A bunch of other content creators published their videos on the x100vi a couple of days earlier, but none came close to the thoroughness we have come to expect from your videos Chris! We really appreciate you taking the time to make them so well. I bought and loved the xt1 in 2014, I had been wanting to come back into the fujifilm ecosystem, but I don't want to sell all my Sony gear. I pulled the trigger and pre-purchased the x100Vi thinking it could get me using fuji without the need to buy into the whole lens system. This video made me feel better and more exited about this camera. Thanks again!
oh no!! 😅@@luxdalet I kinda hope to use the fuji for casual every day family portraits and street photography, and keep the Sony gear for more serious work. Although you never really know where you'll end up right?
You’re gonna love it ;) just be aware that this can switch you to all Fuji in the future;) Sony for work is one of the best, but doesn’t have “the soul” ;) But Fuji has his limitations so a lot of room to catch up with Sony.
Okay, comment from the end. . . I have had an XE4 with the 27mm pancake. It was the size I wanted for and everyday carry. It was my gateway into the Fujifilm system. I soon added some lenses and not long after I added lenses, I realized I needed WR., which the XE4 did not have. Enter a very fine XT5. The jump from the 26mp to the 40mp sensor was an eye opener. Next up I decided to send my XE4 to my daughter-in-law, as she was recovering from cancer and had decided to move forward with photography as a new exploration. I no longer had an everyday carry camera that would sit on my shoulder wherever it went. My XT5 has 3 marvelous lenses that handle my shooting needs. I have the amazing 16-55 f2.8 red badge, the 50-140 f2.8 red badge and the 70-300 zoom. Sitting on my XT5 my pictures shine with these 3 lenses. But for an EDC - the XT5 and the 16-55 f2.8 weighs in at 1394 grams - an X100VI is only 521. That was my reason for buying the X100VI - it will reside on my shoulder whenever I'm out and about. It's menu memory is firmly planted in my brain as it's so close to the XT5. I know I can rely on it as an EDC as it's lighter touch on my 70ish shoulders. Keep Calm and Fuji On!
@@cyano3d Two reasons: 1. I want the 23mm angle of view! I was not enamored with the 27mm angle of view. My “eye” pre visualizes in 23. 2. Compactness over the shoulder for EDC. 3. Leaf shutter and ND built in.
This overview shows how serious are you with your work. Some people spend months with this camera, producing spec reading wideo with some crappy photos. You had one week and managed squeeze as much as possible. Thank you for your work!
It's a testament to the quality of this video that even though I've already preordered mine and it will be the third version the X100 I'l have owned, I eagerly watched the entire video! You are so great at this!
BTW I tote SOnyf or my job (I'm a professional photographer) but I grab the X100 when I want to have fun. Its the one camera I have ever owned where I use the word love.
Insane in-depth review, sir. You literally delivered 2-3weeks worth of experiment's findings in just one video. Definitely wanting to buy this camera more. Thank you once again!!
Having viewed most of your content, one of my favorite phrases is "Have a look at this...". What a good teacher, you have made my Fujifilm camera experience so much better. Thank y ou
As always, a superb and comprehensive deep dive into the camera and what the specs will actually mean to most photographers. This is the review I've been waiting for.
Best honest review of the X100vi I have seen so far. I know you never had any of the X100 cameras but I hope you will do more videos on this one as I have pre ordered and am waiting for mine to arrive.
As usual awesome video. When I was new to the Fujifilm system 3 years ago you had all the answers for my very novice questions and ever since almost on a weekly basis you have answered all of my questions. Thanks for being a great and essential lifeline 🙏
Hands down the best video I have seen so far on X100 VI! Your work is thorough and I think there isn't anything that you missed to cover! I am subscribed!
At first I thought, yeah I’ve seen enough about the X100VI while I’m on the order list patiently waiting for my camera. Then I recognized it was Pal2tech and I changed my mind.. I said, I like this guy! 😂 And for good reason, best and most in depth review yet!! 👍
Best technical overview I've seen. Thanks for pointing out that the microphone jack is on the right side. Sure, it's not a perfect video camera to begin with, but that right there is a showstopper. You literally can't even hold it without additional accessories.
Thanks for the excellent review Chris. Your work is always great but this video is one of your best - despite the pressure and anticipation you must have been feeling from everyone out there (and the tech problems). Thank you so much for all your expertise and good humour and devotion to giving us what we need out here in Fujiland.
Hey there! I’m so sorry for the delay in seeing this… I get so behind lately in managing my YT account and am trying to get help. But seriously, thank you so much for your kind donation!! This means a lot to me and really helps out the channel!!! You ROCK!!! Thanks again and all the best to you!!!
I have watched 8 videos on this camera this is by far the best of them all. You even bring out features no one has has caught or touched upon. Thank you for your passion and detailed work.
I love watching your videos…… I have to admit that it was because of you I am trapped in the system 😊….. two years ago one of my friends gave me her old camera that was in her drawer for year not in use (a lovely xe-2 ) …… I looked and searched for videos to show me around…. Was lucky o find you ….. now I have my xe-2 and I bought an XT-1 last year and having so much fun with both ….. thanks again for everything
Wow! Thank you for the robust “preview”. I pre-ordered the black and silver from different stores and will keep the one that arrives first. Thank you for another fantastic video. I will be rewatching this when I get mine.
I've owned an x100 for 9 years. I started from T, later switched to V. And yes indeed I started doing more photos with it, as X100 is more portable. Now using my old Canon 5DmIV only for sports and nature shooting...
Great job with this review. Your review is, by far, the most comprehensive and complete among all that I’ve watched on UA-cam. Thanks for that. I’ve been an X100V shooter since 2020 and have loved the camera so much that I take it with me in all my families trips and vacations. I will make the purchase of the VI within the year and still keep my V.
Just for a week of you using x100vi. The amount of things I've learned on your video is just divine! Thank you Chris! I'm loving my x100vi and this video help me understand my camera!
Thank you for doing this video. I have been watching all videos on the VI since release but this is the only in depth one out there. I have one on pre order, I own the x100f so it’s a big step up when I finally get my hands on one. Great job.
This is the best X100VI introduction video I have seen on UA-cam so far. Very comprehensive. Not just a regurgitation of the specs. I have watched your videos over the years and have come to expect a high quality product. This did not disappoint. I got mine the day it came out and have been thrilled with what it can do. Now, after watching your video, I can't wait to go into NYC later today and test out the features. Who knows, maybe you'll get one and treat us to more X100VI videos;) Thanks.
The X100V can use its ND filter for video shooting, too! It couldn’t at launch but received a firmware update that enable this functionality. That’s what got me to finally buy one.
I own the X100V and have been looking at all these videos about the six as obviously I am considering upgrading. This is by far the best summary of the new camera, its pros and cons. I only take photographs and I’ve never used the video function on the x100V it simply holds no interest to me but the IBIS for lowlight situations l could be the reasons to upgrade as I take a lot of concert photos. This combined with the extra resolution should make a real difference. Thank you for going through the differences so clearly. A real help. I’m now just deciding if to order now or wait until I visit the States as it’s significantly cheaper there.
Had to watch your recommendation again - almost heard you telling folks not to get one. But then you said it was hard to send it back and it made you want to take pictures. However, we must disagree about learning photography basics with this camera. It has separate settings for the "triangle" and provides a fun form factor for someone starting out. BTW - My wife learned on a Fujifilm range finder decades ago when ISO (ASA) was set by the film you loaded.
Tremendous review - well worth the wait! Thanks! I bought a used x-t5 a few months ago and came to the same conclusion as you. Really happy with my purchase and several used lenses.
Thank you so much for this both informative and entertaining introduction of the new Fuji X100VI. Once again you‘ve done a great job. Greetings from Berlin, Germany.
Thanks so much for all your hard work and effort in this detailed first look. After seeing many of the UA-cam videos over the first couple of days after the announcement, I realized they had a very superficial look at the camera. On the other hand your analysis is much more well thought-out similar to Gordon Laing’s full reviews. Wish you the best
Great video Chris. I have the V and have watched multiple reviews of the VI and yours is by far the most comprehensive. I'm not moving up to the VI, however it seems you were quite impressed with it. Will you buy one? Thanks for the time and attention you give to your videos. You have really raised the bar.
Amazing coverage of the camera - thank you! I've pre-ordered one and it will be my travel camera when I go travelling later this year on the basis that it's a great hybrid shooter with the built-in ND
Without doubt, the most concise, well put together review video of this camera on the internet today. I was in two minds whether to go for the "six", but your superbly put together review has put that to rest. Ordered and... Subscribed 👍
Tomorrow I drive 300K to collect my X100VI (and home again) which will join my XT5, XH2S and XS20 and am really looking forward to getting back to my beginnings in photography, with a fixed focal length. Your detailed coverage of the camera has been a big help to me, so thanks.
Great news about your eyes ... when you have cataract lens implants, you can ask for perfect vision! I did and after 50 years of crummy vision, I now have eagle vision! I had one eye set for distance and the other for close vision. They switch, automatically and they also work together for improved, 3d comprehension. As a photographer, it has been amazing for the last 20 years for me to see perfectly! The only gotcha is they have to do both eyes within 14 days. This wasn't a problem! Well worth asking about!!!
I have to admit that a fixed-lens camera like this is not really my thing, but I'm glad you're doing an extensive review like this for the people who do like such a camera!
I simply cannot afford or justify buying this camera as much as I would love to, and having seen a number of videos about the X100vi this blows all the others out of the water for information and entertainment. Thanks! Perhaps in a few years the price won’t be as inflated as the present crop of x100s.
Thank you for another thorough initial walk through and review of this camera. Your efforts are appreciated and makes you stand out from other reviewers!!
In the following videos about this camera to come please check if adjusting clarity still slows down the camera or if it's no longer an issue. Thank you for providing the most in-depth coverage of this camera at launch.
Yeah, eventually I wanted to get away from being a pack mule and sold all of my system rig to buy the VI. It fits in your pocket, in the console of the car, or in a day bag, but brings real photo game. I think this is going to add real joy back into carrying a camera everywhere and shooting at a higher level.
Love your closing thoughts. There really is something to love about shooting with this little camera. Makes me want to take more pictures also! Feels so much more like play to me.
I have watched so many UA-cam vid eos on this camera and this is first one I’ve watched from beginning to end and feel I have come away from really understanding the camera. Kudos to you👏🙏
Worth the upgrade coming from V to VI. Ibis and autofocus upgrades are huge. Only issue is I'm forced to pay $1200 AUD (I got the V on sale, as a preorder on release) more than I did with the V because of the hype. For reference, in Aus, right now, you could get an XT-5 body and a 23mm f/2 for the same price as the VI.
Great video, very thorough and brought up things that I hadn't seen in other videos. To me this is the perfect camera for someone who is primarily a shooter of another brand because then you don't need to invest in an entire second lens ecosystem. The teleconverter and WCL also make it more flexible with no material loss in quality. Unless you need ultra wide angle for astro or telezoom for wildlife/sports then this is the camera for you IMO. It's the perfect travel/street/everyday camera to me :)
I have the XT3 & a few XF lenses. when traveling, the camera & lenses always feel a bit cumbersome, so this camera seems really good for my needs. The most vital words are that is was very enjoyable when taking photos. I pre-oredered mine. Thanks for the review.
As usual a very informative presentation. Many thanks for the Walk Through. Having recently bought the XH2 and an owner of the XPro3 and XPro1 Im satisfied with what I have.
Chris, this is why we wait for your reviews. I've watched them all knowing when you were through, there was only one which really got to the essence of the camera. One question, will you do another video on beginner settings like you've done with the XT4 and XT5?
I don’t intend to buy this camera as it’s expensive and I already have an xt5. It would be a nice to have, especially for casual fun times with friends in the evening, but not a necessity. Despite this, I still watched this video because you are so enthusiastic and entertaining in all of your videos. Such a pleasure to watch! Thank you for giving me a great video to watch while I eat supper! 🎉
Thanks Chris for this thorough and honest review! I love my x100V so I'll be sticking with it. But the X100 series is a perfect walk around one camera vacation/travel/street camera!
Excellent video , Chris. As a XT5 owner I was curious as to update the X100VI has. You answered all the questions questions I had. I also have a Ricoh G3x and I think I have found the best to both worlds. Just came back from vacation and they both performed well!
This is by far the best in-depth review of this camera. The rest mostly only touching on the surface and boring info which people can read on spec sheet. This video is for those who wanna know more in depth on how to maximize the capabilities of this camera. Very good video and appreciate your hassles in testing so thoroughly. Wish the unit can be longer with you and maybe you’ll able to dive even more. May I ask so far any freeze or the camera warming up in a short period? Thank you Pal.
I’ve been using the x100 series since the original model. I passed on going to the x100v as I was satisfied with x100f and wanted to wait for greater pixel and new processor. I shoot RAW/fine and always am in manual mode (with auto focus). This video was first rate in providing technical details about the camera. Now I’ll wait for B&H to ship it to me. Now what I would like Fujifilm to do is to incorporate all these feature into a x-pro 4. Chris is right there is a photographer’s desire to have interchangeable lenses. I like the compact design of the x-pro line over the larger x mount series cameras. Personal preference. Thanks for the video.
LENS CAPS Thank you for such a great review, and for mentioning the lens cap. I'm very pleased indeed with my X100vi and fully agree with your comment about it. I have a 27mm pancake lens for my XT5 and the lens cap which is supplied along with the lens hood and can be fitted while it's in place is the same. It was that one which made me think:- What do you do with a lens cap when you take it of. Probably like most people I put it in a trouser pocket, which inevitably has tiny bits of fluff, grit and so on in it. All that gets picked up in the latch mechanism on the inside of most lens caps, and can be dropped on the lens when the cap is replaced. The design of the X100vi cap makes it very much easier to keep the inside of it clean. Why can't all lens caps me made like this? P.S. I haven't yet received the weather resistant kit I pre-ordered at the same time as the camera so I can't be certain, but it does look as though it will still be possible to fit that lens cap (probably not quite so firmly) with the extra filter in place.

There is only 1 creator
Easily the best review of the X100VI so far on UA-cam. Thanks for putting all the time into creating such a in-depth video!
This is by far the best review of the camera I've seen. And I have watched just about all of them. Thanks for the in-depth coverage.
I really appreciate the production quality of this video Chris. You can tell you put so much work into this.

I simply cannot afford or justify buying this camera as much as I would love to, and having seen a number of videos about the X100vi this blows all the others out of the water for information and entertainment. Thanks! Perhaps in a few years the price won’t be as inflated as the present crop of x100s.
This is the best (preproduction) X100VI product video so far! Finally, some substance in a review.
Thank you for the detailed video, the amount of work that you have put in is pretty incredible. Have pre ordered mine and arriving tomorrow.
Fantastic comprehensive review, so honest and professional and fun to watch too, this is exactly what I needed! Thank you, I appreciate it!
Hallelujah!!!!! The X100vi video is alive!!! hehehe I was expecting for it (preferring an XT6 instead even so). Thanks Chris !!!
Best review by far... congratulations and so many thanks.
Best video of the much anticipated x100 vi. Bravo 🙌🏻
Hello 👋 I discovered your videos yesterday and I love them 😍 you are so talented. Thank you for your hard work bye ✌️
Just mine yesterday… traded in my X100V and got a good price for it too! Not yet set it up, but looking forward to using it. 🏴
Thank you for another thorough initial walk through and review of this camera. Your efforts are appreciated and makes you stand out from other reviewers!!
This video will last for many years, it will be a amazing reference.. i love your video Chris ❤
Your review is simply superb. The best of the best. You covered everything from soup to nuts. I think I am going to like this one. Thanks much.
Yeah, yeah, camera review. Chris another great video...what no one has noticed: You have a new puppy! :-) Welcome Pippin!
I have watched so many UA-cam vid
eos on this camera and this is first one I’ve watched from beginning to end and feel I have come away from really understanding the camera.
Kudos to you👏🙏
Best review!!! I've watched couple videos few days ago. But yours is the best!!!
You even have the subtitles ready, for a video just under 50 minutes. Insane level of effort!
Thank you very much for this great review and the time and effort you put into it, Chris. You are doing this so well. Congratulations.
awesome rerview, you are awesome. subscribed and very happy i came across you! 😀
Nice and thorough review. The best I’ve seen.
Excellent review
Excellent video , Chris. As a XT5 owner I was curious as to update the X100VI has. You answered all the questions
questions I had. I also have a Ricoh G3x and I think I have found the best to both worlds. Just came back
from vacation and they both performed well!
Definitive overview. Thank you so much for this. I'm absorbing all the content as I wait for my pre-order to arrive!
LENS CAPS
Thank you for such a great review, and for mentioning the lens cap.
