The plating at Bahn Mi was superb! Every dish was a picture. Great to see you two out in the wild, enjoying yet another local treasure. Sorry Mark didn't get his tacos. I'm a Texan, and the pain is real. Cilantro is the bane of my existence, since (to my genotype) it tastes like a skunk smells and it's ubiquitous in my beloved TexMex cuisine. Missed you two & glad you're back!

Glad you two are back. Anna’s letting her hair go out and it looks great. There is so much great food to eat, and I’d have to be dragged away from the table. I haven’t had catfish in years. I don’t like cilantro. Tastes like soap.

    Hi Anna & Mark .
It’s so nice to see you both. The Vietnamese food looked amazing and I do love cilantro.
I hope Mark gets his tacos soon. 😂
I’m enjoying the cookbook very much . Today, I made bigos for the very first time which we all enjoyed. I think my Mamo would have been proud. . I gifted a book to my daughter and son-in -law and they are loving it as well.
Thanks for sharing this fun visit to your farmers market. Looking forward to to many more episodes of “Kitchen is closed”
    Stay well . ❤️🇵🇱💙🇺🇸

Just found your channel. I need to check the map for the location of your city, later.
In the meantime, it was good to see the fresh veggies for sale and your visit to a Vietnamese restaurant.
I live in Santa Ana, Orange County, California. It is a multicultural region with the cuisines of Asia, particularly Vietnamese.
Certainly, Mexican/Hispanic and also a Polish influence nearby.
A family runs a Polish deli, which is like a small grocery store with imports from Poland and “imports” from the Polish community in Chicago.
I’m looking forward to your videos about your travels and foods.
My ancestry is Lithuanian and Slovak, having grown up on the foods of Eastern Europe.
My hopes and prayers that life is safe and peaceful in your part of the world.

Love your videos! My dad's family are Czechoslovakian who immigrated to New York back in the 20's. I grew up on alot of the food that you make. Brings back many memories for me. I love perogies, cabbage rolls, braised cabbage, poppyseed cake, halushka, chicken paprikosh, dumplings and cabbage etc. I don't know all the names for everything. I just love the food. We have tried your cabbage Sauerkrout, cabbage rolls and a number of other recipies. Thank you for posting them. And thank you for the stories along the way. You've even made me question my own thoughts on potato pancakes. I hated them as a child growing up, but am willing to try your recipe... you just never know. Ha! Love all the heart warming stories and seeing a bit of your culture as you travel around. We've never been to Europe, because my work and connections have always been in Asia. Hopefully, one day I'd love to go to your area, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania... all those countries. Thanks again. Have a super day. New to your channel. ❤️

I grew up helping make Ukrainian pierogi and since have added to the recipes by making pear or Peach stuffed ones…..rehydrating dried fruit and adding butter sautéed onions and a pinch of salt to the fruit and serving with more butter sautéed onions…….worth trying for sure…..the idea came because of the prune stuffed ones I grew up with…..

i am so impressed with your culinary skills that I ordered your cookbook. I have been using a small cookbook that I picked up at a polka festival in 1991. It consists of recipes from a lady's mother circa late 1800s, early 1900s. It has been my bible for Polish recipes. I am really looking forward to trying some of your recipes.

I inherited similar from my grandpa when he died, but aside from my Polish not being that good, the real struggle is that so many of the instructions are very non descriptive and basically say "measure with your heart" :') or "combine this in the typical way"

    Another great episode.
    The farmers market looks wonderful!
And the chef seems so enthusiastic. Looks like a cool little spot.
The sandwich and pretty much everything else looks great. I have to admit I gave pho a few tries. Unfortunately, it's just not my cup of tea. The flavor, the smell and the strange texture of chicken (the beef version was slightly better) just didn't work for me.

Little off the video topic..I just got myself an e- book copy(instant delivery) of this cook book and I find it super cool..but then I realized that a polish born , speaking person reads about polish cooking in English.. well..but that brought me to conclusion there could be a polish market in polish?/since it's so homey/classy done..don't know. Another thing.. no Mark in the book..was he hanging out in that coffee shop with all these cool bearded tattooed guys at that time?

Hi Anna, thanks for your channel.
We live in Germany, just over the border from Stettin. We visited Stettin yesterday and ended up at the Novy Browar restaurant where I had excellent Polish sour soup and liver, but unfortunatly no sauerkraut soup.
A question: where in Stettin can I find sauerkraut soup? I looked at several menus outside Polish restaurants but couldn't find any that serve this dish. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think finding “kapuśniak” in summer months will be a challenge. Best to make it at home. In spring and summer months you will most likely find “chłodnik” than sauerkraut soup. Chefs often rely on fresh ingredients and they’ll gladly reach for young veg before sauerkraut that’s always around. Time to explore! 😉

Cilantro puts the "sabot" into my gears... I do not have the genetic makeup (many of us are like me) who cannot tolerate cilantro. It takes people different ways, for some it is a mild soapy taste, for some, like me, it is a truly repugnant taste and odor that fills up the sinuses... I shall not go into the details, but for me, cilantro is the show-stopper, and in a very bad way. I do live Asian cuisine, but not the cilantro, and that is why when I have Asian cuisine, or Indian, I omit the cilantro, and add parsley, which for me, is magic.
