Yes, yes, yes, yes. I agree with you 1000000%. Mike should have went back to Rooney and stay with Don King as his promoter. Leaving Rooney was the death of Tyson's career. Rooney wasn't a yes man and he knew how to correctly train Mike for his fighting style. Even after coming out of prison Mike could have saved his career by going back to Rooney.

cus died, jimmy died, teddy left, and kevin was the last one left.
kevin warned him about don and robin, mike thought it was betrayal and fired him.

Dong King brought the $$$ and took the Blood. Rooney was the Gym Rat, but Don Convinced Mike to train 60% capacity and still make a 20 million payout. Douglas would have lasted 3 rounds against a crisp focused Mike; clearly.

      @gen-x-zeke8446 2 роки тому +8

@@coomodus2592 We can only speculate the entire truth of what went down, but the one who does know isn't5 saying a word, and there are reasons for that. As fans we all know what would likely happened 'eventually'. Mike would have closed out the '90s with 60+ wins and probaby 52 KOs. 3 Losses. I think he would have smashed 'The Duke', split wth Holyfield, Lewis and Bowe. Mike stopped moving his head in certain fights and just kept charging in instead of boxing. But I can only speculate as well. Its obvious. Mike peak athletic prime was from 1985 through about '99. After that he gained weight and got slowed way down to look foolish.
I'm a Tyson fan, but even Ali said Mike could have knocked him out, but of course Mike's humble reaction was like: "No, no, no..." But I agree with Ali. You can't beat a prime Mike by circle dancing around him.

@@daveyboy_ Bruno had so much support in their fights, but the last one Mike destroyed him. I tell people, "He just didn't get that punch or momentum against Evander. For Bester, he was not in that ring, but was an avatar while he soaked up the sorrows of (The dark side of Reality). And he's alive-Thus a living legend. Cus said he wouldn't leave until Mike succeeded, but he wasn't talking about the Ring. But now that Mike seemingly has freed his mind I think in that regard he is "prime Mike" and now Cus may rest (to Mike that is). In the early days, Mike Loved to overcome the fear, and win by about 90% KO of All fights combined. Look them up. It's amazing that he didn't OD on anything. I know the Hell of wanting to Die but not being able to find yourself to end it. So, we fight, fight, fight just to survive. Mike is a hero to me because although I'm not from his world; I am from The World. Mike Tyson...holy shit. He's alive to share his story because now he's the greatest in that certain regard. We all see the blood, but rarely do we see the true hurt people carry. All my heroes have lived in Hell at some point, thus, me as well, and here I am. It's probably a fucken illusion anyway. Thanks for reading if you did. I appreciate it very much. My name is Chris (Gen-X-Zeke-8), I am 44; Tyson fan since 1988. 34 years. Just wild...but I wonder in some way, how did he know, or how Does he know that I exist in a great philosophical manner. It's awesome. This video hurts to see because people know that Kevin Rooney was the right trainer for Tyson. If Tyson would have stayed with Rooney, then Mike would be an all time great fighter with the likes of Ali, Louis and others. Instead he is a top 20 fighter mainly because of his career from 1985-1989. Rooney was practically begging to train Tyson again because he wanted to see him fight at his maximum potential.

Top-10. He had ALL the tools/skills: Speed, footwork, head, power, and more stamina than people thought. Shift, timing instincts. But $$$ came is like Noah's flood of power!! "God Bless The Almighty Dollar". It gets to all of us eventually. I actually think he was a 1950's fighter due to him being trained like one. Imagine footage of him versus those guys back then? People would be freaking out like, "Who the hell is this Tyson?!" Left hook, uppercut, to the body, both hands, ring presence. Even Ali said Mike would beat him, and that's Ali talking. "I would be fast and jabbing, but when he hit me..." (gesturing going down). But, let's talk about how he made it out alive...never mind inside the ring. That too puts him up in the top-10, top-7 of All Time.

I saw the alternate future... Tyson kept Rooney and so he beat Douglas and then KO a daring Holyfield in 3... Then Holyfield stuck around but when he saw that Tyson was going nowhere he went back to cruiserweight because no one was going to b legend or even hall of famer while Tyson has all the belts.
Tyson stayed out of prison, ducked Bowe, beat Lewis and lost the second match... Beat Morrison and sent Foreman into retirement in, a very emotional fight.
Fought and beat the Klitshco brothers back to back and then retired. He was 52-0 by the time he lost his first fight and retired like 63 - 2
With his titles in hand... Let the lineal champ line b broken once again...
    Go down as THE GOAT.

Rooney has trained many world champions as he’s still training fighters in his gym today.
He didn’t luck out with tyson. He’s proven his worth of a trainer over the past 35 years. One of the greats
He made mike. It wasn’t mike being a genetic freak.

Kevin's right, Mike did not want to be in the ring on that particular day.
Along with Mike's body language as he walked to the ring (nearly tripped when he stepped between the ropes), the most telling sign of him not wanting to be there, was when the Japanese press were trying to present him with a Joe Louis belt just minutes before the fight began.
He could be seen saying something to his trainers, as if he didn't want to receive anything and ended up ignoring the ceremony altogether, which came across as extremely rude on his part.

Mike’s worst mistake was letting Don King get his slimy hooks into Tyson.
Had he stayed with Kevin Rooney it would have been tough for anyone to beat Mike.
That includes Lennox (one of my favourites) and even the Klitschkos.
Despite their reach and boxing skills, Mike’s perfection under Cus/Kevin was always a huge advantage.
Tyson was hungry, didn’t have yes men leeching off him and distracting him, and focused on his place in boxing history as the champ.

  • @jerichobeach2967

First round. That’s when I noticed something was wrong too.
He didn’t work to get inside, he didn’t take more than half a step forward to reach Douglas so he was basically fighting on the back foot the whole night. EVERYTHING that happened that fight happened via buster going to mike. Even mikes awesome uppercut knockdown was a result of buster coming to mike. Iron mike was iron he took a hell of a beating that would have killed a normal person but he didn’t go after buster.
It was always oh busters in range I’ll throw 1 maybe 2 punches if he comes near again but if he’s not coming I’m just gonna chill right here.
That saying how if u want the belt u gotta be the champ u gotta beat the champ, the champ doesn’t have to beat you.
Buster took that to heart, ironically so did Mike.

As we know, a disciplined Mike Tyson is unbeatable...Holyfield would be the only one that could hang with Mike. Big George wouldn't keep up with Mike. It's kind of Sad, but yet it saved Mike's life in a very ironic way.

I think there was alot that happened that people dont know about. The relationship with Mike and the team was overrated. Apparently Jacobs had never told Mike about his terminal illness, unknowingly made him sign a contract that would enable his wife to take a large percentage of Tyson's earnings, after Jim's death.
I think Mike was hurt when he found out and said the hell with them.
