I think they meant the version featuring Jason Derulo. To me it was terrible too. The autotune was overdone (which was completely unnecessary for the girls as seen from Part II), Derulo's adlibs overpowered the girls' vocals and the lyrics of his parts disrupted the original meaning of the song
Yes, I did mean the version with Jason Derulo- that doesn't mean it's a bad song, but the autotune and compression on the song makes the girls' vocal efforts (especially in terms of emotional delivery) seem ridiculous. And then the lyrics might be a smaller problem for others, but they're cheating on someone to be with "Jason" and then they sing about why they can't hold their hand? And then, as mentioned in the video, Jason Derulo's ad-libs while the girls were singing- eh. Just to make clear WHY it was on that list. I hope you understand xx
@@mjsjeed184 I honestly liked the jd version before i heard part 2 I then started realizing that Jason auto tuned voice was a real turn off after I started hearing some of their more raw strong vocals
I'm so glad this is finally done seeing as it was requested seemingly forever ago. Little Mix are great artists and I have a lot of respect for all their work. Obviously, THIS IS JUST A SUBJECTIVE OPINION - but I guess I'll have to stress it again. God forbid anybody has different opinions, right? I have respect for everyone, so please give me the same treatment. It's based on musical elements and always justified. I hope you guys enjoy this video- and please let me know how you would rank the albums! I love you all xx
Mjsjeed I’d rank DNA 7/10 Salute 9/10 Get Weird 8/10 Glory Days 9.5 / 10 salute was by far their best album before glory days came out, i kinda disagree that madhouse is one of the worst songs, the catchy chorus is the only thing that makes it awesome, i like the girls’ solos on madhouse but i just- meh i agree that jason derulo DOES NOT fit in secret love song, sam smith would actually be better for secret love song. salute has catchy and memorizable songs like move, nothing feels like you, salute, etc. these four walls is actually like a polished version of pretend it’s okay but it’s legendary. then we have glory days, in my opinion is by far their best album, i agree that beep beep and you gotta not are the worst, beep beep’s uncatchy vibe is what makes it ew, and you gotta not? Sounds alot like meghan trainor wrote it, because she did co write it, and power, no shade but it’s not a poor follow up of salute, power’s vibe and beats are better than salute’s and no shade tho.
Love how objective and professional your videos/reviews have always been. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber :) Keep up with the good work. Can't wait to see what you will do next ♡
Good Enough is worst song on Salute....No just no....That is my fav....The production might not be extraordinary but not to the point that it is worst....The Salute album is overall the best....Your comments are pretty accurate but the choice of best and worst song is just unacceptable
I always loving hearing your opinions as well- and this is mine. "Good Enough" might be pretty strong lyrically, but if I were to listen to the studio version of that song, it wouldn't get to me at all. The production isn't only "not extraordinary", it's awful. And I stand by that- the reason I put it with worst songs is because there were no actually bad songs on "Salute", and the production on "Good Enough" put me off most. All it means is worst songs on the album- "Good Enough" is still a good song (more so live).
Mjsjeed I aint loving the production as well but that is not to be called awful...Mr Loverboy's production is much worse...But ya vocally and lyrically, the song is definitely the best...Only one bad point wont make it the worst... I would say Stand Down is the only not as good song in Salute
The autotune and compression is a huge problem for me on "Secret Love Song"- it just makes the girls' emotional and vocal delivery pointless and the song sound shallow. And then the lyrics might be a smaller problem for others, but they're cheating on someone to be with "Jason" and then they sing about why they can't hold their hand? And then, as mentioned in the video, Jason Derulo didn't really contribute to the song either. I hope you can understand that xx
I DON’T agree for most of your best and worst because Going Nowhere is one of my faves but the lyrics are cringy and I don’t really like NEM from GD. . Madhouse is ICONIC! My opinion based on lyrics, content, message, genre and overall sound is... 4. DNA (has some great songs for a debut album, catchy pop and gave good messages to Mixers. Cringy lyrics and lacked vocals) 3. Get Weird ( Was an in and out album for ME, crazy amazing ballads and vocals yet too cheesy and pop (Hair. OMG) and wasn’t consistent enough. Not memorable to me but still selling) 2. Glory Days (Great sound for the era, vocal growth evident, needed a theme for its sound from Touch to Beep Beep confused me. Very modern and successful era) 1. SALUTE! ( Enjoyed the R&B, throwback vibe of music, Destiny’s Child reminiscent, you barely can skip a track which I love. See Me Now wasn’t a favorite but still know the lyrics, meshed well and was consistent. Every song had a great message) my fave album. I don’t like skipping tracks for albums just my opinion. Salute reigns for me!
I personally prefer "Salute" over "Glory Days", as well. But objectively, it's clear to see that there were obvious production mistakes on there whereas GD has some actually good production. And I don't necessarily think the lyrics on Going Nowhere are "cringy", sure, the mention of Xbox might not be great, and it's a pretty simple pattern, but bad? Not at all. Thank you so much for sharing your opinion, very interesting xx
Mjsjeed I love Going Nowhere but I came to the realization that Jesy's beat box, Leigh's rapping, Pez's voice and Jades adlibs at the end saved this song. I rather Going Nowhere from 5H. My opinion.
Great ranking! I love seeing how different every mixer is when it comes to their opinions. Favorite DNA songs: DNA, How Ya Doin', Red Planet, (fight me), Always Be Together and Going Nowhere, but Pretend It's OK is how I found about Little Mix. Least favorite DNA songs: Turn Your Face, Make You Believe Favorite Salute songs: Towers, Salute, Stand Down, Move Least favorite Salute songs: Mr. Loverboy, Competition Favorite Get Weird songs: Black Magic, Hair, Secret Love Songs, Lightning, OMG (fight me). Least favorite Get Weird Songs: Weird People, I Won't Favorite Glory Days songs: You Gotta Not (battle me), Beep Beep, (battle me), Shout Out to My Ex, F.U., Power, Touch, Down & Dirty, Dear Lover Least favorite Glory Days songs: No More Sad Songs, Freak.
Ahh I thought I replied to this ages ago! I'm so sorry. And obviously that's okay. The Beginning: I mean, it's a sweet song. The harmonies are great, and Leigh-Anne's and Jade's low notes are great. I also love the pre-chorus where it's Jesy/Perrie, Leigh-Anne/Jade and then all of them. The lyrics are alright- they might have seemed a bit more authentic if the girls had actually written them, and I just don't like the vagueness of it all. Is Your Love Enough?: The lyrics were honestly fine- until the bridge. After the bridge ("I, I want, want to know, know [...]) the chorus and post-chorus are repeated. The bridge was really weak lyrically, in my opinion. And if I wasn't a huge fan of the lyrics before, then I definitely wasn't after hearing the whole song. Production-wise, the song deserves credit. It's more latin than any song they've done before, and the beats set in at just the right time. It's not very original though, and I don't particularly like the fact that the beats barely change throughout the song. If I Get My Way: Honestly, while it's not too deep, I like this track's lyrical pattern. I have an issue with the whole cheating thing, but oh well. The lyrics are mostly about being with this person that is in a toxic relationship and being their shoulder to cry on even though the girls would like something more. The bridge isn't exactly incredible, but I like that they put in the situation after the person leaves and how all they can think about is them. The production is actually really good, with its catchy beat in the chorus and the drums in the verses. I like the reverb in the pre-chorus, I just wish the chorus didn't follow directly after because it's a really predictable build-up. What I find incredible about this song is the opportunity for all the girls to show off their vocals- although Jesy does fall short. Dear Lover: No doubt my favourite out of the three new tracks. Some people might not like the unconventional chorus, but credit is due for one of the most complex productions Little Mix has ever had. The beat drop could have been better, but we all know Little Mix producers aren't too good with them and I honestly don't mind it too much. The tropical sound is something completely different for Little Mix, and it really suits them. I adore the change-up before the break- it's different and fresh. The lyrics have a good concept, I like the pattern. The use of the phrase "walk the silver line" fits surprisingly well, especially looking at the progression. The girls know they won't be able to save their partner from their pain permanently, but they'll take their mind off it for the night. The vocals are incredible, with Leigh-Anne, Jade and Perrie taking turns in leading the song with great belts and high notes. Sadly, we only get one verse from Jesy on this track as well. I hope this is what you asked for, I know it's a bit long. It's 1. Dear Lover, 2. If I Get My Way, 3. Is Your Love Enough for me. Have a great day xx
Wow, i loved this video! I agree on most of it, even that secret love song ( with Jason) was not a good song because the meaning is actually gone, however pt 2 is amazing... Can you do this for fifth harmony also? Thanks!❤️
Mjsjeed now i watched your Video till the end and I'm surprised how different our music Taste is 😁 i love you gotta not and stand down but you seem to hate both 😁
I was hoping that would be clear after watching the video, but looking at the comments, I probably should have done it your way. Is there any specific song you wanted to ask about? And thank you xx
Your text is a little bit too fast. When I try to real the last sentence it always skips to the next page/part. Maybe the next time you could wait a few seconds so we can pause and real the whole text :)
The "DNA" is one of the few albums where I literally love EVERY SINGLE SONG!!!! This only happens with my favourite kpop groups aka EXO and Red Velvet!
Compression is a term that is widely used in music. In music production, it's dynamics/volume control. It's used pretty much always, especially in pop music, but it's very easy to overuse. I hope that cleared things up xx
My thoughts (just an add on to your ideas and very simple because im tired) DNA was a very experimental album, the girls getting to know themselves and each other, as well as their management figuring out what would work best (and probably having more control over them in these early days). Salute is when they started to get their legs under them and showcase their individual talents, and they were getting more comfortable in the industry (and the vocal parts were more evenly distributed, giving each girl time to shine). Get Weird was very fun, pop-ey and kind of more 'girl group' sounding, i think it was just a time for them to have fun (while still showcasing some great lyrics and vocals as they become better artists). Glory Days, like you said, was vocally incredible and had great production. I honestly love the overall feel of this album and think its very 'litte mix' (they had started to find their sound a little bit). Then ill add on LM5, Confetti and Between Us just for kicks: LM5 is probably my favorite little mix album. I love the vocals and most of the lyrics, it has a super consistent feel, has some great empowering tracks and just has a super natural flow for the most part. When I think of Confetti, my mind immediately goes to party songs, but it has its fare share of slower, more meaningful songs with great vocals (in my opinion). Overall its not my favorite as an album, but some of my favorite songs are from this era. Between Us is such a special album, and the 5 new songs have a nice sound and message. Only real note is I wish they included another version of 'woman like me' with a different feature (not Nicki Minaj). Great video on some incredibly talented girls!
Are these your own opinions on the girls albums or is this others opinions? Personally I don't see how anyone can hate 'Good Enough' it touches me everytime i listen to it. I'm gonna be very unpopular here when I say I hate 'Love Me or Leave Me' just cause in my opinion there were better songs than that on the 'Get Weird' album
Not exactly my opinion, just sort of a subjective review from a musical standpoint. And I don't hate "Good Enough", its production just takes away from the song's authenticity and emotional delivery- in my opinion. Just to make it clear, this isn't how I would actually rate my favourite albums or songs. I like "Love Me Or Leave Me", but I agree that there are better songs on the album. Thank you for sharing your opinion xx
I do! Especially Jade's verse. It just makes a lot more sense lyrically (I mean, you cheat on someone and then wonder why you can't go out with the person you're cheating with?), and the vocals are a lot clearer. I still wish they had toned down on the autotune, especially with Jesy, but it is a good song.
Wait..wasn't No More Sad Songs right after Nobody Like You, not Private Show? I thought that was REALLY clever on their part, putting a song dealing with not wanting to listen to sad break-up songs right after a..well....sad break-up song. XD
My faves on each album DNA: Turn Your Face, DNA, Wings, Going Nowhere Salute: Good Enough, Move, Salute, See Me Now Get Weird: Lightning, I Love You, ADIDAS, Weird People Glory Days: Freak, Power, FU, Private Show
I know, it's been a while. You have to understand that they're a lot of work, especially if we're talking five members like in One Direction. I'm guessing it'll be another week or two, sorry xx
I got very confused at you calling track order 'arrangement' and talking about actual musical arrangement in 'production' but otherwise it was cool video. I mostly agree with you but still my favourite is 'Salute' (maybe it's bc of nostalgia)
Hey! Can I ask your honest opinion on the one they should have chosen to feature on secret love song pt. I? Because i think zayn fits the song and he fits with the girls voices too even though it would have been awkard but his the only male artist that comes to my mind but shawn mendes and harry styles would be good too i think? Hahaha So what do you think?
Nothing Else Matters Oh well now Metallica's one is stuck in my head.. Can't decide which one is better, Metallica or Little Mix. I'd say one of the best from each respective genre.
I completely respect your opinion. Like, I am so proud of the girls as they have came along and as they have been through this incredible journey! But some of your opinions in Get Weird kind of made me (not mad but...ok.) Anyway, in Secret Love Song I do understand that maybe Jason Derulo did ruin some parts but, him and Perrie sound perfect! It was music to my ears. But for Hair, I absolutely adored that song! Like the lyrics in it and everything was so like “Yep he can f*ck off now!” And I loved it! I respect your opinion in Glory Days. Anyway this is just simply me, ranting lol. Quick question, what do you think of the 3 new songs from Glory Days Platinum Edition? My favourite was If I Get My Way! xxx❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😂😂😂
Thank you for being so respectful! I get that it can be annoying to hear someone dislike songs or albums that you adore. And I do like Get Weird, but I really think there were male singers that would have been a better fit for "Secret Love Song" than Jason Derulo. And yes, I understand that it was probably just an empowering song, but I wish there would have been some lyrical progression and better production! I have already answered that question, so if you don't mind, I'll just copy it for you. My favourites go: 1. Dear Lover, 2. If I get My Way, and 3. Is Your Love Enough?. Thank you again for your constructive criticism, I appreciate it xx Is Your Love Enough?: The lyrics were honestly fine- until the bridge. After the bridge ("I, I want, want to know, know [...]) the chorus and post-chorus are repeated. The bridge was really weak lyrically, in my opinion. In my opinion DNA Best Songs: Turn Your Face Madhouse Case Closed DNA Worst Songs: Love Drunk Always Be Together Wings Rating: 6/10 Salute Best Songs: Good Enough Towers These Four Walls About The Boy Worst Songs: Move A Different Beat Stand Down Ranking: 9/10 Get Weird Best Songs: Love Me Or Leave Më I Love You Secret Love Song Part2 Love Me Like You Worst Songs: Black Magic A.D.I.D.A.S Rating: 7/10 Glory Days Best Songs: If I Get My Way Nobody Like You Your Love Freak Is Your Love Enough? Worst Songs: Oops Dear Lover Beep Beep Touch Rating: 10/10 LM5 Best Songs: Monster In Me Wasabi Forget You Not Woman’s World Notice Think About Us Worst Songs: Told You So The Cure Only You Rating: 9/10 My favoured order Glory Days LM5/Salute Get Weird DNA
audrey is gay. It’s not that I don’t like any. Because I like every song they have made. And I wouldn’t skip any but the ones I put as my worst I’ve either over played and get boring , are too repetitive or I don’t think their voice suits as much as their other songs
I agree the features in Get Weird were great, but what about the features during DNA (T-Boz in red planet/Missy Elliot in How Ya Doin') and Glory Days (Kid Ink, Machine Gun Kelly and Stormzy in Touch, No More Sad Songs and Power). I would also be curious as to seeing a Fifth Harmony version of this, especially seeing how you feel about how the groups transition into a Quartet VS their Five Piece Albums. Amazing Video though. I adore your non-subjective view and always keep objective. While I don't agree with a lot of the Worst Song choices ( For Real, you may just need to go to a Madhouse for putting Madhouse is the worse lol 😂 jks.), can't wait to see what you do next.
Okay so I adore T-Boz, I do, but during the DNA era, the girls just weren't really mature enough in their sound to work with someone like T-Boz. Missy Elliot was a great fit for "How Ya Doin'", if you ask me. Well and in the Glory Days era, I was already extremely critical of the girls' feature choices, so when they put Kid Ink on "Touch", I was extremely disappointed. He didn't ruin the song, but he didn't contribute anything to it, and I'm very glad I didn't hear anything about the feature version for a long time. And then came Machine Gun Kelly, and I was extremely worried- because how were they gonna fit HIM on a Little Mix song without it sounding misplaced? But it worked. I liked his lyrics, and I liked the vibe he brought to the song. So when Stormzy came into the picture, I wasn't as worried. It worked with MGK, and Stormzy is no doubt way more talented, so nothing could go wrong, right? Well. I was wrong- because while Stormy was actually a good fit for the song, and it was clear to see how much be contributed to the song, the lyrics were what disappointed me. They started off strong, then the middle part was really hollow, but at least it ended strong again. I wouldn't cut him from the song, but it could have ended better- I definitely expected more. And yes, I will definitely do this for Fifth Harmony as well! Thank you so much. Well, "Madhouse" is just a completely mad song, to be fair. Its production is bad, and the lyrics aren't good (I still like the song). Your comment was great- I love people that criticise me but stay fair. Have an incredible day xx
Mjsjeed I agree on all of that. Missy Elliot is the only remix I love more than the original (The original was good, but got overly repetitive and felt incomplete for me.) Sean Paul is their worse one yet. Madhouse is my personal favourite from DNA. I kinda liked the more manic production due to the Madhouse theme. The lyrics lost my in areas, but a song about how music makes you feel really got me due to how much I love music. There were some weak songs you chose which I 100% agree (You Gotta Not, SLS (Tho only part 1), Beep Beep and OMG), and 100% agree with all Get Weirds Bests, as well as the ordering of the Albums, so I'm pretty much on the same wave length there, so great job lol 😂 Thank you, Hope you have a good day too 😄
i kinda like the they didn't showcase their vocal range as much in salute, i don't think it would have set well with the production/types of song they went for, but there were definitely a few songs they could have done more vocally. they still hit some impressive notes compared to their previous album, they just weren't as apparent as in glory days or get werid. some examples are jesy A5 (head voice) in the background, leigh's harmonised F5 belt in a different beat, and jade's harmonised G#5 belts in the background of towers. i definitely think this should hace been the album for them to explore with lower notes though. overall, i think it's a solid pop/r&b album, especially by pop girlgroup in 2013... i really enjoyed this album and thought it was very well put together, it's my favourite of their along glory days. i hope their next album is more r&b-ish with maybe some hip hop sounds :)
I mostly agree with you. I really love SLS and Good Enough too. You Gotta Not is probably the song I hate the most. Competition deserved to be a single. That song is a bop.
What a great video 👏 I agree with you that the albums' productions are their biggest pitfall. I really hope these issues are addressed in LM5. Also, cool it with the studio tweaking on their vocals, it's an insult to their incredible talent. Sometimes I feel their voices straying into Chipmunk territory on Glory Days, especially Jade, and I don't see the need for it. Perhaps because it's a dance/house-heavy album and the producers wanted everything to sound more 'hyped'. I also agree with you about Perrie. I worry she is straining too much, especially on songs like SLS and Power. All the girls are super talented but I don't want them to tear their vocal chords apart. I hope LM5 has a more chill, vibey sound so they can rest a bit. I wonder what you thought of the Glory Days Platinum Edition tracks: Is Your Love Enough?, Dear Lover and If I Get My Way? Maybe it's just me, but I kinda felt an improvement in the production of these songs.
Thank you so much!! Firstly, I hope they get a new management and along with that better producers. That's so true as well, it just isn't authentic. Well, it would be incredible if they could get some better vocal coaches and use some correct technique for a change, especially Perrie as she is required to do many belts. That would be the first thing, and then a bit of vocal rest between their last tour and their next album! If it's okay with you, I'll just copy my "review" I sent someone else. I agree that the production definitely was better than on any of their other songs (other than "Competition" and a few other exceptions, maybe). You’re welcome. I agree, their management is terrible. There have been so many wasted opportunities, especially regarding their promotion in the US. I don’t understand why the girls don’t have vocal coaches warning them day and night to look after their voices. But then, I don’t know anything about the music industry, so maybe they aren’t used very often. You’re so right, they barely had any ‘rest’ as the LM5 cycle is rumoured to be starting up soon, but then I suppose their label will want to capitalise on Glory Days’ huge success. Thanks so much for your thoughts on the Platinum Edition songs! I really appreciate it. Dear Lover is my favourite track too. Even though IYLE has gotten so much hype, I find it a bit samey. It feels like a lesser version of Touch to me. IIGMY is indeed a bit of a lyrical departure from LM’s usual stuff, but still fun nevertheless. It is strange that Jesy’s solos are so few on these songs as I feel her voice lends itself so well to their dancey tracks, but it is nice to see Leigh come through more at the same time. One of the things I appreciate the most about LM is their democratic approach to solo distribution.
Vocal coaches are common in the music industry, but you'd be surprised how many of them actually give training based on false anatomy/facts. Seems like we were right, Leigh-Anne said they were going to release their album this year. Luckily, they won't start touring until next year! No problem at all! I'm so glad to see someone share that opinion, most people prefer the other two. Little Mix honestly rarely make actually bad songs and none of the platinum tracks were bad. I guess Jesy just wasn't comfortable with the other parts and I'm glad she didn't mind the one verse. Definitely agree with you on that, Leigh deserves more parts. It's easy to see that Little Mix actually know instantly which parts they're comfortable with, and I guess that's why Perrie and Jade do get the most parts. I definitely also appreciate the otherwise "democratic approach to solo distribution". Love how we share a lot of the same opinions xx
That’s shocking; there are doing their clients/singers a major disservice in that case. You’d think any vocal coach worth their money would have a word with the singer they’re training when they can clearly hear them straining during a performance. If amateurs like me can notice it, surely they can! I’m glad. I think they’ll start the LM5 album cycle with a lead single in the summer, probably around the time that their Summer Hits tour kicks off in July, leading to another Q4 release for the album in Nov/Dec. Hopefully this gives them a decent rest, even though they are going back into the studio in March. It’s funny, I usually find myself taking a while to warm up to the ‘instant hit’ songs that everyone else likes, such as Touch and IYLE. I think it is because they are a bit repetitive, whereas the likes of Dear Lover seems a tad less… trendy? I notice Leigh is getting a fair bit of the ad-libs now as well, along with Perrie and Jade, which is probably another reason why Jesy got less solo time on the platinum tracks. I’d like to hear more Jesy try more ablibs in LM5 but, as you say in your vocal analysis video, belting is not really her strong suit. I’m glad you agree about the solo distribution as well! It seems so rare for this to happen in a pop group. I like that everyone in the group has the opportunity to grow, which they all are now doing. I can’t stand when groups consisting of 4 or 5 members are continuously dominated by 1 or 2 members. Why bother having so many members if you’re not going to utilise them all? xx
For me is, best DNA song: always be together, who we are who are, change your life, pretend is ok, love drunk, madhouse, worst DNA song: DNA, red planet, going nowhere, make you believe, turn your faces, how ya doing, best salute song: move, nothing feels like you, Mr loverboy, towers, about the boy, these four walls, stand down, worst salute song: boy, see me now, competition, best get weird song: omg, I won't, I love you, love me or leave me, SLS part 2, love me like you, black magic, grown, worst get weird song: lightning, A. D. I. D. A. S, weird people, hair, best glory days song: touch, f. U, nothing else matters, no more sad song, freak, power, worst glory days song: You gotta not, private show, down and dirty, opps
Although I don't agree with a lot of this it's interesting to see. Personally Get Weird is my favourite album because I can't name one song I dislike on that album (even though I can understand why people could lol). Glory Days would have to be my least favourite. I found SOTME obnoxious,, although I do enjoy Touch and Down and Dirty. I like the studio version of Power, but when performed live it seems difficult for the ladies to sing (probably because they're vocals need rest.) Salute and DNA are about the same for me, but I usually listen to Salute over DNA.
Also a problem I have is with their fts. I can't name one feature where I felt like they added something to do the song that wasn't already there. For me they just make it worst. (The only ft I somewhat liked I suppose was Sean Paul on hair, but only at the start to get the song hyped up and going, otherwise his verse was mediocre.)
4. DNA- I enjoy many songs on the album but it’s a bit all over the place songs like ‘Red Planet’ and ‘Mad House’ don’t really fit in to an album full of very pop and fun songs. Its also not as good as other album in terms of production and lyrics as they are very immature compared to other albums 3. Salute-I also really enjoy this album and it is very cohesive although I think songs like ‘Move’ and ‘Stand Down’ don’t fit the darker theme of the Album. The production is very late 90s early 2000s and I believe this is why it is there Least successful album in terms of sales because it wasn’t modern enough but the lyric were very meaningful and had lots of substance and it is definitely there deepest album 2.Get Weird- This is the only album that I will never skip a track on it is a quintessential pop album and is so fun and colourful. ‘Lightning’ although a very good song is the only track that doesn’t really fit the album as the production is very dark I’m compression to the other tracks. It showcases vocals in many tracks and also has lots of catchy and fun songs. 1.Glory Days-Is very modern and is probably the girls most mainstream album. The only bad song on the album is ‘Beep beep’ and the album is very very cohesive it flows well and has a perfect mix of good lyrics and good production and overall is there most successful album. I know some people may disagree but this is my option and I mainly talked about the way the album flows together more than other things and a lot of you will be angry I put Salute in third but I think my list shows how much the girls have improved as-well as how they have finally found there style.
I generally agree with everything you said including the album order. I disagree with your production points since it's basically you not liking "over production" which is hardly how I describe most of their songs. And you seem to let production be the biggest deciding factor on "best" and "worst" songs. The only umbridge I take with this then is Always be Together and Good Enough where I believe lyrically they did not deserve "worst" no matter how overproduced. Especially Always be together which I swear is the song they'll sing if one of them ever dies or they split (god forbid). But despite the whole paragraph I've just left the biggest motivation for my comment is to tell you to slow the damn text down. You've been asked on multiple videos and replied multiple times saying you will and you never do. I know that was a bit rude and I'm sorry but it's exhausting and makes watching a chore.
It's all good, I get it. First off, I do pay extra attention to production because it's such a vital part of the musicality of songs (and actually gets rated double if you review professionally) but I don't let it be my biggest deciding factor. I do understand where you're coming from however, so let me explain. "Good Enough" is not a bad song, at all. "Salute" doesn't have a bad song. But the production is horrendous, and no other track fails like "Good Enough", in any category. That's why I put it to "worst songs", because its problems are extremely pronounced and/or evident. About the text- you gotta give me some credit. This video is from January and I have improved! I try my best and I put the transition time for my next video three times slower, so next time you're hopefully gonna have to skip. I apologise, though. Have an amazing day xx
I agree. Salute is probably first. I don't mind the obnoxious drum beat of Nothing Feels Like You, but I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites. I like that they tried around with a couple things yet kept it safe. I think we need another These Four Walls. It's one of- if not, the- rawest song on the album. It has lyrics that hit you with reality so bad and is only slightly repetitive on the chorus, with not much autotune. That's why I despise Secret Love Song, both parts. It's _very_ autotuned, repetitive, and for the one with Jason Derulo, he simply adds nothing to the song. His voice didn't fit well with the girls at all, let alone one that's supposed to be heartfelt. While I oddly transitioned from Salute to Get Weird, I also want to point out my hatred for Hair. It's shallow, compressed, and feels kind of self-objectifying. It's wayyyy too bubblegum pop for my taste, which is why I stick to the Salute album in the first place. Glory Days is my 2nd favorite. You said during Get Weird's rating that it's clear Perrie's voice started to deteriorate, and I feel it's becoming worse. You also said that during Power (lit song, not comparable to Salute in any way) the first verse shows how powerful her voice is, but I don't like it. First, the growl- *Perrie almost never growls, but Leigh does, which can't make me stop thinking about what is would be like if Perrie and Leigh swapped solos completely*- then her voice sounds raspy, which just doesn't seem like Perrie. Although, I do know that's my personal taste. I try to avoid Freak because I don't prefer Jade's raspy solos. The one thing I admire Glory Days is how much Jesy and Leigh shine. Leigh's high note in Your Love makes me shook, and Jesy's emotional delivery during Nobody Like you is evidently a strong suit.
jess does things How is Hair self-objectifying? After listening to the song I think it kinda has an empowering message going for it. I respect your opinion but I just want to know.
I disagree about the lyrics to Power. I think they actually insinuate that the word “man” doesn’t always mean power or strong and that a woman can be those things as well. It flips the gender roles on their head. I think Stormzy’s verse in the remix further emphasizes that.
I will never understand why Nothing Else Matters is so loved. It's one of the few LM songs that is just NOT my cup of cha (like I will actively skip it if it comes on). I can understand the dislike for You Gotta Not (I don't like it either, and I hope they never get Meghan Trainor to write for them ever again), but somehow I find even that song to be more listenable than NEM. I think Glory Days would have been a stronger album overall if they had taken out Oops, NEM and YGN and replaced them with the 3 tracks from the Platinum Edition (Is Your Love Enough?, Dear Lover and If I Get My Way), which are all lyrically and vocally superior. (Just my opinion - don't hate me.) Also, Stand Down and Good Enough are both amazing songs, imo... for me, the weakest songs on Salute are Mr Loverboy and See Me Now (I like the latter, but the chorus doesn't really draw you in because you don't really know which harmony to focus on as the "main" tune of it, and the repetition of the "ohhh" part gets slightly annoying to me). I also don't really rate I Love You and Love Me Or Leave Me on Get Weird as much as you have - both are solid songs and are delivered with sincere emotion by the girls, but I don't consider them to be standout tracks. I would consider the top songs of GW to be Black Magic, SLS Pt. II, Grown, The End and Clued Up.
Well that's the perk of individuality! I like Madhouse, too. This in no way represents my opinion, it's a subjective review based on musical elements xx
And eventually someone agrees that Glory Days is actually a good album and probably their best. I have seen a lot of hate for GB, but I never really get the reason. And finally there is a good production!
That's so true. People always think mainstream pop is a bad word. Sure, it's not an album that differs from others, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. Thank you for sharing your opinion Abaigeal xx
personally i dont agree at all ! you choosed the beat songs and say that they are the worst how can be not touched by good enough , secret love song ! hair was a hit song ! i dont get your comments on them cause they were great and yet they were the most songs that successed in the album and the fans all mixers love em
It's a review, meaning it's an opinion. Obviously you'll have different favourites, man. I understand where you're coming from, though. I do like "Good Enough", just not the weird reverb and the extreme compression. No song on "Salute" was really bad at all, but there had to be one worse than others. "Hair" might have been a hit song, and it's a catchy song, admittedly. But it also has poor instrumentation and poor lyrics, in my opinion. Anyway, I'm glad you love them, but that doesn't mean I have to. Hope you understand xx
it's Sinead I just think it's boring, and I'm also bitter that a song that was so obviously written with an LGBT+ experience in mind was turned into a cheating narrative.
I like SLS, but only part 2. I totally agree about Jason derulo. His voice is so autotuned and just makes the song quite jumpy while the girls sing so effortlessly, which is why they could of done without the autotune too. I think they should have just had the LGBT message in the song instead of a man and a woman who can't be together
I respect your decision but I disagree with your rankings of worst songs
This is a great video but madhouse is a tune and so is stand down
(I like them too)
"These Four Walls" hit me HARD when i first heard it. Salute was truly amazing
Secret love song? The worst song? Okay Jan
@@mjsjeed184 I do not think like that is just my opinion but you could have taken sls part 2 that is way better because of the girls
@@mjsjeed184 I honestly liked the jd version before i heard part 2
I then started realizing that Jason auto tuned voice was a real turn off after I started hearing some of their more raw strong vocals
Mjsjeed Thank you for doing this 😄
Mjsjeed are you kidding me always be together is the best I dislike red planet the most is a little weird
Mjsjeed
I’d rank DNA 7/10
Salute 9/10
Get Weird 8/10
Glory Days 9.5 / 10
salute was by far their best album before glory days came out, i kinda disagree that madhouse is one of the worst songs, the catchy chorus is the only thing that makes it awesome, i like the girls’ solos on madhouse but i just- meh i agree that jason derulo DOES NOT fit in secret love song, sam smith would actually be better for secret love song. salute has catchy and memorizable songs like move, nothing feels like you, salute, etc. these four walls is actually like a polished version of pretend it’s okay but it’s legendary. then we have glory days, in my opinion is by far their best album, i agree that beep beep and you gotta not are the worst, beep beep’s uncatchy vibe is what makes it ew, and you gotta not? Sounds alot like meghan trainor wrote it, because she did co write it, and power, no shade but it’s not a poor follow up of salute, power’s vibe and beats are better than salute’s and no shade tho.
pls do One Direction album rankings and review.
Salute is my number one! I dont Think there are any bad Songs on there!
True! There really aren't.
Love how objective and professional your videos/reviews have always been. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber :) Keep up with the good work. Can't wait to see what you will do next ♡
That's so sweet! Thank you. I'll try my best xx
Good Enough is worst song on Salute....No just no....That is my fav....The production might not be extraordinary but not to the point that it is worst....The Salute album is overall the best....Your comments are pretty accurate but the choice of best and worst song is just unacceptable
Its confusing as welll because at 7:38 they list all the reasons why 'Good Enough' is great ... ?
I always loving hearing your opinions as well- and this is mine. "Good Enough" might be pretty strong lyrically, but if I were to listen to the studio version of that song, it wouldn't get to me at all. The production isn't only "not extraordinary", it's awful. And I stand by that- the reason I put it with worst songs is because there were no actually bad songs on "Salute", and the production on "Good Enough" put me off most. All it means is worst songs on the album- "Good Enough" is still a good song (more so live).
Mjsjeed I think you should mention Good Enough's live version.
Mjsjeed I aint loving the production as well but that is not to be called awful...Mr Loverboy's production is much worse...But ya vocally and lyrically, the song is definitely the best...Only one bad point wont make it the worst... I would say Stand Down is the only not as good song in Salute
Annathai Nguyen I stan Stand Down. It is a perfection, wtf?
I can not believe in this video, if you have put Secret Love Song as one of the worst songs
Cringy lyrics and lacked vocals)
3. Get Weird ( Was an in and out album for ME, crazy amazing ballads and vocals yet too cheesy and pop (Hair. OMG) and wasn’t consistent enough. Not memorable to me but still selling)
2. Glory Days (Great sound for the era, vocal growth evident, needed a theme for its sound from Touch to Beep Beep confused me. Very modern and successful era)
Least favorite DNA songs: Turn Your Face, Make You Believe
Favorite Salute songs: Towers, Salute, Stand Down, Move
Least favorite Salute songs: Mr. Loverboy, Competition
Favorite Get Weird songs: Black Magic, Hair, Secret Love Songs, Lightning, OMG (fight me).
Least favorite Get Weird Songs: Weird People, I Won't
Favorite Glory Days songs: You Gotta Not (battle me), Beep Beep, (battle me), Shout Out to My Ex, F.U., Power, Touch, Down & Dirty, Dear Lover
Least favorite Glory Days songs: No More Sad Songs, Freak.
Is it okay if I ask how you felt about The Beginning? Also how did you feel about the three new songs on the platinum edition?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS. I've been looking for this for a long time and the production is great as always!! Thanks!!
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you liked it xx
Best songs on Get Weird: all of them (lol loved this video like always!)
Wow, i loved this video! I agree on most of it, even that secret love song ( with Jason) was not a good song because the meaning is actually gone, however pt 2 is amazing... Can you do this for fifth harmony also? Thanks!❤️
Thank you so much! I agree that part 2 has its charm. I will definitely do this for Fifth Harmony too xx
Mjsjeed yaayy!
Why did you rate get weird before salute?
Because I rated them from worst to best xx
Mjsjeed now i watched your Video till the end and I'm surprised how different our music Taste is 😁 i love you gotta not and stand down but you seem to hate both 😁
Nice video, only thing was that when you rated "best and worst" songs i would like to know why :)
Heh, I was just thinking about that. I apologise, I'll keep it in mind!
Salute is by far my favorite album, there’s not one song on there that I don’t LOVE.
I've been curious about your opinions on LM5
Can you give us your thoughts on LM5? It's my favorite album from them.
The "DNA" is one of the few albums where I literally love EVERY SINGLE SONG!!!! This only happens with my favourite kpop groups aka EXO and Red Velvet!
I'm glad you enjoy it so much!
I see you everywhere on rv and bts videos so hii
Madhouse is a fucking banger
Would love to know what you think of lm5
(I mainly just love more than words can say)
GOOD ENOUGH WORST SONG? I will fight you
:) I've explained it quite a few times now.
could you do a rank/review on LM's tours?
Sure! Great suggestion. Do you mind me mentioning your name at the start/end of the video to give you credit for the idea? xx
Mjsjeed No problem. I love your videos ❤❤
This is a great video babe good job I love you😘😘
Thank you so much! Love you too xx
Mjsjeed i have done a video please see it
Hello! This was accurate at best. I enjoyed it :D
Hey Sabrina! Thank you so much, as always. I'm glad you enjoyed xx
may i ask what do you mean by "compression"?
Compression is a term that is widely used in music. In music production, it's dynamics/volume control. It's used pretty much always, especially in pop music, but it's very easy to overuse. I hope that cleared things up xx
Mjsjeed ohh ok tysm xx
The best song from gd is freak,bc their vocals are lit😍
!!!!!!! 1000
You definitely deserve it😘😘😘😘😘😊😀😘❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much xx
When us the Fifth Harmony one coming out?
I know you people hate this word, but it is coming soon. I'll try my best to get it done this or next week xx
i strongly dislike SLS bc of the feature, but you have to at least show the slightest love for SLS pt. 2 (despite the autotune but still)
Can you do FH version
So do you like the version of SLS where Jason Derulo is not THERE and the lyrics are MUCH BETTER?
XD
Thanks for another great video!
Thank you for your support xx
1. Confetti
2. LM5
3. Glory Days
4. Get Weird
5. Salute
6. DNA
They get better with each album!
My faves on each album
DNA: Turn Your Face, DNA, Wings, Going Nowhere
Salute: Good Enough, Move, Salute, See Me Now
Get Weird: Lightning, I Love You, ADIDAS, Weird People
Glory Days: Freak, Power, FU, Private Show
When the hell is your next vocal analysis coming???
I know, it's been a while. You have to understand that they're a lot of work, especially if we're talking five members like in One Direction. I'm guessing it'll be another week or two, sorry xx
Glory days is the best album period and my favorite songs on there would be
1. Power
2. F.U
3. SOTME
4. You gotta not
5. Beep beep
Hahaha
So what do you think?
PLEASE DO ONE FOR 1D ALBUMS
With Glory Days, Do you mean the Platinum?
No, the standard edition xx
Okeyy X
Nothing Else Matters
Oh well now Metallica's one is stuck in my head.. Can't decide which one is better, Metallica or Little Mix. I'd say one of the best from each respective genre.
Both great songs!!
Nice job, it's always nice to see constructive criticism. The text are too fast though lol
I'm sorry! Thank you though, I appreciate it xx
Thank you again for your constructive criticism, I appreciate it xx
Is Your Love Enough?: The lyrics were honestly fine- until the bridge. After the bridge ("I, I want, want to know, know [...]) the chorus and post-chorus are repeated. your worsts are extremely questionable.
audrey is gay. It’s not that I don’t like any. Because I like every song they have made. And I wouldn’t skip any but the ones I put as my worst I’ve either over played and get boring , are too repetitive or I don’t think their voice suits as much as their other songs
Jordan Brown ahh, okay. your opinion is interesting. 😂
Could you this for Ariana grande sweetener?
Secret love song, madhouse and stand down are my fave on each album...
why everytime i see an album review the first thing anybody mentions that the album gives you 90s vibes although it's not!
Maybe because it does!
The thing you said about Jason Derulo on Secret Love Song is 100% true, that's partly why I prefer Secret Love Song Pt. 2
Secret Love Song, OMG, and Hair REALLY
CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST WATCHED THIS VIDEO BUT WHEN I DID I WAS LIKE 'ICONIC' LOL I MUST'VE!
There were some weak songs you chose which I 100% agree (You Gotta Not, SLS (Tho only part 1), Beep Beep and OMG), and 100% agree with all Get Weirds Bests, as well as the ordering of the Albums, so I'm pretty much on the same wave length there, so great job lol 😂
Thank you, Hope you have a good day too 😄
i think people are forgetting that this is from a subjective point of view
I love how you stay unbias in all your vids ❤
Thanks, I appreciate it xx
Mjsjeed no problem, it's the truth
Always be together is one of my faves😂😂
And sls too😂
How do you know so much about music, production and vocals in general? I was wondering because you seem to know a lot
Might be because I major in music :)
i kinda like the they didn't showcase their vocal range as much in salute, i don't think it would have set well with the production/types of song they went for, but there were definitely a few songs they could have done more vocally. they still hit some impressive notes compared to their previous album, they just weren't as apparent as in glory days or get werid. some examples are jesy A5 (head voice) in the background, leigh's harmonised F5 belt in a different beat, and jade's harmonised G#5 belts in the background of towers. i definitely think this should hace been the album for them to explore with lower notes though. overall, i think it's a solid pop/r&b album, especially by pop girlgroup in 2013... i really enjoyed this album and thought it was very well put together, it's my favourite of their along glory days. i hope their next album is more r&b-ish with maybe some hip hop sounds :)
Yes, I completely agree. Especially with the hopes for a RnB album! I really think they can pull it off.
THIS VIDEO IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
You're so sweet! Thank you for your positive feedback xx
I mostly agree with you. I really love SLS and Good Enough too. You Gotta Not is probably the song I hate the most. Competition deserved to be a single. That song is a bop.
YES
Why bother having so many members if you’re not going to utilise them all? xx
Great video but the text is very quick had to keep pausing it 😅
Please review dangerous woman or any Lana Del Rey album. I’d love to hear your opinion!
QUEENS!
Its also not as good as other album in terms of production and lyrics as they are very immature compared to other albums
3. Salute-I also really enjoy this album and it is very cohesive although I think songs like ‘Move’ and ‘Stand Down’ don’t fit the darker theme of the Album. The production is very late 90s early 2000s and I believe this is why it is there Least successful album in terms of sales because it wasn’t modern enough but the lyric were very meaningful and had lots of substance and it is definitely there deepest album
2.Get Weird- This is the only album that I will never skip a track on it is a quintessential pop album and is so fun and colourful.
ALL OFF THE ALBUMS ARE AMAZING,THERE ARE NO BAD SONGS,JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!
I really don’t understand the worst song choices but i guess everyone has different tastes🤷🏾♂️Except for glory days
I respect your opinions of the the album's and songs but always be together is better than going nowhere
Basically most of the songs under worst songs are my faves
I have to loudly disagree on Secret love song because it's my baby and personally it's so so emotional and I think thats what they want us to feel
the same with good enough
The text is way to fast but I love all their albums ❤️
Secret love song is one of my ultimate faves 💗💗💗
for Glory days, my favorite songs are:
no more sad songs
touch
your love
power
nobody like you
I agree with the worst songs tho
I disagree about the lyrics to Power. I think they actually insinuate that the word “man” doesn’t always mean power or strong and that a woman can be those things as well. It flips the gender roles on their head. I think Stormzy’s verse in the remix further emphasizes that.
excuse me... madhouse is never the worst song on dna!!
I think the worst song in saulute is Boy,AMZAING Video
Good Enough is amazing what on Earth
Your mind...powerful
(Just my opinion - don't hate me.)
Also, Stand Down and Good Enough are both amazing songs, imo... for me, the weakest songs on Salute are Mr Loverboy and See Me Now (I like the latter, but the chorus doesn't really draw you in because you don't really know which harmony to focus on as the "main" tune of it, and the repetition of the "ohhh" part gets slightly annoying to me).
II, Grown, The End and Clued Up.
um excuse me madhouse, good enough, stand down and omg are great songs good video though
Secret Love song and good enough are their best songs, but i agree with the others 💖👏
i love madhouse. this is video is good i just don’t agree with what you said the worst songs were.
Well that's the perk of individuality! I like Madhouse, too. This in no way represents my opinion, it's a subjective review based on musical elements xx
I respect your opinion but good enough is one of the best on salute not the worst
I love Good Enough, lmao
Edit: and I don't like Move that much
personally i dont agree at all ! you choosed the beat songs and say that they are the worst how can be not touched by good enough , secret love song ! hair was a hit song ! i dont get your comments on them cause they were great and yet they were the most songs that successed in the album and the fans all mixers love em
Hope you understand xx
always be toghuter is so good
I'm glad someone else dislikes SLS
Right? I'm glad I'm not the only one.
How can you dislike it
it's Sinead I just think it's boring, and I'm also bitter that a song that was so obviously written with an LGBT+ experience in mind was turned into a cheating narrative.
erin h same. Jason completely ruined the song + he stole a lot of Leigh's lines and it's just too much autotune. Part II is much more better
I think the best song on GW Is Lightning
You gotta not and beep beep is better than nothing else matters. Not saying I dont like nothing else matter is just that it isn't better
Excuse meee hair secret love song and omg are great songs
