Apparently, Metallica members tried to redeem themselves after releasing commercial albums that were such a disappointment among their most loyal fans (Load; Reload, The Unforgiven etc); They tried to prove their fans they did not lose their Heavy Metal soul, so they released Death Magnetic which is such an underrated album that keeps Metallica's original sound; especially, the drums and the guitars.
That Was Just Your Life played live is basically James rappin' (sadly isn't played for a decade) The End Of The Line is one of my absolute favourites (glad to see somebody sharing the same opinion....not like Andriy who hates this song) Broken Beat & Scarred (the infamous song where the demo chorus is much better than the final version) All Nightmare Long belongs to the H.P. Lovecraft quadrology (along with The Call Of Ktulu, The Thing That Should Not Be and Dream No More)
Bro when this album came out I was so fucking stoked to see what they would do to combat st Anger. Once that first solo popped up I was like yep… they’re back lol then song after song they kept shredding more and more and I was like god damn! I was so fucking happy to see them back in thrash mode.
“That was just your life” was amazing live and they OPENED with it for most of the supporting tour for this album, which is typical for Metallica they usually open with the first song on the latest album.
My favourite thing about this was after the live premiere of Dyers Eve everyone was like, duh, Lars can't do sustained double bass any more. So he was like, bitches I'll do half of All Nightmare Long with faster double bass than that.
I'm not much of a heavy metal fan, but once I heard All Nightmare Long theme; I became interested to know more about Metallica. I think they're very original when mixing the drums"and the guitar's sounds. In doing so they keep the hearer in suspense, so he does not know what's coming next.
i LOLed when u said it felt like we're in a Helicopter XD spot the fuck on XD as u heard. this Album is badass; the riffs here are as crazy as they are many. cant wait for part 2 !
James actually often messed up the verse in That Was Just Your Life live, I don't blame him tho, playing that riff and pretty much rapping that verse at the same time is crazy hard.
You know a person is musically illiterate, when they hear 5 seconds of a song and compare it to something they think they know. That's what we call "A know nothing, know it all".
