so i actually did have a pond in a large ceramic pot one year (i think it was about a 5 gallon pot.) a frog lived in it all summer. it had tadpoles and little frogs. we never had a problem with mosquitoes or anything problematic. i put some rocks and water plants in it. i did clean it out occasionally and switch out 1/3rd or so of the water with fresh. it was very easy and mostly took care of itself. i was surprised.
it actually happened by accident because i left a pot sitting out in the rain and when i went to empty it, it was full of tadpoles and a frog, so i left it and turned it into a proper frog pond pot. it wasn't pre-planned.
The best kind of accident.

That's amazing. How large was your pot? We used to have frogs until we replaced the lawn with paving. Occasional, they visit our garden but there isn't much for them now. I'd like to invite them back
We will use this pebble

Ha 🤣! Good one ☝️
Lol 😂
When your goal is to attract wildlife, please use slicone that doesn't contain additives to prevent mold! it's very toxic.
she says just get a pebble (grabs a giant rock)
hahaha
That’s an easy and affordable safe pond for wee one’s to enjoy too, thanx
easy to watch, listen and learn. Great demo and lovely choice of plants.
Thanks the only video provided me the info I needed. Because I have a terrace and I really want have water plant. Thanks
Great job
Micro ponds are great..They can be a focal point of the garden or balcony.
They are also so cool to change around.
You did a great job.
I really enjoy looking at other peoples ponds and fish. I have 4 koi ponds and a fish room with multiple tanks. My ponds are surrounded by decking and trees. If you would like to view them that's great. If not that's ok too.
Thanks again for sharing and take care.
She has to put a pump to keep the water moving....stagnant water equals algae....pump and water snails are all thats needed....and at least 30% weekly water change to keep water clean
You're right but I think this is a very basic pond for beginners
I have the same sort of pot in video and have been told the clay will absorb the water and crack eventually so use some liner
hi guys ... about mosquitoes ...the use of "horsetail plant" ...equisetum hyemale is a good mosquito-repellent in your pond ...so let's see how to cultivate... Take care!
Or use a few mosquito fish.
Horsetails repel mosquitoes, eh? What's the mechanism behind that? How do they repel them?
OMG, no they do not! LOL! Please do not spread that information.
@@carbrickscity Mosquitos in Britain? What planet are you from?
@@paulhart6926 mosquitoes are very common in Britain actually.
in my experience using mineral water (bottled water) is also good even for the most basic life creatures (I grow freshwater plankton). if they flourish in such water you can probably grow anything in mineral water
Great video
Lovely, thank you!
great idea
That's awesome 😊
Adding medaka rice fish or bladderwort (or carnivorous aquatic plants) could be used to deal with the midges or mosquitos
She has to put fish to eat the mosquitoes
Mosquitos in Britain?
Her garden is beautiful but does she know what a pebble is. Also I would add a couple of snails or guppies maybe to prevent algae buildup and mosquitoes
I made a beautiful pond just like this in a similar pot. I had a little fountain in it to keep the water moving, the birds loved it. Sadly due to the very cold and hard frost this year it cracked and all the water pored out. I will be making one again but I will be using a decorative plastic one.
Sorry to hear that, but if you do another send us a pic! We'd love to see 📷
You can fix the crack with silicon
How do you keep your plants safe if there is a lot of rain and the pot overflows?
2:19 “little bit damaged” petals fall off 😂😂
When is the best time of year to start a pond in a pot in the cool temperate zone--Southeastern USA
Kind of good start but agree with the mosquitos and stagnant water. But like bird baths or a floral arrangement (used to be in floral dept of grocery chain) you just run water through it until its all fresh. Like with the floral boquets, dont need to take all out but over time? Think pump. Bid baths you refill every day but eventually you have to scrub them out.
I have a question to make a mini pond, isn't there the problem that if it rains a lot on the balcony, the water comes out of the tub? How can this problem be misled or solved?
Great job! How would I adapt this to host a little garden frog?
Get an aquatic frog, or wait long enough and they'll come to you
What a nice pond
Very nice and simple. Thanks 👍
Glad you liked it
Algae city! You'd best deal with cycling that water, else it'll become a mire pretty quick. Standing water is not a great thing. Installing a fountain pump will move the water around, at least.
thinking the same...!
the only thing is the water is standing water it may atract bugs and mosquito
And algae. This isn't thought through very well.
Which is why you add little fish in there such as fresh water minnows or maybe feeder guppies.
You can add small fish, or if you add a water pump and create a moving water container pond, then you won't have mosquitoes.
Do partial water changes and I added two tadpoles to take care of bugs. My container is 15 gallons in part sun part shade.
Just add a water pump
She sounds a lot like Ygritte. :)
May aswell just let the pot fill up with rain water and throw some plants in
It looks like a plantpot with muddy water in it...get a much bigger pot - add a solar pump and filter - add in duck weed and water lettuce, then a couple of freshwater fish like minnows, or even a goldfish or two.
but this is her channel, and hiw she did it...
Will the pot burst in the frost in winter or have you a way of dealing with the frost?
Oh good
You created the pond in a pot.... and I created the internet... lol
So do you leave the plants in their pots at all times?
Yes. They will help clean the water. They are aquatic plants
Aren't the sides a wee bit too high frogs to enter? I want to make my little frog who's outside next to my birdbath a pond but don't know how. Thanks for your video!
You need to search YT for videos about how to DIY a ladder for frogs to use on high-walled garden ponds.
Oxygenating plants to keep the water clear...?
how to breed mosquitoes
kitsurubami you can add a water pump
kitsurubami 😂 and Algae.
There’s several products to deal with that
😂
Buy fish that eat larvae
No doubt someone in the future will come up with the idea of making a pond out of a larger pot that could fit more pebbles
On my way for fishing in your pond
lol
Cant be used for animals is the bathroom sealant contains an anti mildew agent
I thought I came up with the concept!
Am I the only one confused at the fact that she calls that rock a pebble?
Parker Schartiger perhaps wherever she is from (according to her accent) they call huge rocks, pebbles?
Why didn't you put the sealer on the bottom of the pot then place th rock over the hole
Is that poplastic or terracotta? Because terracotta will just take water. It needs sailing.
I love her accent
Can u add goldfish to that pond?
Five years later...Is it still going?
wont it attract mosquitoes?
If adding fish the silicone needs to be aquarium safe silicone..anything else is toxic to fish..as is tap water with chlorine and chloramines.....need water conditioner to make it safe for fish.......it would be cruel though to try and house a fish in a pond this size....an old bath tub would be better than a plant pot if you want fish.
Nice little idea however it’s not rally a pond as any fish etc wouldn’t survive in there due to lack of space, a filter and oxygen.
👍👍👌👌👏👏👏
👍👍👌👌👏👏👏
Wat a crock offf .she didnt let the silocone dry
That's a goddamned boulder, not a pebble.
how do u avoid mosquitos
Tris A add a source of surface agitation
A watee pump
Why doesn't she use lily pads
I tried that a few years ago and the mosquitoes flourished...
AnimalsAndReports did you put in any fish to eat the larvae?
Add a pump. You don't even have to keep it on all the time, just a little while every day to break the surface tension. Mosquito lavae only live in stagnant water.
What did you put the gloves on for?.. to handle one pot you didn’t want?
This should be called "How to breed mosquitoes"
It is a small habitat that requires other plants and animals that will balance everything. If you have little fish, tadpoles, lizards, even spiders the mosquitos will not be overbearing. Another tip when there is standing water is not to build it really close to the house. Of course I have a 3 tier backyard where the water is at the last tier away from the house. Keep the pond small also will be easy to manage. Sometimes a different perspective is all that is needed.
A concept she came up with she says.... not that ppl have been doing this for centuries
won't this attract mosquitoes?
Yeah, it will. If you put a little fountain pump in it, though, it'll move the water and you won't get those problems.
No mosquitoes in the uk
Bradley Silver Yes, there are.
The water is high lol
Branson Flynn ofcourse to reach the soil :p
that's a rock not a pebble lol🤣🤣🤣
This is not a concept she came up with. Hell ten years ago I had one in my front yard that had a small fountain right in the middle, a fogger and little accent lights. Maybe I should claimed rights to it then.
Bryan C she didnt claim rights to it bore off
So where is your video. She only presenting the idea for others to use ding bat.
Poundland Paytas - Lol, I was going to make the same comment as Bryan C did, her actual comment was, "Pond in a pot was a concept I came up with..."
Those roots are going to get root bound and rot. A plant cannot become invasive if it is in a small pot that you planted 4 plants in with the hopes that it would grow. That's like saying you're not going to take the marigolds out of the little containers they came in when you put them in a pot because you don't want them to become invasive. Bizarre comment.
Not her concept I had one 15 years ago
@@TruthIsNot4Sale not your concept,I had one 150 years ago
Just add a fish
Nice. You can also put some fish in there! They'll least couple of weeks or maybe as long as whole summer. Fish are nice and pretty.
Cool tutorial... but to say you came up with the concept of a pond in a pot is really taking way too much credit. Many other people have done this for a very long time. I don't think this is your original idea. Just saying...
I never saw anyone do it, and I did it myself about 10 years ago, in a barrel fountain from Cottage Farms.
First of all that’s a rock and second of all there’s no room if you were to put fish in there and that would just be attracting misquitos
Strong girl to lift all that weight!
home of mosquitoes
Michael Villamora just add a water pump
This concept was around for a long time hun you certainly did not come up with it.
No filter no fish 😏
Mosquitos need shallow water to survive. If it’s too deep, they will drown.
They will only drow with agitated water. They flourish in salt marshes and green pools, and those get deep.
Weird how she says she came up with this idea as if it hasn't been around for years.
This is not a pond its a pot with water and some plants.
I have a cat .I do not want she brink that water .
You mean how to breed mosquitos...
I really hope people aren't doing this and breeding thousands of mosquitoes in the process. Add a mosquitofish in there or something to prevent disease transmission.
Technically speaking.revise your title.change it to mosquito breeding pond
