Was about to say the same thing. By the way, I used dental floss to get photos out of the old albums. You gently ease the floss under one corner and slowly slide the floss to gently detach the photo. I re-did all my albums this way.
I would guard against using the magnetic albums for storing your ephemera to use at a later date, the glue is strong and items will tear when you lift them off, I've learned from bitter experience 😢
Oh no Linda! Wow! I’m so glad I haven’t used them yet. I’ll have to figure out how else to use the albums or I’ll just have to donate them back. Thanks for the tip!
I totally want to play that Grand Hotel Escape game, ha ha. I love a good mystery. (Thinking of the movie Somewhere in Time. Takes place at the Grand Hotel. I just watched the movie again last week.) ❤
Hi Barbara! Thanks for your comment. Looks like a lot of people want me to keep it too. I think I will, just not sure what I’ll do with it yet. Thanks for watching
Great finds! The adding machine paper rolls would be perfect for a snippet rolls. I love making snippet rolls. Great score on the flashcards. I especially love the French grammar cards. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tammy! That’s exactly what I wanted to use the paper rolls for, I just couldn’t think of the name of it Lol. I’m super happy with the French cards too. Such a cool find. Thanks so much for watching
Hi Maggie!! Cool finds. You should repurpose the box! By the way, be careful with the albums because whatever you put in there will stick and sometimes you cant get it out. We have alot of those with photos and they are permanently stuck 😮
Hey Diana! Really? Aw man! I’ll have to think of another way to repurpose the albums then. And I will definitely repurpose the box. Maybe make it into another crafty video.
Hi Cora…I’ve been pretty lucky with the flashcards. I’m happy with the stash I’ve been able to collect. It’s fun being on the hunt. I’m hoping to find more languages. It’s just cool to have. Thanks for watching
All the restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. gave away those matchbooks as advertising for their establishments. Kept them in fishbowls by the cash register for their customers to take. Lots of people collected them. Those wedding favors were really popular too. Smoking was big back in the day. Fortunately, I never smoked, but my parents did. Mr grandfather smoked cigars. He used to take me to the Santa Anita horse racetrack in Southern California when I was growing up. I collected his betting tickets in one of his cigar boxes and opened my own bookie company, ha ha. I had big dreams, LOL. 😁
I just started watching your video and had to jump in on the album. I have tons of them from back in the day full of family photos (yes, I am vintage too, ha ha). Lots of the photos are stuck in them, so would not advise keeping your ephemera in them. Not acid-free, either. They are cute, though. I will now continue watching … 🙂
I LOVE the French cards. I recently found a vintage French dictionary and a French grammar book. I don’t have the heart to cut them up, ha ha. I should video my book finds.
Those sticky albums were very popular, they do get dusty and lose their stick and go yellow. I’m not sure where the magnetism comes in. We used to find them really annoying.
Hi Lucy! Yes, I’ve heard they are not such a good idea for holding my ephemera like I planned. I guess I need to find another use for them. Thanks for watching
😂😂😂😂😂 I’m a new subscriber and making my way through your vids. I’ve often laughed when I see your haul videos because we have SO MUCH of the same things, EVEN THOSE SPANIISH FLASHCARDS! We must have gone shopping during the same time.
Hi Rebeca, thanks for checking out my older videos. I appreciate you watching them. Sounds like we have the same taste in supplies. That is so great! Thanks again for watching
@gapeach51170 No no, by no means. I was just saying because this video was posted quite a few months ago and I was told by so many NOT to use them. Glad everyone told me, otherwise I would’ve ruined my ephemera. I always appreciate the tips.
Please don’t use the photo album for your ephemera. It will ruin your items. They will stick. Also, why would you not keep the cigar box? There are people that pay big $$$ for them. Keeping the box doesn’t in anyway mean you approve of smoking.
Hi Melissa! Thanks for the tip about the photo albums. I definitely will NOT be using them after everyone has been suggesting the same thing. I’m just so glad I didn’t use them yet. I think I will keep the box and maybe redecorate it and use it for storage? We’ll see. Thanks for watching!
Totally agree - the surfaces stick and take layers off of whatever you "sandwich" in. If you leave the surfaces stuck together, you could stick on some clear pockets, since the book as a whole is sturdy.
Agreed! I have one with my sticker collection I had as a kid and they are stuck in there! Lol. Have tons with pics from when I was a kid too and they are stuck in there. 😣
I ditto a lot of the other comments. Those albums are not archival safe and you will ruin your items by putting them on the sticky pages and pulling them off.
I’ve heard…I’m a little bummed. I thought I was making a cool storage for my ephemera and paper dolls and turns out everyone is telling me what a bad idea that would be. Luckily I hadn’t tried them yet. I just donated them back to the thrift store. Thanks for the tip.
Don't put your items directly on the page. Put down a piece of cardstock first and build from there...pockets, etc. DO NOT put pictures directly on the glue.
Thanks Laura, I was immediately stopped in the comments when this was first posted. I had seen others store their ephemera in those and thought that might be nice to be able to see exactly what I have with just a flip on the page, but oh well. I ended up donating them back to Goodwill. Lol Thanks though. I appreciate your tips!
Hi Lucy. Thanks for the tip. I’m not going to use them. I’m glad I showed them before I did. Everyone’s tips have been so helpful. Thanks for watching 🤍
Those sticky albums were very popular, they do get dusty and lose their stick and go yellow. I’m not sure where the magnetism comes in. We used to find them really annoying.
Your stuff will STICK in those albums! A lot of my childhood photos are ruined because of them. You can't get them out without tearing them.
Thanks so much for the tip. I will not be using them. My stuff is far to precious to me to get ruined. Thanks for watching
Was about to say the same thing. By the way, I used dental floss to get photos out of the old albums. You gently ease the floss under one corner and slowly slide the floss to gently detach the photo. I re-did all my albums this way.
I think I’d be tempted to scan the matchbooks before doing anything else with them.
Hi Belinda! Really? Ooooo you’re making my creative wheels turn. That might be a cool idea. Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching

Hi again Laurie! Wasn’t it such a cool find! I’m excited to see what I can make with it in future projects. Thanks again for watching!
Keep the box and decoupage it. The box is a treasure. Great for storage.
Hi Raquel! Thanks….I might actually do that. Maybe I can make it another crafty video
@@SunsetCrafts
Yes that would be a lot of fun to watch.
Keep the box.. you can decorate and fill it with ephemera. Postage stamps would be great. The box is great
Hi Suzy, I totally agree. I think I will redecorate it and make it a new project. Thanks so much for watching
I love old cigar boxes. They are a cool piece of history. Personally, I wouldnt cover it up. Its History!! Great haul.
Hi Barbara! Thanks for your comment. Looks like a lot of people want me to keep it too. I think I will, just not sure what I’ll do with it yet. Thanks for watching

Awesome, looking forward to seeing that! 😊
Somebody used the cigar box to keep their matchbook collection in. Cool.
Looks like it right? Thanks so much for watching Cora
Good score on the flash cards. As much as I've been to Goodwill and other places, I've never seen nice flashcards like you've found. Good job.
Hi Cora…I’ve been pretty lucky with the flashcards. I’m happy with the stash I’ve been able to collect. It’s fun being on the hunt. I’m hoping to find more languages. It’s just cool to have. Thanks for watching

LOL! You’re so funny Laurie. That was great ! Thank you so much for sharing that. I loved it!
Ha! I'm here in Dayton, Ohio enjoying watching your matchbook haul.
Hi Marci! Oh no way! You’re from where all the matchbooks are from . That’s so great! Thanks so much for watching
Fun finds!
Thanks so much for watching Jm!!
The photo albums you bought are not so good for photos, but they might be Oak for ephemera if the font have a slick finish. You got a good haul.
Hi Lizzie! Thanks so much for the tip. I appreciate it. Thanks so much for watching
You can recover the box and use it for anything.
Hi Dorothy! I’ve had a few tell me the same thing. I think I will just redecorate it. Thanks for the tip. And thanks for watching

You totally should! That would be neat. I love watching cool thrift finds like that
Those sticky albums were very popular, they do get dusty and lose their stick and go yellow. I’m not sure where the magnetism comes in. We used to find them really annoying.
Hi Lucy! Yes, I’ve heard they are not such a good idea for holding my ephemera like I planned. I guess I need to find another use for them. Thanks for watching
The cigar box might work for storing items such as washi tape. 😊
Thanks Debra

Wow what great finds.
Hi Claire! I think I did pretty good too. Thanks so much for watching
Great finds! Especially the game!!
Hi Tonya! I thought the game was pretty cool too. Thanks so much for watching
Snippet roll is the word you’re looking for.
Hi Tommi! Yes! That’s it…a snippet roll. Thanks!
@@SunsetCrafts you're welcome 🤗
You found some cool items. And I realized that I am undervaluing my donations! 🙄
Hi Rhonda! Aw you are the sweetest ever. I really appreciate that. You’re support of always watching my videos makes this all worth while.
There is acid in those pages on that old album. Don't do it!!! :)
Hi Laura, yes…I was practically scolded after I shared them LOL. :)
I ended up donating them back to Goodwill. Thanks for watching
@@SunsetCrafts , I wasn't scolding hope you didn't think I was :) Just didn't want you to ruin your products.

Hi Shelia! Thanks so much for the tip. I’m so glad I asked first before using them. Thanks so much for watching
those albums are horrible. all my photo from high school are in those eventually they fall off and everything turns yellow.
I’ve heard…I’m a little bummed. I thought I was making a cool storage for my ephemera and paper dolls and turns out everyone is telling me what a bad idea that would be. Luckily I hadn’t tried them yet. I just donated them back to the thrift store. Thanks for the tip.

Don’t use those albums for anything you want to reuse. They’re not fun.
Hi Lucy. Thanks for the tip. I’m not going to use them. I’m glad I showed them before I did. Everyone’s tips have been so helpful. Thanks for watching 🤍
Are you in ohio
Hi Suzy, no I’m not. I’m on the East Coast
Those sticky albums were very popular, they do get dusty and lose their stick and go yellow. I’m not sure where the magnetism comes in. We used to find them really annoying.
Thanks for watching Lucy!
