*i just realized that my question didn’t make sense, i was asking can you really not learn to surf before swimming because i don’t know how to swim but i’m readying to learn to surf and when i googled it. it says you don’t need to be a good swimmer to surf*

@@BooksRebound oh you can catch me in the ocean and I don’t know how to swim 😂 (I live 10 mins by the beach I’m there often). I just not dumb enough to go far in where waves will drag me too far. Do I want to learn to swim of course but when I have time to take lessons, it doesn’t take a long period to learn anyways

You should make this like a series within your vlogs like a “Ryland tries...” and try something new like once a month. It’s a consistent way to keep content if you hit a creative slump/burnout but also it’s so cool and inspiring seeing you get out of your comfort zone and to see new things like surfing. You could do all kinds of first time trying various sports like kickboxing or paddle boarding and it doesn’t have to be just sports but any activity bringing someone professional or experienced in to teach you and educate us the audience on it love this style of vlog!

I love how adventurous Ryland is. When he decides he wants to try something he doesn’t hold back like so many of us do. It’s admirable. (Also I miss you Shane and I love hearing you behind camera)
I LOVE hearing Shane behind the camera too! They are the cutest. As soon as he put in the wet suit I was thinking - OMG I have to know what Shane thinks 😂

Same. I miss Shane so much and I wish people would just give him a chance to come back. We're ALL imperfect Humans and have made mistakes. Shane has just done so in front of millions of people. He has also proven himself to have grown past his mistakes from YEARS ago. So, it's really sad that he is feeling so uncomfortable with himself online, now... I just hope he knows that he still has millions of people who knows how wonderful his heart is and who still love him. 💕
Yeah Ryry riding the waves was awesome. He should have riden Skyler though. That would be hot. And lets face it a hotter ride than Shane.

I am glad that Shane has made UA-cam a blast, I have a feeling one day he'll come back. We just have to give him time

Surfing is something I never thought I’d want to try but seeing you learn in the more gentle water eased my fears a bit and kinda makes me wanna try. I’ve always been terrified of big waves after being taken under while body surfing when I was 12 (in Malibu actually) and almost drowned. But watching you catch those smaller waves looks like a blast! Thanks for vlogging this experience and I hope to see more videos like this as you get even better!

I loved this vlog!! I live in a beach town and have always been curious about trying surfing. I live much further north in California though where sharks are pretty damn common...so that's not great. But this was just so fun to watch from your perspective as a total beginner. I think I for sure would need to get stronger before even trying, but this really makes me want to take a surf lesson one day. Please vlog when you go out again! I would love to watch the rest of your surfing journey and follow your progress!

My daughter wanted to learn how to surf at the age of 9, (we live in Wisconsin) so I started taking her to surf camp every year in Florida. All your emotions were spot on, right down to the pure exhaustion after. 🌊🏄♂️
