As maybe the most trade mark abused company in the pedal world we would like to point out that ' Kawasaki' is the trade mark of Kawasaki Japan and just a nickname for this pedal - . We claim no affiliation , as much as we'd like to , with the Great Kawasaki brand . We are Sola Sound and we make Tone Benders - Rock and Roll !

Is it on battery? How do you open the wah wah?
Is this an episode of The Fast Show?
Does this pedal have enough midrange?
This unit is killer on bass. It does remind of the blend circuit on a Orange bass amp. That makes sense now that I know the history…. Thanks for all you do.

February 7 marked a year since I had my Kawasaki V2. It's the only Macaris pedal that I own. When I ordered it, I was astatic and my expectations were through the roof. When it arrived, I made sure all my plans were canceled for the day so I could finally experience this big curiosity that had been waning in me for some time. It was an extremely special moment for me to plug it in for the first time and hear the glorious roar of this magnificent pedal with my guitars. It's the best overdrive, distortion, and fuzz in one box. Never had I ever played my Les Paul with the bridge volume set to 1 so much, it just produces the most amazing overdrive. Playing it with my Stratocaster is a dream, it goes from beautifully clean sounds to massive fuzz with ease. When I play my Mk IV it feels like it's a part of me when I play which is such a big characteristic of the Tone Bender family in my view. It just feels amazing/intuitive to play and it's so reactive to everything you put in it. Add a bit of delay and a tiny bit of reverb and you have yourself one of the most magnificent guitar tones that one can achieve. I literally have it on 98% of the time that I've been playing, it sounds so good that I don't want to turn it off. The Kawasaki V2 has absolutely eclipsed every expectation that I could possibly have had. It's a mainstay whenever I play electric and every bit of the pedal is crafted to such a fantastic standard. I am a massive fan of everything Macaris does and I will NEVER GET RID OF MY MK IV, IT MIGHT AS WELL BE SURGICALLY ATTACHED TO ME AT THIS POINT.
do another run
Love hearing these stories from colorsound .and sola sound . Definitely the best guitar effects pedal maker and innovator of guitar pedals. Had octivider in the 70s always thought it was a brilliant pedal . Looking to get another now .thanks
I've had three of him. The first one like the one in the video, in 1977. Then I had two more, including one with a volume knob on the side of the pedal. In addition to controlling the saturation of the guitar's volume, it is also sensitive to the touch of the pick. If you play lightly, you will have a light sound too. From clean to very hard you will have this pedal in your hands. I played with it on all the time.
Is this pedal the same as the Barnes and Mullins Champion fuzz?
I’ve got one and it’s amazing
Its similar to the sola; but its the gary version. I can just tell it uses x2 25uf instead of the 25uf and .1uf. He also likely removed the 47k-56k output resistor.
Hello Anthony! You probably won't remember me, but I dropped into your shop when it was still on the Charing Cross Road, and we got talking about the early Tonebenders, their cuicuits and components. You could tell that I was a Sola Sound Tonebender nut case - I have been studying and building clones for 20 years now - so you asked me down to your workshop to have a look at the 5 Mk1 prototypes which you had just had delivered. I was happy to confirm that every aspect of the circuit, components used and case work were 100% accurate to the originals. You showed me the amazing 'workshop' book belonging originally to Dick Denny with all the notes and drawings for the Vox AC30 etc.etc. My visit was an extremely interesting one. I never got round to bringing in some of my pedals for you to see, and now I'm too ill to make more than a very few. I find it strange that some people quibble about the price you charge for your pedals - they are the ultimate pedals of their type, and ultimate quality is always expensive - but it will always at least hold it's value, and in my opinion will only ever increase in desirability. Thank you for all that you have done to keep the Sola Sound name alive, and for keeping hordes of us pedal nerds happy!
ds1 of the day, the OG!
$1000 used for this Boss pedal on reverb lol cryyy
10CC 👀
Fuzz pedals are so lively! alive with attitude and character! When I hear a guitar player say ‘what’s the point of fuzz’ I always want to tell them to go take up sewing instead :)some of the best tones ever comes from a fuzz! Those sounds in the 60s!!! Oh yeah!!
Wowowow! The first record that I ever owned was that little paper Del Casher thing, and I think that this is the first time that I have heard a demo of a product with that sound from my childhood. I guess that I have to have one of these, now. 🤘
Great video I like demo number 1 too 🎶
16:48 Shades of ‘Hots On For Nowhere’ (Presence, 1976) 🔥 I think Marc Bolan would’ve dug it, as well…🙌 Cool distorter box! Those harmonic overtones😮
I've ordered one 🎶🎶🎸
Why do you people have to keep making expensive effect pedals that make me want to buy them?!
Brilliant 😂
Simon just radioed in from his bunker to say thank you - Ant
Prince famously used to play a Colorsound Wah before he switch to the Crybaby. I now have one of the old red body Colorsounds and also the newer inductorless ones. Clint Westwood would approve!
just had a word with Clint and he is 100% in favour , I believe he is writing a song about his wah-wah experiences as we speak .
@macaris_official - hopefully a bit of a sad song with dog and at least one truck in it.
@@v-townguitars very very sad - he's got some lyrics . . . . . . . got my foot upon the pedal Im sitting in my cab im not into heavy metal but the radio is broken and it's the only CD that i have . . . . . . . he hasn't figured out the dog bit yet
@@macaris_official I'm tearing up already. By the way Ant, this is Scott - I introduced Clint several times at Camp Bestival and we've been inseparable ever since.
ha Scott - fantastic . Clint is pretty much retired but makes the odd appearance . JoJo ( who you also introduced ) is doing some pretty cool stuff ( JoJo Macari ) - trust you;re doing well - happy new year - Ant @@v-townguitars
I had bought the wah back in 1975 picked it up for $50 bucks used I was 14 . Think I'm going to get one again thanks !
All sounds like tinny crap in an empty room at conversation level.... Turn the bloody amp up and throw down some thick carpeting, fer fuck sake.
After watching your videos now I know how to learn a new fuzz... Attack to zero and go up from there.
Skip = dumpster...for anyone wondering 😂
sounds great.
Such an interesting story. A great pedal too, of course.
Reminds me of Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre, the Inside/Aqualung era. Perhaps the name originates from one of their songs, Dharma For One🤔
Sorry I meant Benefit/Aqualung era
That enclosure chassis is not a colorsound enclosure its a Vox tone bender enclosure. I would have just asked an engineer to make a totally new solasound design and made a new circuit or team up with Jimmy Page to come up with a new circuit. Slapping a powerboost circuit into a Vox Tone Bender enclosure its not period correct. I would have preferred Solasound to come out with new circuit designs which you could have used those Vox Tone bender enclosures and came out with 3 to 5 new pedal designs with new 60s logos graphics just like the old colorsound graphics were. Put the 18vdc on a 2nd footswitch that is what I do so I can go from 9vdc to 18vdc for guitar solos to get more headroom, don't give me royalties or credit for throwing your a great idea. I'm trying to help your business out I can turn your business into selling those pedals like cupcakes you just need the ideas which I have.
You designed the first and greatest overdrive that made history and awesome guitar players sound Godly 😎
Sounds like danelectro grilled cheese distortion but you can change the wah filter on the danelectro.dod flashback fuzz is similar too
Sounds great, does a good job of boosting and bringing out the natural tones of the guitar. Gets into fuzzy overdrive territory. Looks cool in the old school casing. Love that your keeping the british traditional pedals alive. One day I may own one of your pedals to use with the box style guitars I make and play here in the UK.
This is very awesome. We have made a Powerboost using NOS components for years now called the Powerdriver, but really liking these reissues. Great work guys.
I like the Black Forest by Black Arts Toneworks. It’s based on a corsound circuit. Is that the same circuit?
@@CorbCorbin I believe the Black Forest is based on the Overdriver circuit yes. But it isnt the original circuit, it has been modified.
Buy the real thing and be done with it.
cork sniffery
🤘
Ordered today... How on earth are they not sold out!?
According to TV makers at the time removing tubes made their sets smaller. No one would buy a small set as they thought it was made small by dumbing it down. In short ...bigger was better. Later very small with early Cell Phones reversed the thinking as they cost more. So you can see that early players thought bigger pedals simply had to be better.
got two overdrivers, they're my favourite. cant wait for my spots on the 1.5 waitlist to come up, coming up on 4 years i think now!!
Congrats Nick!
Merry Christmas to the Macari family, friends and staff. ❤️🌎🌍🌏🇨🇦👍😀
That’s an insanely good pedal and sound! What Marshall amp are you using btw? Thanks
Which circuit is this ? Sounds gorgeous and the green design is brilliant
didck deeny's one knob fuzz circuit with a Dave Main hybrid germanium flavour :) - cheers Ant
Enjoyed this!
Oneof the first pedals i bought was the wah fuzz swell in yellow. Got it from Dave Simms' music in Ealing. Wish i still had it!
Wish I could afford to buy everything you make lol, for now looking on with love and envy 👍🏻
Sounds great. To expensive. So many amazing makers making this same thing for so much cheaper.
This same thing ???? Well . . . . i think you'll find they're making a copy of it :) . Total respect to all the amazing fuzz builders out there - but i think they'll be the first to agree they should be cheaper - When they've invested two generations of work and design and have enough history to call it their own product , when they've spent thousands refurbished the original machinery to make the cases and not cut a single corner in making it out of respect for their ancestors , when they've paid the original marvel that is Alan Murray to do the artwork and when they've gone to the ends of the Earth and invested in four transistors that are chosen out of hundreds and employed some of the finest fuzz builders on the planet to make the circuits and then developed their own following over 70 years - lets see how much they cost ! so , yes there are cheaper clones of everything - from Nike T Shirts to Ferraris - but . . . not 'this same thing ' :)
It’s not about whether somebody can make their own version of a MkIV for less money. Of course they can, but the builders of Sola Sound/Colorsound pedals are the top of the heap, the quality of their builds couldn’t be higher, and they have stocks of the best transistors for these fuzzes to ensure that they sound exactly like they should. These are the real thing and are arguably the best MkIVs ever produced. The limited numbers that these can be made in means that you can’t sell them for $250 and make it economically viable. If you’re fine with a copy, there are good ones out there, but this is the real thing, and I’m glad it’s available, especially now that the 70’s MkIVs are >$1000.
I think that the skeleton suit may have sold me, or it was the color, but the fact that something makes the list doesn't always reflect properly in the outcome. I hate to blame the budget, but it looms large among the few, petty excuses. Sorry, Ant. 😕
I still blame the skeleton suit
