new TOP TIER control pad | Odin Eclipse mousepad review + comparisons

- The Eclipse is a pad that took me by surprise and found its way into my top recommendation for those looking for a slow but versatile surface.
In this video, I compare the Eclipse to the Artisan Zero and Gamesense Radar. Another comparison that I think is pretty valid for this pad is also to the Zowie G-SR. The resistance you feel on small motions is pretty similar on the Eclipse as to a cool and dry G-SR. Dynamic motions on the Eclipse are a little smoother and noticeably faster as well, but the two pads do feel fairly similar overall. The biggest difference is that the Eclipse seems to be affected by outside conditions much less and has a more consistent surface feel. If consistency is something that bothers you about the G-SR and you don't like how it gets so muddy in certain conditions, then the Eclipse will be a good option, albeit a little faster one.

It's quite unbelievable how everyone complains of how boring is to review a mousepad and videos have to be short while my man stands here talking non-stop for 15 minutes like he's reading a book about a piece of cloth without making you die of boredom and keeps you very entertained. I really hope you keep that quality even once you hit 100K and then a 1M. You may not realize it , but you do something very very rare and special there , brother!

First and foremost I would just say I've just recently found you (1-2 weeks ago) and I must say you are amazing at reviewing! Great details and great comparisons! So keep up the good work!
The second thing is, do you think maybe using Tiger Ice over the Corepads on the Eclipse could be a better idea since people are saying they are "little" faster than Corepads?
Both feel good to me on this pad. Ice will be a little faster and make the pad slightly less sluggish feeling but the difference between the two isn't that large on this surface.
If you like the surface feel of this pad you have to try the Puretrak Talent / SE pads(same surface). If the eclipse is like wearing something warm the puretrak feels like the fabric that is cool to the touch that you would want to sleep on. Glide feels the same (smooth) but the puretrak has way less static friction.
That sounds really interesting. My only real issue with the Eclipse was that it felt a little too slow on small movements so a pad that feels similar but could fix that aspect seems fantastic. I'll be sure to put it on my shortlist of pads to try next. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just switched from ac+ rob to odin eclipse, and I gotta say it’s definitely worth it. I have shaky aim and I seem to be more consistent with the eclipse surface.
How do they compare in terms of speed and control? I’m thinking of buying the eclipse but afraid that it might be too slow
@@kristusvinci its really slow, down thre with g-sr and equate. slightly faster than both, but similar static friction. Seems to be easier to micro adjustments on the eclipse for some reason

Currently have a Gamesense Radar v2 and wanted to see if the Eclipse was more controlled/slower, or are they very similar? Does the Eclipse have any X/Y-axis difference? Which one's stitching is lower? Looking for something with slightly more stopping power than Radar v2.
The Eclipse is a little bit more controlled feeling. Dynamic friction is a little bit higher and it'll feel slower with a touch more stopping power. The comparison I did in this video touched on that briefly so you can go back for some more information. I didn't notice anything like that slight xy difference the radar has. As far as stitching goes, I have the radar v1 so I can't compare those directly. The Eclipse's stitching is pretty solid though, and is only slightly raised. If you want a radar that feels a little bit more controlled, the Eclipse could be a really good option and a natural transition.
@@KraftyCraftKraf Great. Thank you for the reply. In your comparison, you did say that the Eclipse seems to have less static friction (easier to microadjust / less "muddy" feel), correct? If so, it is very interesting how it has more stopping power while having lower static friction as well.
Yeah, that's right. It's because the Eclipse has more dynamic friction but similar static friction to the Radar. The difference between the two friction types is much closer on the Eclipse so the transition feels smoother. The Radar ends up feeling like it has more static friction because it's higher in comparison to its dynamic friction so it seems more pronounced to me.
Do you have an Xraypad Aqua Control+? If you do have it, how does it compare with the Odin Eclipse. I play on 400 dpi, 0.42 sens in csgo 0.14 in val. But im rly into control pads. Thanks
I currently use a QCK heavy and it's on the edge of something I can control. Anything faster i wouldn't want. What i'm looking for a is a slightly more controlled QCK which has a surface where your skin is easy to move on. QCK feels like sandpaper and my sweater just sticks on it. I look for something like Equate static friction but little bit less dynamic so the mouse actually slides a little bit on the dynamic part. Would this be the one I should go for?
No, the Eclipse is faster than the equate all around, especially with small movements due to its noticeably lower static friction and lack of that sticky feeling, so it'll probably feel uncontrollable fast at first. I still think it's a great pad and it could be a good option if you are ever looking to transition away from mud pads and experiment with something less sticky but still with the high friction you are used to.
The GPZ1 sounds almost exactly like what you want. It has super high static friction which gives it that locked in, glued to the pad feel of the slowest and most controlled surfaces out there, but it's so smooth and soft that you still get a glidy feeling on large movements despite the obscene amount of friction. The surface seems like it might get sticky when it gets hotter out and sweat starts to build up on your arm, but I'm not able to test for things like that this time of year and can only really guess. Although, it definitely doesn't have that sandpaper feel and the surface is soft and very comfortable on your arm, so I don't think that part will be an issue. I just anticipate a little bit of stickiness on bare skin in summertime conditions.

Would you think the Eclipse is same speed as QCK? I heard also about the inkd gamingpad which is a smoother and tiny bit faster then QCK.

No I haven't. I completely forgot it existed, actually. It does sound interesting but I remember it having shipping/ availability issues that kept me from trying it out. Have they fixed that or does it still have weird from Europe only shipping?
@@KraftyCraftKraf It's true their shipping options are the only things holding them back, they ship from HK I believe. It's $10 for 10-14 day shipping and $25 for fast shipping and the pad itself is $30. To me it feels like an improved zero made from cordura that somehow feels like cloth still.
hmm that sounds pretty interesting. The pad first came on my radar because I don't like how codura feels so a surface that can bring that same consistency without the plastic feel sounded great. I might have to give it a shot, especially if they ever offer US shipping.

How do you like the outset compared to the np-01? Which is easier to grip without the wrist touching the surface for 18/10 hands?
I like the outset and np-01 pretty equally. I aim a little differently and am more relaxed when using ergos, so if I want that style I'll choose the outset, but if I want something that feels like the symmetrical mice I usually use I'll pick the np-01. If you don't want your wrist to touch the pad in your grip I would recommend the np-01. The outset is very tall so you can choke up on it and get your wrist well off the pad, but the back slopes off quickly and feels chopped off so your hand will likely end up falling off the back and resting on the pad. The np-01 is longer in comparison and gives you more room to rest your hand on top of it to avoid wrist contact.

I have an mp510 that I main and I’ve used a glorious XL as well I’m looking to try something with a bit more control. I don’t care about comfort just looking for performance. I have been looking at reviews and it seems the tiger eba, xtrfy gp4 and game sense radar are the top recommended. (Besides the. Zero of course). I am a bit conflicted since the radar is said to be most like the glorious from Fresh reviews and it sounds like the eba is a bit quick with stopping power which sounds like the mp510. Do you have any input?
I use a low sens btw if that helps 61cm/360 so sometimes I hit the edge of the glorious
The radar is super solid. If you like the typical cloth pad feel, the radar is a good take on that type of surface that feels pretty balanced. A more textured surface like the eba will feel more controlled because of its texture giving some extra stopping power, but it won't have that locked-in feeling of a slower pad like the radar. It depends on what you want type of control you want. Do you want to feel secure in your movements, or only want a more sure stop? The pad I reviewed in this video, the eclipse, is good too, it will just feel pretty slow compared to what you're used to.
Appreciate it, that makes sense the way you put it. I’m really tempted to try the outset and xm1r. I tend to prefer smaller narrow mice but I’ve been trying some claw on my gpx and it could work. Appreciate the detailed effort you put into your reviews. Good stuff
Can you compare this to the gigantus v2? Considering if it is worth it to upgrade as a valorant player
I haven't tried the gigantus myself, but I've heard that its quite similar to the gamesense radar, just a little smoother, so most of what I said in the radar comparison should apply to the gigantus as well. It could be worth the upgrade if you want a more controlled surface and value a smooth glide with a premium arm feel.

I saw that they are making a radar v3 and it looks pretty cool. May have to give it a shot.
How Is it compared to the equate? I’m really liking the equate rn over the artisan zero but it gets destroyed by humidity
I like the Equate too. It feels so locked in and I like the texture. Its a shame that the material xraypad uses does not agree with moisture. The Eclipse feels smoother and much less textured in its glide. It still has a good amount of friction but the smoothness makes it feel quicker than the Equate. Small movements on the Eclipse feel less sticky which makes the pad feel less sluggish than the Equate overall. It's hard to say how much humidity affects the Eclipse because of the cool and dry fall weather that I have had where I live for the past few weeks, but it seems to be affected by sweat less than the Equate so I think it is more weather resistant.
If you want something that is smoother, less sluggish, slightly faster, and likely more weather resistant, then I think the Eclipse is a good option.

Exactly. Just be aware that the Eclipse feels much more smoothed out and doesn't have that slight texture the Equate has so the glide will feel different. That's the biggest difference between those two pads.

The Equate feels like it has more stopping power due to its higher dynamic friction and slight texture helping you come to a very fast and very stable stop. The Eclipse is no slouch either, though, and you'll still feel that it has a lot of stopping power, but what really sets it apart is that it has less static friction and doesn't have that sluggish, muddy feeling of the Equate. Small movements are much easier to make and it feels like the pad allows you to breath when you're microcorrecting far more than the Equate.
@@KraftyCraftKraf Just got mine. it sort of feels like a g-sr in static friction but much less. It def has more static friction than my zero,giganntus v2, and qck+ though. It's really smooth. feels like a slightly faster g-sr to me. but still on the control side. Not a bad buy at all, but it's a lot slower than a zero. I'd say qck+ speed, with slightly higher static friction. It definitely feels like a control pad though.
Is this far slower than xten control? Worth trying? I'm legit in love with xten and don't know if I'd ever switch unless some magic mousepad comes out
I feel the same about the xten. Its actually perfect for me. The Eclipse's dynamic glide speed is actually not that much slower than the xten. There is a little bit more friction and a much smoother, less textured glide. What makes the Eclipse feel the next step slower than the xten is that it has a good bit more resistance on small movements. I think the Eclipse is worth a shot because it provides a very different feel than the xten and provides a good value. It probably won't replace the xten, that pad is better quality and feels higher performance, but I think it is a really good take on a slower pad if you want to try something different.

The PA won't feel that much slower than the xten on large motions but will feel a lot more locked in due to the static friction being higher and having more resistance on small motions. It feels like it has more stopping power than it should for a smooth glide that doesn't feel that slow, too. I haven't used the pad much because I got it recently and it's been sidelined by other pads I'm reviewing, but I've liked what I've experienced so far. You will miss the texture that you get on the xten, but I think it would be a good option if you want something that feels a little more locked in.
The Eclipse in comparison would be another small step down in overall speed from the PA, about the same difference as the xten to the PA. It will feel even more locked in than the PA and have more resistance on all movements but it doesn't get to the point of feeling sticky. The Eclipse also has a better arm feel and is super smooth and soft, even more so than the already smooth PA.
If you want something with a similar speed but that feels more locked in, try the PA.
If you want something that is slower but still avoids all stickiness, try the Eclipse.

Haven't tried it yet. I don't really care about wireless that much so the mouse doesn't interest me. Still looks like a cool budget gpx option, though. Maybe I'll give it a shot in the future.
@@KraftyCraftKraf its more like a budget starlight 12 for me because of the shape, not identical but the shape is much closer to the starlight than the gtx
Yeah that's true. I just don't really consider anything a budget starlight when you can't even buy the mouse retail. Its not even part of the mouse market imo. The shape looks somewhat interesting but I have seen some reports of bad firmware and sensor stuttering so I'm a little cautious.
does the eclipse ever feel muddy?
Not really. It certainly feels slow and has a lot of resistance on all motions, but it avoids much of that sticky feeling you usually get from mudpads. The pad doesn't add that delay to your movements and prevent you from getting your mouse going from a standstill. This is what makes it the special I feel. It has all the friction and that slow, controlled feel of a mudpad but it drops all of the stickiness to make for a more pleasant experience.
@@KraftyCraftKraf Sounds quite interesting. That's what i liked about Sense Core from Roccat. While it feels almost indistinguishable from Gigantus V2 , it has very slight difference where it doesn't feel muddy unlike the Gigantus. You have to dig down deeply to find the difference between the two , yet that small difference is a make or break for me. I can't/don't like to use the Gigantus , but can main the Core over Raiden and MPC/Sense Pro/Ice/Endorphy/Skypad which makes no sense over such a negligible little difference.
