He cheated on drugs tests by submitting others peoples urine (he’s admitted to this)…so he’s hardly an honest athlete!
Although he blatantly cheated against Holyfield, I believe he was the recipient of cheating tactics (intentional headbuts) throughout both fights. I also believe Holyfield took PED’s.

Thank you for sharing this film. I'm from the UK. From the first time I saw Mike, I loved him, though he has to be given a fair go in this, where you discuss his honesty.
Mike was born in Brownsville, in an extremely harsh generally no hope neighbouhood. If he didnt pick pockets, his pockets would have been picked. His homelife would have been virtually impossible. So of course he'd get in trouble with authority.
Just by chance, his luck/fortune changed as a teenager. He got into boxing and was directed to the great Cus De Mato. From that moment on, when Mike's life changed, he had hope and from there, his honesty shone through.
Mike put every ounce of everything he had into boxing and totally devoted himself to boxing. Just look at the condition he got himself into. That's honesty, dedication, devotion, respect, passion. Mike won fights with his ring walk alone. Who's done that before or since? He invented that and he's never ever been bettered.
Cus, Teddy, Kevin saw Mike's potential and made him into one of the most feared fighting machines thats ever lived. You'll never see the excitement, the expectation of those times again.
I found it so humbling to learn of Mike's letter.
From the first possible moment Mike had the opportunity to show honesty, he showed it in bucket loads.
I dont know anything about the rape incident. What was expected during a night with Iron Mike Tyson? Did they think he was Bambi??
Again, Mike wouldn't admit to doing something he hadn't. Is that not being honest??
How could Mike's honesty ever be in question with all the points I've raised. It shouldn't ever, ever be thought about, let alone contemplated and mouthed.
There'll never ever be another time in boxing like Cus, Teddy, Kevin and Mike gave us, ever. I'm so glad I was young and full of energy when I lived through it. Thank you.

For those commenting Teddy Atlas never understood or cared for Mike’s vulnerability clearly don’t know the history between the two.
There’s a well known video of Teddy consoling Mike during one of his amateur tournaments. Mike was crying as he didn’t think he was good enough! Hardly the actions of a man that didn’t understand or was unemphatic to Mike’s vulnerability.
But when Mike started to over step the line, Atlas would speak to Cus and others to make sure they didn’t condone his behaviour by ignoring it, and instead instilling discipline. Things came to a head when Mike acted inappropriately with Teddy’s niece. He confronted Mike and warned him to never treat his niece or any member of his family with disrespect again. For this he got fired by Cus. The fact is, Teddy was right. It was this lack of discipline that affected Mike’s career and personal life! No doubt there is still resentment there on Teddy’s side and Mike is now very humble and honest about his mistakes and behaviour.

Regarding the undisclosed actions, mental health issues can make you throw all sorts of things out of proportion. Tyson may for instance be referring to something like betraying one's trust, hurting someone he cares about, letting someone down, not having the courage to stand up for something he believed in, or been cowardly where he felt he should have been brave. All these things and infinity many other things when you are alone can eat away at you, make you think life is not worth living. You can learn to hate yourself and spiral into depression, and think you deserve the pain your feeling. Or he could have done some straight up nasty shit worse than rape. Although the list of things which are worse than rape is very short and don't normally go unnoticed. We all know he has a dark side, probably a coping strategy when dealing with fear and anxieties. Be intimidating in a sadistic way to mask your own insecurities. I think Tyson has tackled his inner demons with the help of the toad. Now he knows that the demons are always there, but he can keep them at bay, and only harvest what he needs from them

Atlas seems like one of those NPC like people, or possibly he is one of those old school "groomed" men who believe a vulnerable, sensitive, self-conscious person like he perceived Mike to be was - weak, a fairy, etc.
He seems like an insensitive , callous man, or a man who really truly has no self-conscious attributes, a man without an internal monologue or sense of self awareness.
You know a person who always reacts and never reflects.
      or
like I said he could also possibly be heavily brainwashed by machismo... he sure is old enough to be from that timer, and mike's vulnerability, sensitivity, and desire for approval ...
Back then? In New York ?
you could expect lots of teasing, bullying, etc. being called one of the alphabet letters people when that was a slur, etc.

People know his thieving ways when he was younger or alleged spousal abuse but when you're in prison like that especially if you're innocent you have to justify it in your head so even if the crimes he was talking about wasn't worse or as bad as what he was accused of he was making peace with it within himself remember he also had a religious transformation while in prison

    • @GgCashh451
      @GgCashh451 2 роки тому +2

Dude this is so accurate. I don’t think he ever abused his wife but you’re right when you say you have to justify why you’re in prison even if you didn’t do What you were sentenced for. Prison is not easy to get through and questioning every day why you’re in there and telling yourself that you didn’t do anything wrong just makes it so much harder to get through

It's not black and white, like most things in life. Mike needed to be reeled in. Brandishing a guns one thing. Firing a round next to his head is something else entirely. I think it entirely depends on the whose story is more true. Dude was 3 years older than the girl, not 21 and cruising the high schools. Other hand his upbringing and future incidents could lend weight to the darker version of that interaction. Atlas was no boyscout that age either. Thing that sucks is how horrible 1st person recollections are, they make bad witnesses in fast crimes. Your mind starts shaping that version you believe to be true. There was a few studies about people in trauma, car accident, assault, robbery. They had video of these events and a few times a year theyd bring the people in and question them on that event and details. Zero people described it the way they did originally and it was even further from the video of the event. They never showed them it or gave indication any answers changed. So who knows
Teddy spent so much time with him, its obvious he cared. If he just didn't pull the fcking trigger.....

Teddy, can you explain what you mean about Tyson never getting tested in his fights please. You said the fights he lost were the only fights he got tested in correct. Well I watched at least 6-8 fights that he was absolutely tested and won. A few in split decision isn't that the most tested a fighter could be 🤔. Plus any fight he lost after 2000 was nothing, he was way past his prime and look like shit to be honest. Buster beat Tyson yes but 100 percent of people would tell you for a fact that he didn't train, partied, sleep with all the women over there,, didn't have the right corner guys, just divorced Robin,, etc. He didn't look like the same guy and everyone knows it. 100 percent of people would say he would have won if he was there mentality if you know what I mean. The only fight I would say he did lose was the 1st fight against holyfield. Tyson 5 years past his prime yes but still a good fighter, holyfield was so roided up he looked like Barry bonds in the ring and still it was one of the hardest hitting fights we all watched,, I'm honestly surprised people don't talk about how much roids holyfield was taking at the time but it is what it is. If Tyson never lost the corner he had and keep his mind right he would have faced guys like holyfield and lewis in his prime and never would have lost even with the roids. So I believe if we live in a true world his record is 60-1 with someone finally beating him in the mid 2000s.
