He doesn't end up with her. The final verses: "Daylight licked me into shape I must have been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes And found myself alone, alone Alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me"
The Cure always reminds me of this girl I went to HS and college with. In HS, she was obsessed with The Cure & Robert Smith. In college, she dated a Robert Smith lookalike.😂😂😂
I taught myself the keyboard parts of this song just by matching it in my head note for note...was surprised that it was so simple...basically just goes down the line...anyhoo...of course one of the more popular songs...for good reason.
This might be their best song. Love the guitar solo and keyboards that play in the background. Other songs may be more groovy or rocking but this Is a perfect pop song frim thst time period. Not a huge fan of the album it’s on. It’s a double album and there is a lot of whiney stuff on it, (also some good stuff too). But it would have been much better as a single album.this is easily the best song on it.
This is a intracatelly woven song and if you listen closely there are two Keyboard lines playing off each other while the guitar weaves itself into the melody. The most consistent instrument is the Drums but takes a backseat to what else is going on.

Can't but smile when hearing this. Comfort music for me.
Tre's facial expressions for the first 45 seconds as he (inevitably) warms to the song are priceless.
This is the closest thing to a banger from these guys, and it's also my favorite Cure song. Nice.
Inbetween days, one of the best layered intros
Of course you like the mainstream stuff.
If had to pick a favorite, i think "Out of This World", would be my winner. Love this too though....

Check out their song Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. Same album.

Less is more
Reminds me of 1987. I like "Lovesong" better, but "A Forest" also still sounds good forty years later.
My favorite The Cure song.
This is their big pop hit.
Like blue sunshine by the glove. The 2nd disc
One of the catchiest songs ever. Dinosaur Jr did an interesting cover of it, I highly recommend that as well.
That's what I was gonna say
Great album 👍👍
Great pop hook on guitar.
Bring back the yeah yeah yeah intros
♡♡♡
