Taurus 917C at the range: Does it hold a candle to its predecessor?!

- Taurus introduces a throwback to the original 92 compact Beretta clone the 917c. In this video we will explore its newly added features and determine if it really is better, worse or no different from the original or even its full sized version. Let’s shoot!!
Most people don't know, but this Taurus is a Beretta. Beretta supplied the Brazilian army, but in the 80s the contract was not renewed. Then Beretta sold the factory in Brazil to Taurus, which continued to manufacture the Beretta with the name pt 92 and its variants.
That’s interesting! Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
This is common knowledge
Thanks for watching
The Taurus PT-92 is not an exact Beretta copy. Safety/decocker is on the frame on the Taurus (which I prefer), whereas it’s on the slide on the original Beretta 92. There are other differences.

Recoil looks to be very light.
It wasn’t too bad actually. For a 9mm, it shoots well and is not uncomfortable for the price tag. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already
You think this is too big for concealed carry ?
I think a lot of it has to do with the size of the person, if you were larger then yes it is certainly formidable for carry! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already
Nice review. i am thinking of such a pistol, as i have a striker fired nice pistol but now i think the manual safety is very important. and its budget friendly as i think, so your video is what i actually was looking for. Thanks for your review.
Ty you sir for watching and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
As hard as it may be to believe it's not A clone Taurus Bought the Brazilian Beretta facthree that was made in 1974. They are using the same factory and the same machines that beretta did to make the 92. So I'm not quite sure that you can call It A clone made on the same machines in the same factory.

@@GSquaredTactical I'll go subscribe now simply because you actually answer. That actually means something to me
@jasonc5171 Ty sir we always answer. Good, bad or indifferent we couldn’t do it without your support so taking time to comment deserves a answer and that will never change
"Made on the same machines in the same factory" is indeed NOT the same. Beretta trains their employees differently than Taurus. I own a "Hecho in Brazil" Taurus. The parts are all there, but close inspection of said parts will reveal that they are not finished, as in polished and/or fitted. Once I disassembled and fixed these issues myself, it's a great firearm.
A welder in one man's hands won't necessarily give the same results in another man's hands, just like any tool, paintbrush, etc.
@Capt_Killingfield that is very interesting and also very true. Thanks for sharing!! Please be sure to subscribe if you have not already
Is this new? Because I've had a 917c for decades
New yes because they discontinued it for quite sometime and brought it back with a few changes. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Yes
Love the M9 style of this gun and appears super reliable. I’ll wait a year for Taurus to come out with some stainless models before picking on up.
Yeah that’s probably a good idea. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
Confused..I've had a stainless 917c for years
Is the whole gun stainless or just the slide?
Perhaps I wasn’t clear. I am waiting for a polished or satin nickel finish becomes available. Too many black guns already
True
Did I hear you say the 92 (Beretta?) is pushing $1k? I see the 92fs models and the 92X (non-Performance) models running $550 to $750 everywhere. Even the stainless model can be had for $750ish. The M9A3/4, 92Xi, and the Performance models get up there around $1k and up.
I think what Tree meant was an overall average so if you take the “” pimped out models and then the standard run of the meal FS models and you do an overall average, it can get close to $1000 but yes you are correct the standard model runs around 600

@@GSquaredTactical Yeah that could be true. I really made the comment so that others considering a "run of the mill" Beretta would have more information and not be put off by prices.
Right
The grip looks like the Centurion version, am I correct? Oops forgot my post on your previous video! 😂
Yes sir thanks for watching
Does it work with g3 mags like was speculated in your initial review
I haven’t look into that yet but I will. Thanks for watching and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
No. It uses PT 92 mags
Thanks for the info
I myself have both guns, the PT917 as well as the cz p07
Do you like them both? Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already
Is this 917 taurus equal to beretta in quality or not
Did you ever go back out and shoot with it again? I was interested until I saw your comment on the accuracy but I'm thinking its due to the problems with the grip and trigger you had.
Unfortunately we received this for
Review from Taurus and had to send it back. No doubt that it wasn’t a good fit for us and our hand size. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
its not always the grips the hand over hand grip method I am not a fan it does not work for everyone I was taught by a retired FBI firearms instructor who advocated the tea cup and saucer method in 44 years it has never failed me
@bernardconeghen gotta do what works for you bro nothing wrong with that. That’s for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
The sight are actually the way i like them. Thats a good thing about Sig sight being numbered. Adjust to suiye shooter. Cool video 👍👍

@@GSquaredTactical hit sub ½ way through the video 👍
@jimchambers7548 Ty sir
The issue is Garsin makes this same gun runs great oh... Its 139$ less when Taurus has these on sale
Girsan ! .. Saw them for 300-320 like months ago
I haven’t looked into the Girsan. The only reason that we reviewed this gun is because Taurus sent it to us. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
Right
They are the taurus version of the centurion have a PT 92 just lube the mag button grips were never their strong point had mine changed. their big advantage the frame mounted safety decocker enjoy
Yeah grips will need to be changed and looking for an extended mag release option. Thanks for watching and commenting please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Will these accept all the Langdon upgrades?
Which upgrades in specific are you talking about?
@@GSquaredTactical Trigger Job in a Bag.
@steven3379 I would feel more comfortable talking to Langdon specifically. I know they do design work with the 92 specifically so metal types and other things might play a factor as far as size and other details
Nice I been wanting to see this function
Function and reliability seem fine but I wouldn’t buy this gun just because we are not a horrible shot and we could not hit the broad side of a barn at 10 yards and it is way too thick for me to consider it a ““ compact. Thanks for watching.
@@GSquaredTactical thank you for being honest . I have been thinking about a 92 just wanted to see this review first on Taurus version
Beretta even the standard stock is way better.
How you rank a cz 75 c against other guns
There is no comparison CZ is the best ever!! Please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Can you find a holster for these?
I would imagine that any Beretta 92 railed version holster would work. I don’t carry this so I wouldn’t know specifically no sir. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I don't like the open top slide. I see it as a great big dirt scoop. On the farm my guns always seem to attract a lot of dirt. Maybe it is more emotional as I was disappointed when the Beretta replaced the beloved 1911.
I want as much accuracy as possible. And a good trigger is part of that. I never liked the double/single trigger.
I like my Taurus G series guns. I will stick with them.
And yes as a kid there were guns we saw on TV or in movies that we thought we wanted. I would have done almost anything for a Bren Ten after seeing it in Miami Vice. Which wasn't the only thing on the show that made my eyes bulge out and my heart to race.
I couldn't afford it nor was I old enough to buy the Bren. If I had it today though it would be worth a good chunk of money.
Thanks for the review.
Yeah it’s definitely not a gun meant for the woods or most outdoor work environments. It’s those flashback movies that remind us of guns that “made our childhood”. Thanks for watching and the subscription!
You're not going to have eye or ear protection in a real gunfight. Trolls are going to hate no matter what liked your video.
Thank you sir and that is the absolute truth. Thanks for watching and we hope you will subscribe if you haven’t already
I had purchased a Beretta APX A1 full size for carry at work. Pistol shot consistent low right. My boss even tried it and had the same results. Very frustrating. Plus with my aging eyes the blacked out rear with tritium front sight was not working. And the trigger was grating my finger much like this pistol was with yours. When we would do 500 plus rounds at the range it became unpleasant. Shot my directors Sig 320 Compact and placed five shots touching in the middle of a small circle on the target. Long story shortened APX out new Sig 320 Compact and my qualifications are so easy. Get what fits. Thanks for the video.
Couldn’t agree more, get what fits! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already
