This represents the finest test on the G3c I've ever seen. Never seen this type setup before and it really shows the pistols capability. I will definitely look for higher grain ammo next time I'm at the range with mine.
I'm considering buying a G3c, so I've been watching a lot of videos; this is very helpful. I've only ever bought 115 grain for the guns I have had, hadnt thought about guns liking different grains and it being that noticeable.
I recently purchased this firearm. I own multiple revolvers that are old but very much serviceable. I wanted to get something less expensive to see if this was for me. Right out of the box it fit my hand and felt great. I put 50 rounds through it not paying attention to the grain which was 115. My groupings were very similar to what this video shows. I really enjoyed shooting this firearm. It will be interesting to see how well heavier grains work next trip. This video is by far the most informative about something I would have never considered had I not stumbled upon this one. I am new to the 9mm world. By my first visit to the range, I may be hooked. Can't wait to get back to the range with the knowledge this video has provided.
Your remarks pretty much sums up my gun collection too: I own some really nice S&W revolvers and a nice Sig W German P series. So carrying any of those was out of the question! Then I stumbled (quite by accident) upon a Taurus G3C and bought it. Couldn’t pass up the price, $300, and it came with 3, 12 round mags. I’ve run 115 FMJ, 124 JHP, and 124 JHP +P’s through mine without any issues. Great carry gun so far!
I have the g2c and it's more accurate than I am.. 40-50 feet and it's just one ragged hole..I enjoy shooting it the most of my 9mm pistols.. i have never tried 147 but I might just to see.. hope you are enjoying yours
Excellent demonstration. I'm old school and remember when the Ransom rest was *the* standard for firearms testing in the 1970s-'90s, especially with the NRA/American Rifleman reviews, and reviews by some of the better (and better funded) magazines. I see very few UA-cam gun channel hosts doing credible testing for accuracy and grouping, mostly handholding with only a few using sandbags. I read some reviewers claiming they got better groups off sandbag rests, but given the human element there's no way of knowing whether they adjusted their holds mid-test to compensate for perceived loosening of groups, or off-center groups. The Ransom rest eliminates that human fudge factor from getting repeatable results. Back in the 1990s I was a workplace safety consultant and recommended the Ransom rest for safe testing by a small firearms manufacturer after an employee was injured while testing a firearm that blew apart while handholding the gun. I'm not sure whether they followed through, but the Ransom rest should be the industry standard for all firearms manufacturers.
Hi Paralex Thank you so much for the comments and kind words, greatly appreciated. Yes you are correct in most all cases all manufacturers use the Ransom Rest as the standard. As far as reviewers saying they got better group by hand. This is entirely posable if they do not learn and or use the machine right. There are many people who inadvertently over tighten the gun in the grip insert in the Ransom Rest. Then say the gun doesn't group or I got better of hand. This is only because they over clamped the gun. This is easy to do when you are thinking accuracy you want things snug and rigid issue is the grip inserts are designed to be the durometer of the human hand. Just like if you push on your index trigger finger you will feel flesh and it will give some then muscle and bone. The grips are the same way as your hand it will give, and if you over tighten the gun, you can swell the grip then the gun won't settle and they get frustrated and move on to sandbag instead of reading our instruction manual or calling us up. Machine is easy to use but you do need to know it. Keep in mind the human hand grip is not that strong, honestly it is not. And keep in mind even girls shoot these guns. So if needed the Mil spec for the Ransom Rest is 19-inch LBs for steel frame and 14-to-15-inch LBS for polymers. when fighting the A,B,C knobs. Honestly extended fingers work very well to clamp. But that is when you learn the machine but if needed a Inch lb wrench can be the way to go if you want or can't figure it out because, as the Military calls it, be a Jar head and over clamp. In case you wanted that info but i can see you are a user and believer in the Rest, and we thank you for that support. Yes, it is true no firearm model goes into service for DOJ DHS or FBI without ransom Rest test. We are as the Military calls the industry standard, this is only due to Ransom Rest has been tried and true and as the Military say it is the only machine duplicatable to the end user. Thank you for using a Ransom Rest it is the safe way to test you are corect again.
This is one of the best videos I've seen for testing a firearm. I just recently bought a Taurus C3C so I've been watching plenty of videos. I think you made one of the most useful videos testing what ammo works best that you could get and how accurate the Taurus G3C can be.
Such a great video and very informative. I actually have this firearm and recently purchased it so this really helped. The set up you have, as well as the camera angles are perfect. Thanks for taking the time to do this I can imagine getting everything set up took a couple of hours
OUTSTANDING Presentation! I've Been Following Ransom Rest since the 1980's. This Is The Space X of Firearms Accuracy Research. Great Job Done By All, Including The CEO of The Target Stapling Department.
Excellent video thank you very much for all the information. Update. Now that I have my gun and have been training with it it is a tack driver with gold dot + P ammo 124 grain. Just what you want with a carry gun. And also shoot to point of aim. With factory sites. The 17 round factory magazines are beautiful. Great ergonomics. Can’t say enough fantastic little carry gun. And the best thing is you don’t mind caring it because it’s not your most expensive gun.
Every pistol is different. I have one that shoots aluminum-cased Blazer ammo into a ragged hole at 15 yards while another produces 7-inch groups at the same distance with the same ammunition.
@Paul Clarke I actually wasn't thinking about the aspects of it in the Self Defense Role, but in the range/fun time poking holes in targets aspect. One needs good range time to keep their SHTF time in good order. Besides, few people do as well in live action as they do on the range.
Great video. Been carrying a p95 for 16 years as my duty gun and had to sell it when I retired due to the Times. Looking for an inexpensive gun for my RV.
THANK YOU !! I just purchased my 1st hand gun. And decided upon this Taurus G3C. And was very curious which Ammo I should go with. YOU have saved me a ton of $ and Time. Much Appreciated..
Owned my g3c toro for a few months now... Mine has been flawless after 600 or so FMJ and jhp of various kinds, and surprisingly accurate... I can easily hit beer cans at 15-20 yards. Maybe I got lucky?
This is a great video. What would be even more interesting is to do the same type of tests with handguns in a similar category like 9mm compact, etc. For ammo, major mfg. JHP, FMJ, grain category.
I noticed on the second group of the remington 124 the sight picture shifted left. The aim was slightly left at first but the first shot made it more left. I own one of these and have put them through the same hole at 15yrds
I noticed too, don’t like the fact that he is only using one beast clamp in the front, beast clamps are not ment to hold in place while you are hammering. Maybe anchor bolt down the ransom at four points would be more accurate results.
I would be interested in seeing accuracy of defensive loads for this firearm. I own one and I prefer heavier loads for defense but would be interested in seeing what performs well in this. I have been looking at the Fort Scott TUI 9mm which is a solid spun copper projectile that has been claimed to have pinpoint accuracy. However, I have never seen anyone else do the battery of testing that you did in this video. Fort Scott TUI rounds are rather light, though, with some being only 80gr and nearly 1400 fps. In a defensive situation a person would not likely be 15 yards away engaging a target at that distance they would fire a shot and look for cover. Most defensive engagements would be under 10 yards and more than likely be under or at 5 to 7 yards which will significantly shrink the group size. Thanks for the video. I will seek out all 147 grain for training from now on to see if that increases my accuracy with this little critter. I thought it was me because my groups with 115gr and 124gr is garbage.
👍Thks for that ammo test. Your vid solved my accuracy prob i have with that G3. Was using 115gn Rem at 4yds and getting embarrassing results. Now i feel better about that gun. Thks again.✌🇺🇸🇺🇸
I like so much your highly technical assessment! Now i will use 147-150Gr amunition. In my first day shooting with my G3C mi shots landed mostly low left. Thanks!!!
Me too...on several guns including G26 and G19, and a S&W SDEv9. So yeah, operator error on my part. Love the G3c w/factory 15 rd mag. Perfect EDC for me. I sold the G26 and put the profit on an AR build! :)
Dang that explains a lot about my G3C for sure. No doubt the experts at the range are correct that it's my grip (new-ish to handguns) but I can see where shooting 115 grain isn't helping. Also see where a little windage adjustment wouldn't hurt my cause either.
Really should have done more of the 115.. from a science perspective, that would have had value rather than just assume it hates all lighter rounds. But in your video, you can do what ya want.
"If you're not testing you're guessing.". Thanks for that test. I'll be checking your channel now to see what else you've tested. P.S. I made the same "20 lb trigger pull" about the staple gun a second before I heard your colleague make the joke. Thanks for the empirical data.
You I believe meant to say planned before that demic part of your opening right, most everyone understands that by now I hope. Great video I much appreciate the detailed testing and results. No lack of chemsky trails over that way either, wow just getting everyone left, right and from above. I smh
I have the G2C and found its not bullet weight but bullet right away I got the gun and the shop only had aguila 115 grain FMJ ammo got 200 rounds was not impressed with the 3 to 4 inch groups off hand then I got some federal and Winchester 115 grain FMJ ammo and the groups cut in half to under 2 inch off hand at 10 yards I did notice the bullet length of the aguila was a little shorter the the other bullets
I think maybe a a quick first lube would have been a good idea. the storage lube is barely existent on a lot of new guns. (if he lubed it, and I missed it, I apologize, I am not a pro...and he looks like he knows what's up, so I'll assume he did, and stfu lol).
Bought one of these a month ago. Ran everything but 147. Fail to feed heavy hollow points. Not really failed tp feed but failed to ho completely into battery .
Sorry about that, we added a caption at the bottom, but it does pan and get hid by the video. Thank you for mentioning it, I realize I made that mistake. Good watching out my friend.
I would give it a try. No barrel is the same. No gun is the same. But given this test and the machining standards of today. It is a good place to start for your G3. Thanks for your interest in our video, and the comment. Hope this info helps.
Yep, sorry about that, recording live videos of pour test all the bumps and hiccups get on camera to, As we like to say real world data real world test. Real world mistakes haha
Hi Guys. Great video, thank you now I know what ammo to buy for my G3c. I also purchased a Canik TP9SF Elite and I was wondering if you guys can also make a video with the Canik. Thank you.
Also why skip out on the ammo? You had it, may as well test it. One company's beans are never the same as another's, you of all people should know that.
This was SO helpful. I’ve been using 115 grain for training but I had no idea that 147 grain would be the G3C choice of ammo. Great video
When i bought my g3c i had gotten 115 grain jhps but i suppose im switching it up lol.
Federal Syntech 150 grain 9mm is incredibly accurate in my G3C .😁👍
Doesn't like reloads

Man it sounds like someome needs a neti pot. Thanks for the video. Heard some pretty excellent things coming from Taurus.
All my G series pistols and even my TH9c shoot very well with 135-147 grain ammo. I plink with 115 but fyi all Taurus g pistols love the heavy stuff

Hope to see this with the GX4.

Great info. Not sure how well 147 would expand out of this short barrel however.
Very helpful. Thanks so much
I had similar grouping. Glad to know it's not me and I'll be getting 147 grain from now on
Thanks bro. Just picked up a G3c and this helps a lot.
Also anyone else thinking Stegal? 😂
That was interesting. never seen a video like this to demonstrate such information. Just recently got the G3c, thanks for sharing !
Really great informative and no BS!
Just bought a G3C. This is a very good test and a very informative video. Great job on the video!
Thank you for your information

very impressed with your presentation, Sir.
After these tests ..which ammo would you prefer for the g3c?
You aim it all the way to the left from the cam

Great demo review.
Put a dial indicator on your Ransom rest to make sure it is registering the same each time.
Oh man…. Dress this guy up like Steven Segal & make a comedy/parody video…. It would definitely go viral ….
Whacha think ???
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to do this. Appreciate it very much...!
Great informative video!
Thanks for the information

So... perhaps the ammo brand may be a major consideration for accuracy?
Who knew that even fatter Steven seagal knew a lot about firearms.

Well Done !! Very informative. My Buddy Tj also impressed. Thanks
I'm gonna tell my kids this is Steven Seagal!
Great review, one of the best!
Very well done. Thank you.

Man this would be my dream job.
Based on this video i tried some Fiocchi 147 FMJ and JHP in my G3c and my pistol also likes the 147 Fiocchi ammo.

Great test!
Great video. What American Eagle tested so well at the end? 147? 124? I couldn’t tell from that video. Thanks!
