be no exception!
I think that if either team falls behind by 2 games, the ither team will be able to hold them off and win. Goalie performance will, as usual make a huge difference. Edmonton has the firepower and discipline to beat any team if they can sustain that momentum. Completely depending on defence as they did in the final few games with Dallas will hurt them with the Panthers.
You're totally right, I think that the true advantage Oilers have though in their high-skill and high-IQ players is versatility. They can execute on many different styles and the coaching all around has been up to the task of system adjustments to match specific teams in the playoffs. Sometimes it takes a while for Oilers to really read the opponent and subsequently get in a groove against them, so here's hoping they can do it before its too late. I'm watching for big offensive plays out of Oilers D this series, I think Coffey is going to really be encouraging that kind of playmaking against the Panthers.
The key element for the final will be about surprising the opponent. Do Oilers have any more hidden trump cards left in hand? All being equal in stats, players' health, and players' forms. I see the surprise element shall come in the form of McDavid's versatility as playmaker and goal scorer. He's been playing the play maker role throughout the season and definitely created a serious threat on its own. If McDavid could mix both those roles fluidly, like he showed brilliance in game 6 vs Stars, then the Panthers will have a hard time to contain him. LET'S GO OILERS!!!
Gonna be a great, close series. Florida untested against this Oilers team I think wins us game 1, but their depth against our blue line has me concerned. Gonna be relying on Stu!

In order to beat Edmonton the Panthers need to keep playing the way they have throughout the regular season and playoffs. Oilers will need to play much better than they have thus far to beat Florida, and I'm not convinced they can. Panthers in 5 maybe 6 depending on Skinner.
My biggest hope for the series is good officiating. This very well could be the last chance for both teams to win it all…a lot of pressure. The edge for me goes to fla losing in the final last year…in the end who wants it more and sacrifices. Team first mentality over individual efforts will ultimately be deciding factors, which in IMHO edges on fla. Should be a great final, keep up great content!
