Most definitely, and we lost a iconic radio station last night at midnight “Good times and classic hits -4KQ 693”. 😢. Only ever played 60’s,70’s&80’s hits . 75 years of broadcasting, they played this song - Hold on in their final 6 hrs of iconic hits last night .
Thank you 4KQ . Your music will certainly live on

The models were the first live concert I ever went to age 14. The sax. The synth. The 3 female back up singers moving in unison wearing tight skirts and high heels. The mullet bowl cut. The shoulder pad jackets. Pure 80s big production right there.

What a joy to discover the Aussie music of the Eighties. Hearing the bands that never penetrated the American market ~ the Stems, the Models, the Chantoozies (yes, the Chantoozies) ~ is a revelation for an American who came of age in that glorious decade. It's like seeing Aussie Rules Football for the first time, as I did at 21, and realizing ('the shock of recognition') that Aussie Rules is just about the greatest game ever invented, a damn sight better than American football.... And yes: 'Hold On' should have been a hit on the Billboard Hot 100. An amazing song

Wow Dean, that’s amazing to hear. Aussie Rules is an awesome game! My favourite ’American’ sport is ice hockey! There’s no doubt that this decade was incredible time for Aussie music. That audience looks like the big crowds for the ‘87 Australia Day weekend lineup which was a Who’s Who of Aussie bands.
There are so many great bands from Downunder to discover, I’m happy to recommend a few!

4:13 I saw the models, for the first time at the Manly vale Hotel. The Manly vale hotel should never of been pulled down for a car park coles and units. Now thats Sad. Some of the best Australian bands loved it there, and played to always packed houses. Inxs, frontman Michael Hutchins was often seen there having a beverage or two. The night i was there, it was still 38, degree's, at 2am in the morning. So what do you think happened. The lead singer, James Fraud, noticed the heat on stage, so he walked up too the powerful fire hose, and let it rip. The crowd went crazy, he cooled each and everone of us completely down. The fire hose that was , at the back of the stage was that powerful it reached right up to the back of the crowd . Wow, where have those days gone. Bring them back, right now. Forget about the nanny state, saying you cant do this and you cant do that. What gives a party the right to dictate to all of us,, saying, no. Its all man made paperwork. Come on you petty publicans, become defiant, and stand up for yourselves, bring back the Radiators. The models, inxs, The angels, Mondo Rock, The Johnnys, in full flight. The Macinations, Rose Tattoo , The erougliders, Transvision Vamp. Split Enz, Psydoh Echo, . Got me everyone.

My first big concert where I was one of the truss spot operators. The only problem with working in the industry is having to pack all the production gear away for 8-12 hours after such a great day. Loved it & after 35+ years in concert lighting I def miss the 80s! 🤩

We were spoilt for the best live music in Oz in the 80's. And how I miss the MANZIL ROOM/SPRINGFIELDS IN Kings Cross. I was a regular blonde chick, got up & sang backings with many a band there, Shauna Jensen gave me the death stare & tried to nudge me off the mike! I'd give almost anything to find a muso's club like that again, all of us now in 55- 70 ish, but still rocking it!

Their final single and their best. Just brilliant songwriting makes this stand the test of time. There is something about it that is so Australian I can't put my finger on it. Perhaps its the opening synths and footage from the helicopter coming in over Woolooware Bay. Or maybe its because I've never heard Models songs anywhere other than Australia.
