Renting out your LA house when you're not using it sounds like an amazing idea! It also means you still have the option of visiting it whenever you want but it is not just sitting there empty deteriorating when not in use. I can tell Shane is getting bad vibes from LA because of all the toxicity that has occurred there and that Colorado feels like a fresh breath of air for the both of you. I also understand that Ryland may not be fully done with LA yet. It is definitely a tough choice!
Also, you're brave for going on such a long road trip with the animals and they seem to have done so well!
It’s a cool idea and I would love to rent it but on the other hand Shane has a lot of haters. I wouldn’t want them to risk their house being destroyed.

After seeing ya'll in Colorado, LA just feels... done with. I cannot really have an opinion as I don't know how either of you really feel, but it's like LA just doesn't suit you anymore. (Maybe more so Shane, he seems to have really found home in Colorado.) You are both growing and thriving in your new environment and I love that! It feels like watching two friends who have had a hellish couple of years find some real happiness. Sending love to you both in whatever you do

Sure, but his mom lives there so I think part of the appeal is being able to stay somewhere else when they visit. I'd say he should sell this and get a condo to use when they want to visit because as long as his mom's alive he's still going to come to LA from time to time.

I too don’t know the whole story, but from what I have observed, your life in Colorado just seems calmer, happier and more authentic. I am with team sell the house. You can always make LA a vacation destination rather than an obligation. As you start a family it would be nice to simplify your life rather than add stress of maintaining a second home. I hope whatever you decide helps you to continue on this healthy and healing path.

Of course it’s weird for Shane, he experienced some of his darkest days in that house and returning there can make it all come flooding back. But you know what? You got through it Shane. I’m proud of you. Whatever you decide, it has to feel right for you. Trust your instincts, yes, anxiety will get in the way, but trust the part of yourself that leans towards the positive. Having the alpaca's is probably gunna be so good for Shane. More so than dogs or cats, something about taking care of herd animals, needing to be disciplined and calm for them, translates to the humans as well.
I get the nostalgia and clearly Ryland lives for LA... But honestly my favorite people to watch are the people who have left LA. People seem so much more real and happy outside of that lifestyle. Maybe clear that house out more, rent it out and keep a few weeks open each year for your own trips... But in the end it comes down to what will make both of you happy together. Good luck!

Ryland grew up closeted in colorado so la represents freedom adulthood and more and shane grew up in long beach so la doesn’t have the sparkle and excitement it has for him. He had a lot of negativity and got to move somewhere with close family and nature where ryland moved “back home” where he grew up and sees his family all the time again. I totally get why they have very different feelings about it. I think they should sell the la house but get a smaller vacation home so they always have a place to visit.

I agree with selling the house. It's like choosing breaking up with your partner, you think about all the stuff you went through, the good and the bad, you think about it being a waste to break up because of the many many memories you made together, but then you think about is it worth it to keep this going even though you're both hurting each other. Then you take some time apart and coming back and realizing that you were becoming a better person without each other.
I'm so impressed with how well Cheeto, Uno, and Honey do on road trips!

I don't think it's about him being "materialistic". I think he feels like he's a failure for moving back to his home state instead of "making it" in LA. This isn't true, of course. He'd be successful no matter what state they were living in, but sometimes our feelings/emotions aren't rational

My parents have 5 alpacas. They’re soooo easy to care for. Just find a good vet that deals with alpacas, find someone who can sheer off their fur in the spring, and 💥 all you gotta do is feed them.

I get why Shane feels better in Colorado , when you’ve been through something traumatic you don’t want to be in the space it happened in . It just feels like the negative energy always hangs around and weighs you down. Im planning to move for the same reason from Houston to San Diego to get a fresh start

It’s hard to heal in an environment that I’ve associated with mostly bad things . I feel your pain

I feel like Ryland is the literal definition of material girl and doesn’t want to get rid of the California home specifically because of its value.. Shane seems so happy and I feel like Ryland is trying to hold on to LA with every last grip of his strength.

Well to be fair Shane grew up in Cali and is over it. Ryland grew up in Colorado so he might of been feeling the same way when he moved to Cali, you know?
That LA property is stunningly beautiful and feels like home. You say it is all materialism, but their new house is more dark and dank--definitely more in line with Shane's aesthetic and style. Their CA home is light and airy and pleasant, totally Ryland's vibes and preference. I completely understand why Ryland iso attached to their original home--it is a really special property.

Idk what it took for them to get the house but they were sooo happy when they first got the beautiful home. In the end it’s all preferences, Shane is from California and obviously he’s over that life. While Ryland is from Colorado and loves California bc of how different it was for him.

As someone who’s lived in Junction my entire life, I often forget how truly beautiful it is. I’ve watched Shane since the Shanaynay days and I’m genuinely shocked you both ended up here even if it was only for a short time. Next time drive the monument! Only like 30 minutes of a drive and it’s so absolutely breathtaking! Plus Honey and Uno would love it. 😌❤️

Omg the alpacas are going to have all of those deer friends, that's going to be so cute! You'll love the alpacas, they are amazing to be around every day. You'll probably have to be very patient with them for a while, they are naturally very shy and not an immediately interactive animal but they are truly so sweet and after a few weeks of you being around them and feeding them every day they will warm up for sure! Just know it isn't personal that they are scared of you at first, they are like that with everyone! The more you can show them that patience and gentleness, the more they will know they are safe there and have a great home!
