I kinda met the lead singer James Freud (RIP) at the IGA supermarket in St Kilda (Melbourne) around 2007...we literally walked into each other coming around the aisles and gave each other a shock. A shame we lost him. Good song.
One of my really appreciated songs from the early days.... can't seem to find the right words to sum up the times then,except we were young,the music was great,we dressed how we felt and every girl seemed pretty and interesting.
Hardest decision of the week was deciding which party to go to on Saturday night...

You summed the 80's perfectly. So many bands, so many clubs, pubs and happier people keen to spend $ after a hard week at work. More care free times and we copped better not having mobile phones. Seeing bands was our stress relief. We need a revival of real music and fast.
Australia Day 1987.
I was 12 and thought I was too cool.
I met up with 3 girls who were 16 and smoking cigs. I lied and said I was 14, hoping for some puberty blues action.
We were front row for The Models and Divinyls. Chrissy was on fire and flashed us.
I was king of the world until my mum declared me missing. An announcement was made on the main stage and my ruse was up.
Nothing kills the vibe like a public announcement saying we're looking for a lost boy 😂
That said, it was a cracking day and an even better night at Shark Park.
INXS and Barnsey finished off with Good Times.
I wish I was 12 again, just to live this day.
The 80s brought Australia's gretest era in music, rivalling the New Wave of Britain and so great you are appreciating it...much more of course..Eurogliders' Heaven Must Be There' of the top of my head!
Yes, it's very warm on January 26th in Sydney, it's the middle of Summer.
Though the boys in Models are ultimate professionals and their appearance is very important.
The guy on Saxophone is James Valentine, he's a major media personality on ABC Radio and at times ABC T.V.
I think he also played with Sean Kelly's ABSENT FRIENDS after Models disbanded.
Their album called MEDIA, didn't sell as well as they had hoped.
I discovered them in 1980 when they were still quite avant garde.
Hardcore fans didn't like it when James Freud joined and they moved toward the Mainstream and popularity.

That is a very cool reaction from The Wolf Hunterz, they genuinely like MODELS.
They were one of Australia's coolest Bands.

One of the ladies singing back up is Wendy Matthews, born in Canada, who came to call Australia home, who went on to have a big solo career, beautiful songs like The Day You Went Away and Let's Kiss (Like The Angels Do). Voice. Of. An. Angel.
Good pick I love Wendy... my fave song being "Quiet Art".
Don't forget Sean Kelly of the Models wrote songs for Wendy.
Yep, shes very easy to pick out in the vocals. I hoped one day this would reach a wider audience. It was one of my fav songs back then. 😁

Girl in the middle was a young 27 year old Wendy Matthews before she went solo a few years later

Ahh, memories. Was 18 when this came out. A great time in Aussie music, the whole 80s Pub Rock era was awesome! You need some ‘Angels’, they were actually out-selling label mates ‘AC/DC’ at the time.
Would have been interesting to see how far the angel's could have gone if they'd stayed with Albert's

Thanks for reacting to this song, it's a song I've loved and forgotten about! I saw them live New Year's Day 1985 where they played before INXS...massive concert for Adelaide with 60,000 people in a fenced off area one third of footy park, now known as Aimee stadium. I spent the whole time the models were on stuck in the middle literally standing on one leg for most of the time as it was just so packed. I made my way to the edge when INXS came on. Absolutely fantastic concert by both artists.
Best song they did this was Australian Made concert at Cronulla in Sydneys South 1987.
So good.
January 26th Australia Day 1987 endeavour field Cronulla Sydney the last leg of the Australian made concert. So many great bands I was tripping off my tree 🤣 lol I was young it was the eighties

I was there at Endeavour Field to see Australian Made that day. The Models were brilliant.

Mega band from ozstralia
Loved this band. Smuggled my underage girlfriend into to see them in the drinking area in 85. Nothing dodgy going on. We were both underage at the time.
