Have to give credit for releasing a song like this. It is an odd-sounding song, with magnified bass and synths, little in the way of lead guitar. All these years later, 40 years later, it still sounds fresh, invigorating and new.
Absolutely one of the best songs put together in that period. That bass break. The crazy drum shuffle. It's like a crazed new wave funk machine set on automatic that would still play if the band had all passed out. The bass is impeccable. The synths are really well utilised. The guitar subtly creeps in here and there. The drummer is as we all know a legend.
What a band, and what a genius Sean is. On a deserted island of wonderfulness...Duffield went alright too. I never realised how technically proficient these guys were at the time.
W.J. - yeah, I watch vids of bands I used to really like and some of them that I thought were 'pretty simple' in some way, at the time... I now see were actually very talented and to quote you, technically proficient...
They were amazing live. One of my favourite bands in the early 80s when I used to spend a lot of time going to see live music in venues like the Seaview Ballroom, the Prince, the Jump Club, etc, etc. So much great music around in Melbourne then. The Models were definitely one of the very best. I felt a bit sad when I saw Sean Kelly playing with some guys in a pretty empty pub years later - probably late 90s, early 2000s. I was going to tell him what a huge fan of the models that I was and that he should get them back together but I thought that it might embarrass him under the circumstances. Anyway he did eventually get the Models back together and they are as fabulous as ever. Their music is pretty unique so it hasn't aged as much as otgers.
Waaaaay back I loved using this song to " dance" to on stage, it was a crowd pleaser.❤ The toucan, some happy memories ( those I can recall, not age dear?). ❤❤❤❤
I've always liked this song. Whoever produced the video did an amazing job on an obviously small budget. I remember a TV interview back in the day where Andrew said he came up with the keyboard riff trying to play the riff from Superstition.
One of my favourite Australian (Melbourne) bands in the 80s and I've managed to see them a couple of times in recent years. So great that they got back together again.
So Good - Saw them live plenty of times around the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney but the Best Performances were always Best at my local - The Maroubra Seals Club - INSANE SHIT !!!
Love the sound of this, the little keyboard punctuation that starts at beginning then is joined by the other instruments..and that voice.. . Its all so geniously done!
Shows the symbiotic power of songs and movies and how one leads an audience to another. To his great credit, Yahoo Serious created a soundtrack featuring all-Australian bands.
He fights/struggles with himself and the power/consequences of human movement “the motion”. He also hears “the motion” … the voice in this head - his mind, telling him to do destructive stuff … very deep heartfelt sorrowful words. Such talent RIP.
I saw these guys at Toad's Place in New Haven when I didn't get carded at the door at age 16😜. Love them! The drummer threw a drum stick..had that a long time!
I only heard this song for the first time on _Rage_ a month ago. I thought it was okay but otherwise thought nothing of it. But yesterday I was on shrooms and this tune came into my head as I was tripping. It took me until now to think where I heard it. Man, it is whack!
They have Spotify too promote there sound unfortunately 20 yrs too late like a lot of great Australian bands . They won't be forgotten the legacy lives on ...
It's a crime this great Aussie song doesn't have millions of views. One of our best kept international secrets.
it really is
Agree they were bit like Robert Palmer meets Duran Duran 😊
%100 brother
@@robcam001 they were better than Duran Duran and nothing like Robert Palmer. Their music was witty and unique.
nah! youre wrong
I saw The Models in 1983 when they toured with David Bowie. Great memories.
….STILL my favourite Australian song ever…
Love to play it late at night in the car… 👍👍

It cranks into life and winds back down like a machine. It even has a bass solo. Superb song.
I remember seeing them perform this as support for David Bowie in the same year as this, 1983. Superb to the bone.
What an awesome show that would have been. Lucky you.
They were bloody brilliant. Tight vocals and arrangements.
40 Years since this was released hard to believe. Sadly James Freud is no longer with us. Love this song.

That unmistakable intro........bloody brilliant
Ends in reverse to the way it begins. Absolutely brilliantly executed arrangement. One of their very best.

Great memories of the Models performing this before Bowie took to the stage - Serious Moonlight Tour.
An absolutely awesome 80’s Aussie new wave gem..
Englishmen and Russians are one and the same people ... who separates us? exelent track!

Alongside bands like icehouse and pseudo echo Australia had great new wave bands
The reels, Spy Vs Spy, Reel Life.@@fenncarr3774
That is one of the best intros to an Australian song I have heard ,I just play it over and over.
Hope these guys knew how perfect they were and how much happiness they provided! This song is extra!
I have just rediscovered this song & so have my neighbours!
Turn it up
Did they throw a brick through your window to hear it better 😂😂😂
They should use this song in more movies… forkin brilliant!

Memories growing up in the 80’s as a teen. Good times.

One of the most brilliant compositions of all time. Masterpiece. . .
Nothing short of being a brilliant song. Awesome.
Synth sounds and bass solo are perfect!
I miss the genuine of James 💔
One of the best 80s songs🇦🇺
Goose bumps! Oh the memories.
Good as any band of its genre, criminally deserved O/S success
I've always liked this song. Whoever produced the video did an amazing job on an obviously small budget. I remember a TV interview back in the day where Andrew said he came up with the keyboard riff trying to play the riff from Superstition.
Great song :) takes me back. Great Aussie music!

Still 2024!???????
Love this track ,been years since I've heard it,still a great track, boogies along.
I went to a gig of 80s stars years ago at the Coogee Bay and Sean was there doing this song - everyone went nuts and sang along
So many beers listening to this years ago and still beers bit not so many we love you jimmy
What a sexy fukn song. I was young when young Einstein came out, this is one of the songs that burned a lasting impression in my young mind.

It was a very exciting moment when James joined Models
Takes me back to the 80s
Danielle i was 23 when this came out and im sure i have never left the eighties
Discovered this through The Newsreader show and can't get enough of it. I'm not familiar with Australian 80s synthpop, but I need to dig deeper now
My BEST Models Song...Love my Models X
The greatest Aussie song of the 80's. What a sound for its time, still sounds amazing today!
Absolutely killer intro, beautifully crafted song. Amazing bass break by Sigmund Freud.
He fights/struggles with himself and the power/consequences of human movement “the motion”. He also hears “the motion” … the voice in this head - his mind, telling him to do destructive stuff … very deep heartfelt sorrowful words. Such talent RIP.

All round class act. the legal battles that come later in no way detract from the music. You guys were, and still are, out there.
Sean Kelly is the only "Mr Mumbles" that makes it so cool back then and even today 41 years later.
Back in 83 I regularly would see these guys drinking at the bar at Sydney's Berlin Club (@Jamison St), surrounded by girls.
Perks of being Rocknrollers...
Heard this song on a Australian show killing time then went looking here I am love it
How come we don't see Young Einstein shown on TV anymore...I love how this song was used in the film
There's also a great 12 inch version of this song. Absolutely brilliant!
Takes me back to happier times❤️🎶❤️
Full version is a masterpiece
1980’s 🙌it’s been a minute ❤
I'm 35, grew up with this album & I have to share an unpopular opinion...
This version of The Models, were better than INXS.

Young Einstein soundtrack. Awsome song
Loved this song from the movie Young Einstein by Yahoo Serious.
Awesome !!
Dave Smith and *_Sequential_* re-released the Prophet-5 (five voices) and Prophet-10 (ten voices) now, in late 2020.
soooo good.
Very cool/ from Detroit
I was in the studio when they recorded this. James Freud told me he once took a piss in a nightclub in London with Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzie.
My goodness, I couldn't tell you when I heard this song!!
I really loved the Models and saw them as support for David Bowie, years ago, at Lang Park in Briz Vegas...
Cool.

And in the USSR there was a song called "narcoman" by Lenigrad, where the music was very similar to this, but different lyrics.
Say what you will about Yahoo Serious movies, the man picked great music for the soundtracks.
W song
Could have been an instrumental, what a tune.
Oh Lordy what have we become?
