I visited Macari’s on Denmark street in November 19 , it was a birthday treat from my wife to go to London and visit the guitar Mecca that Is Denmark street. Out of all the guitar stores we visited , the only shop that I felt welcome was Macari’s . I was able to try out some top notch guitars and talk to guys who are as passionate about music as I am. Love these videos , you’re a class act and I want to thank you for keeping Macari’s alive 👏👏👏👍

Hello Anthony! You probably won't remember me, but I dropped into your shop when it was still on the Charing Cross Road, and we got talking about the early Tonebenders, their cuicuits and components.
You could tell that I was a Sola Sound Tonebender nut case - I have been studying and building clones for 20 years now - so you asked me down to your workshop to have a look at the 5 Mk1 prototypes which you had just had delivered.
I was happy to confirm that every aspect of the circuit, components used and case work were 100% accurate to the originals.
You showed me the amazing 'workshop' book belonging originally to Dick Denny with all the notes and drawings for the Vox AC30 etc.etc.
My visit was an extremely interesting one.
I never got round to bringing in some of my pedals for you to see, and now I'm too ill to make more than a very few.
I find it strange that some people quibble about the price you charge for your pedals - they are the ultimate pedals of their type, and ultimate quality is always expensive - but it will always at least hold it's value, and in my opinion will only ever increase in desirability.
Thank you for all that you have done to keep the Sola Sound name alive, and for keeping hordes of us pedal nerds happy!

Absolutely amazing pedals and I got my email as I am on the waiting list but I am slightly conflicted. Since Rhetts video playing the Mk1, this new batch is selling for almost twice the price of the one he purchased. I'm sure they will still sell out immediately but can't help but feel like you're cashing in on the back of that video and I and I'm sure many other true fans of these historic pedals have been priced out this time around. £800 is an insane amount of money for a pedal but £1500? In the current economic climate that's crazy and they are never going to make it into the hands of the same up and coming, pioneering musicians who made them famous so many years ago. That to me is a real shame.

oi !!! 1000 and 1250 ( youre quoting the price inc 20% sales tax ) . We make British handmade pedals starting at 200 pounds - there's something for everyone !!! This is the Rolls Royce !!! and as for cashing in . . . think there are other companies ( who use our trademarks , designs and family history to sell their pedals ) you could be commenting on - ha !! hope you get one - rock on - Ant

@@macaris_official thank you for replying and I apologise if I come across as rude at all. I appreciate the craftsmanship that goes in to each pedal and I agree there are lots of pedal companies cashing in on the Tone Bender design. The original Mk1 cost 14 guineas when it was released, thats £221 in todays money. I realise the components are a lot rarer to come by nowadays and those components cost a lot more to buy but even at £1250 I find it hard to swallow. These pedals will more than likely end up in studios, on pedal boards of well known UA-cam guitar channels for comparison videos or go to older guitar enthusiasts who can afford them rather than on stages for a whole new generation of rockers. After watching Rhetts video I came straight to the Macaris website to note my interest having convinced myself that £800/£900 was a crazy price to pay but what the hell you only live once and I think I'm probably just a bit gutted that the list price of the new batch leaves me unable to justify the purchase now. I still love Macaris and the history of these pedals and hopefully the lucky few who do buy them put them to good use! 🤘🏻

@@stevenisbrand511 nooo - not rude at all - all cool - totally justified - and its something that keeps me awake at night - i saw a comment the other day on a youtube video by another pedal company that shall not be named saying - Macaris are greedy like ( a guitar company that will not be named ) - and that also keeps me awake at night - the fact of the matter is we make very few of these pedals ,last time was 4 years ago and we just want to make the best version of it known to man - its been 4 years of working and not cutting one corner on the way . But you know that 200 pound pedal we make is totally superb - we make hardly anything on it but it confirms we're not some sort of elitist bunch of &*^%ers :) ! :) .

You can build a mk1 tonebender for your self and it won't cost you all that much money to do it...probably. I know a guy that sells mk1's for $150. So they are not unattainable for musicians. Especially these days. I make them and sell them for as much as I can. I would love to sell my pedals for 1500.
