    As a neutral observer I find Manchester United to be one of the least confusing teams around because they seem to have 1 of 2 types of season every season. They even start every season pretty much identically, they have a big spending summer, their fans get excited about the season ahead, they start terribly and almost immediately fall out of title contention. Then the season goes one of two ways, they either recovery and end the season quite strong, top 4 and build excitement for the next season even higher or they continue to muddle along and end up 6th or 7th, usually resulting in a managerial change which gets the cycle going again for the next season.

    5 permanent managers in 10 years post-Fergie. It's not confusing when you realise the underlying problem is the club structure and the culture of mediocrity it encourages.

      And how many managers has Chelsea, Barcelona, Madrid and so had over the last few years where they've been successful?
      Man United never backed the manager under Van Gaal or Mourinho, and the terrible players like Rashford, Shaw or Pogba won.
      Then to appease the players our useless board appoints two absolute clowns in Ole and ten Hag.
      The worst part? They backed ten Hag with his signings and departures (Ronaldo) but not Mourinho or Van Gaal.
      Signings which by the way include:
      -Not one, but 2 strikers who have 0 PL goals combined in two seasons
      -92 year old Johnny Evans
      -Fidget spinner
      -5'4 injury prone CB
      And the cherry on top is that awful idiots like Martial, Rashford, Shaw, Bruno are still at this club after countless embarassments and failures but our puppet manager is hell bent on keeping them at the club.
      So the issue isn't the revolving door of manager, rather the fact they backed the wrong one and keep persisting with awful, terrible players

    • @zosiazaremba7479
      @zosiazaremba7479 5 місяців тому +4

      @@Delta24X Stability at the club is important. Ole isn't a top manager, not even close, but he inherited a squad of players brought in by three different managers, among other problems at the club. Chelsea for example remained fairly successful for a long period of time despite their constant managerial roulette, but did so for a cost of a complete rebuild every two or three years. They would have probably been even more successful with much less money spent if they just stuck with one manager for a longer period of time and allowed him to build something other than a team for a short term success

    Great analysis. You did justice to it.
    From latest adjustments in various clubs (Barcelona, Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham etc) some things are somehow constant:
    1) You don't necessarily need to change a manager (Madrid, Arsenal, Liverpool)
    2) You need a certain level of purge (Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea) Chelsea failed here because the purging was ridiculously too much in a short duration!
    3) Change of Captain. A dude who can change on and off field events (Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United) Man United has a captain who complains to referees too much and get involved in football antics that are not good examples to other players.
    4) Discipline (Arsenal, Man city, etc). Ten Hag might need to raise the discipline level for the players. It shows in their play and interviews.
    5) Release unhappy players/players who don't want to stay (Real Madrid's Benzeama, Chelsea's Kante, Mendy, Arsenal's Lacazette, Granit Xhaka, Mancity's Cole Palmer, Jesus, Zinchenko, Cancelo, Liverpool's Minimano, Firmino)
    I've already explained why Chelsea is failing: Sudden overhaul of virtually all players and manager!

Ten Hag is stubborn but let’s be honest a lot of managers are stubborn at times but they can afford it where as at United you can’t since that could cost him his job since there’s not a good enough set of players to back his mistakes up. Excellent break down Sir, youve earned a new subscriber. UTD makes me feel schizophrenic at times, i love them, i hate them, i want Ten hag to succeed but i want this crap football gone but we have seen this before over and over, have a good season, win a trophy and the board act like we are the finished product and dont back the manager. Fans focus on the 400 million spent but neglect the reality we lost over 400 million in players walking out the door for free, Our squad is so thin it’s been exposed this season just like previous seasons. We have players starting week in week out we wanted to sell in the summer because they dont fit Ten Hags way. We have consistently not got players managers wanted consistently brought in loans that are not good enough because lets be honest its not like clubs loan their best players, its usually players they dont see as part of their plans. With this miss mash of players from previous managers as far back as 10 years ago, different play styles and few who ever looked World class for more than a minute, i believe its an absolute miracle Ten Hag reached finals finished top 4 and has in a position to be in the top 4 race, this is where we are folks and we need to suck it up and get behind the team, im praying we dont sack ten hag because i cant face another manager with another rebuild and not getting his players, no money to spend, and just more miss mash football, off the pitch decisions by idiots have ruined this great club.

    Great watch as always 👊🏿. United will always remain one of the most fascinating case studies. Dont think ive ever seen a club in transition this long. Maybe not as disastrous as Arsenal banter era or AC Milan banter era but probably the one that has basically been stagnat the most. The issues that were there when Sir Alex left 10+ years ago are the exact same issues that still are there at that club today. But alas, one thing will always ring true, decision making upstairs impacts an entire club and until the structure is fixed theres gonna be this perpetual transition. As a Madrid fan im forever thankful that even in our down years we have things sorted upstairs so our down years never last long.

He played in an Inter team which was defense focused, they were very organised, Ohnana always had support from his defenders and the entire squad were a close group of players. Now he's in a team which has almost zero organisation on any part of the field, a completely dysfunctional squad and dealing with a much harder and faster paced league...
    This even answers his own question about going from best to worst in 6 months. He wasn't exposed at Inter, he is at United.
    The guy is not good enough for a top level club that doesn't have a strong defense that focuses on defensive styles of play. He'd be good under a Mourinho team for example, but awful for a Klopp or Guardiola team.

    Ten Hag is not it, I don't think he is the worst problem at the club but his lack of attacking tactical structure is why united rely on long balls, blame Ole for not making a system that worked with CR7 but he had a system where he had 5 players with a more than 15 goal contributions and rashford having 36 and bruno with 46, 13 being pens. He has good players we see that, he signed anthony and his refusal to drop him led to a fall out with sancho. He is a problem, but the the only one.

    I don’t understand how no one is questioning the Sancho situation since he’s been banished from the team. Surely Ten Hag has proven his point and if it really is just for not apologizing now the club is gonna have a 70 million player walk out for nothing. When even if they don’t get along as a manager you play Sancho if he plays well increases his value to sell, if he plays poorly it validates Ten Hag for dropping him in the first place. With the poor run of games and injuries that happened the fact that this wasn’t considered is a huge managerial blunder in my opinion. All for discipline and running the locker room but at this point it’s strange that it’s gone on so long over something so petulant

    Thank you for your video. I just want to say I support EtH. And question this - How is any manager supposed to be strong and authorative, whe he keeps getting undermined by the club? For many years we have seen managers wanting rid of players, and the club keeps them, creating a toxic atmosphere. This summer, EtH wanted to sell McTominay, Maguire, Martial and Sancho. All still here, and he has to play three of them.
    Until the club grow a pair, and actually start supporting the manager, I for one will not call "out". As you say, minimum three years needed. I agree with that. But the club has to start cleaning the house as well, for it to work.

    Man U used to intimidate me as an Arsenal fan. However, i honestly feel bad for them due to their management team. My Arsenal went through a lot of pain too but management made some good strides to be stable. I think filling Fergie's shoes seems to be a serious feat. Mourinho was the best option when they had him imo. If they had been patient and invested strategically, things might have turned out differently. I am not trashing them but how can you look at the money thrown frivolous ly at some of the signings and not have questions?

    We all know the Owners haven't been good for the club but they've given the fans money to previous managers, EtH has wasted over £150-200M already on signings, that cost at least 3-5 players short from where we should be so EtH has to take the blame for that but there's room for improvement with the addition of SJR by offloading Arnold & Murtough who has overstayed their welcome already is a sign to send us in right direction!
    EtH is talking Rubbish when it concerns the January's transfer window cos we want at least 5 players 2CD, 2CM & 10 and release 5 players e.g. Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Williams, Bruno, Mount, VDB, Antony, Greenwood & Sancho.

    I think you need to keep the faith in Ten Hag. The injuries to Lisandro Martinez and Eriksen have completed ruined your ability to build from the back and forced the manager to change the style of play from last season where you finished 3rd and won a trophy.
    The manager looks like he's finally managing to install some discipline in this side. He dropped Varane and Rashford, but has brought both back in from the cold, and Varane has played well, whereas Rashford was actually tracking back in his short cameo againt Liverpool, kept the shape and wasnt trying to play hero ball. The performance was the most tactically and mentally disciplined performance from United the whole season. Antony was dangerous on the counter and McTominay failed to connect with any of the crosses and Hojlund and Garnacho both fluffed their lines when chances to steal the game fell to them. I may be wrong, but it really looked like the squad is starting to turn the corner and Ten Hags discipline is winning them over. I guess we'll see this weekend.
    Also, Martinelli was the first man sent off for 2 yellows in the same phase of play, also by Michael Oliver against Wolves 😂 😅😅

    Love your take on the team I agree all of the points you made.
    It’s just sad for Hojlund that only player who feed the ball to him is Bruno,
    Garnacho shoots the ball mostly and currently not capable of dribbling past defenders to create.
    Antony great work rate but doesn’t create chances and passes the ball backwards
    Rashford can beat defense with his dribbles but chooses to shoot more than pass
    If Erikson plays, I believe Hojlund will score more, but Erikson is not defensively effective
    Back when we had a poacher like Van Nistelrooy he had Beckham, Giggs, Scholes to feed him the ball.
    I think that the current United team need to be disciplined to know when to pass the ball when to shoot

    We need to release the players Ten Hag doesn't need or doesn't want. However, looking at how the Glazers work, they are unwilling to do so because of how their contracts are amortised - it affects the accounts, which in turns affects FFP. We cannot buy our way back to success right now, we have seen how it has not worked for us. We need to be smart about who we buy and how we buy. The ownership needs to stop looking at marketable signings and start looking at market conscious signings.

    Its a sentiment ive been sharing with my friends who support Man U for years, ever since the day the Glazers took over Sir Alex was the bandaid that kept the club from crunbling in the later years. I respect and want Man U to be at their best cuz good competition breeds excitement in football but this club has systemic problems that no manager or player can fix. I support Chelsea, I know how bad we are and how bad our own systematic problems are, but I love the prem and i want the usual customers to be run and operated well and with passion for the sake of their fans, not billionaire owners who dont care about football

      In what way do you think the Glazers are destroying Man Utd? (not a troll question, I genuinely want to know). This is a narrative that seems to be going on the internet a lot, but no one seems to be able to give an objective answer.
      For me the problem is rooted in the players perceiving Man Utd as a getaway for a huge paycheck without having to live up to expectations (since the club hardly punishes those who are subpar, look at what lengths they were going to just to keep Pogba despite not proving his worth).

    • @MrViper5822
      @MrViper5822 5 місяців тому +1

      @JamesYusof Horrendously poor management, lack of accountability, and failure to invest in company infrastructure.
      Woodward was a joke for a decade, poor decision after poor decision but always allowed to carry on. Who was giving those contracts you mentioned out? Who was chasing the "Big name signing of aging superstar" every summer? Poor management.
      Linked to this is the accountability, players being kept on when underperforming year after year. Look back at the squad ETH inherited to get a good look at this. The problem became too big to deal with swiftly.
      In terms of infrastructure, OT was once the gold standard of grounds in the UK. Now it's in desperate need of repairs and work. Presentation is important. If where you work looks old, worn and left to rot it shouldnt be a shock to see the same from the players

    • @patrickbeukes1009
      @patrickbeukes1009 5 місяців тому +1

      @@JamesYusof The best way I can answer this from my perspective is lack of investment in key aspects of the club that need it and misappropriation of funds as well as lack of care and accountability for mistakes both on and off the pitch. This comes from the top with the owners down to the players. Man U as far as I know were debt free before the Glazers, after 2003/4 they have been trying to pay off debt created by their owners who use this club as a piggy bank. SAF because of his great skills as a manager could tape over the holes behind the scenes. I mean Old Trafford is basically falling apart and the glazers don't care. They throw money at meaningless things and players hoping to work. But look at Man City for example. A clear vision for what they want to achieve from top down (stadium, overall infrastructure, transfer policy and quality investment between the men's and women's side of their club)

    NBA teams understand they need to enter a rebuilding phase when things aren't working out. They might trade star players for lottery draft picks and generally understand they are in a re-structuring mode.
    I wish United fans just understand this. We are barely a mid-table team. The expectations of the fans in my opinion is hampering the teams development.
    It seems the board are beginning to realize this, Ragnick also made similar comments. The squad needs a re-shape. We should work on building academy players while buying quality players that would actually make a difference.
    I think Ten hag is a very solid coach, you have to admit that Ajax is a much different club to Man Utd and I might be wrong, but he's still relatively inexperienced as a coach. He seems to be think long term and that's what the club needs right now, long term planning.

      Partially agree with this. The football under Arteta during those first 2 seasons was simply horrendous. Don't care what revisionists try to say, that football was really bad and depressing. Even Ole football was more exciting to watch.
      But what makes me trust ETH longevity less is the fact that he's rendered the scouting dept impotent and has rather chosen to sign former players who are clearly not good enough for this level. He shouldn't have been given so much power in the first place but united will be united. This new committee might just save him because despite the early defeats in the season, I really did like the football we played in the first halves, against spurs and Brighton before we got turned over. I'm hoping if he can sort out the disgruntled players like Rashford and welcome back some injured players the team can put in more performances like that again, without the capitulation in the second half ofcourse.

    Weghorst was giving us wins by just being in the striker position, yet many still complain about his goal scoring. We had the players, but had our eyes in envy of Man City focusing on the players they had, instead of the ones who stuck with us.

    I know i may get some stick for this, but am I the only one that don't see any match philosophy to EtH's games? Hear me out, please. Each manager that have come through our revolving doors have had a distinct style of play that reflects their philosophies. Even LvG's "boring possession" football was our identity for some time. But it just feels like EtH has thrown out the playbook and is just "winging" it at the moment. I'll take rubbish results with a distinct identity any day over what we have at the moment. Don't get me wrong, i understand pragmatism and having to play with the players available, but EtH needs to start getting the team to play his own way, hetting people who fits his system in and out of the club.
    P.S
    Here's a thought: what if EtH ball isn't the "united way"? Cos we've all heard pundits, ex mangers and ex players saying we should be playing the "united way".

    • @dariel299
      @dariel299 5 місяців тому +2

      we need to set aside this 'united way' mentality or it would never change, every team changes their style of play based on their manager, and i disagree on the notion that eth didnt try to play the way he wanted, he tried , didnt work and eventually had to play survival football mode just like the rest of the managers bfr him to get points, what doesnt help was the amount of injuries we've been getting and the lack of form of players who arent injured, imo ETH overachieving last season has put too much pressure on him to grind out results and abandoning the style of play, if lets say we were out of european football and finish midtable last season, the spotlight would have been less, expectations lower and ETH is able to at least get his team playing to his tune more often while risking jeopardising the results along the way, cause playing a new style will not guarantee results, arteta finished 8th twice in first 2 seasons and no one expected much from them but he was able to play the way he wanted, anyhow we need to stick to the manager and give them at least 5 seasons to show their way or not the rebuild process just restarts every 3 seasons
