    my workbench looks just like yours lol,. But I think what mine is missing is that little shelf above the workbench. I think that maybe instead of leaving tools lying around on my work bench I could put them there instead. It would still be messy but I might have more space to work :) I liked how you filmed the clean up too.

    Del, if I were to send you a small bottle or box would you just fill it with the essence of 20 years of guitar playing please. Your outro playing from 21:50 on was just fantastic.

    Del, here’s my trick for measuring the thickness of the top when there’s a rim in the way: take a piece of scrap that’s small enough to fit inside the top and thick enough to be higher than the rim. Put it in the top and measure over both (easier with calipers) and subtract the thickness of the scrap piece. If you don’t have caliper, lay the box, top down, on the bench and measure from the bench top to the top of the scrap.
    If you have a digital caliper, measure the thickness of the scrap, hit zero, and then measure the scrap and the box top. The caliper reading is the thickness.

    Thanks Del. Maybe when I get some spare time (I'm retired) I can build one ! I've had boxes for a year, and done everything but those. I rehab old & junk guitars for kids& those who can't afford them. My latest project is repairing a broken headstock on an acoustic guitar. I will be a first for me.! This is a very nice guitar, so it has to look good. That c.b.guitar mite be my next project.! Thanks for the video to get my interest sparked again. Mine will be strictly an acoustic one though. I already have an electric guitar....

    Del, thanks for all the video's. I'm a wood worker and building these has been on my list for few years. I finally started not 1, but 3 builds at once after a few years of watching your videos. Had to build my first one for myself, one for the brother-in-law that told me about them, and another for a good friend that will teach me about playing guitar (only he doesn't know it yet) I built my own boxes out of pallet wood. I'm almost done with them, but noticed that my fret board is even with the top of my boxes. Whoops on my end. I have some ideas on how to fix it, but I'm wondering are there any down falls to having the fret boards flush with the top of the box? Can the bridge just be a bit higher? Or is it in my best interest to go ahead and fix the necks now? Thanks! Tom

    so...question. How does a fella locate the groove for a non-traditional nut i.e. brass bolt, etc? i am building my first cbg, but taking my time. have gleaned tons of good knowledge from your content. my thought is, the bend of the string, should break over the crest of the nut, zero fret, etc. in order to maintain appropriate pitch using open chords and such. forgive my noob-ness. i come from a machining background, so my OCD tends to get the better of me. thanks in advance for your time.

    • @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar
      @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar  2 роки тому +1

      yes you are correct... the scale length is from nut to saddle (or bridge). this is important and has to to be exact or you will have intonation issues

    Did you know a cigarbox costs 30 £, so 40 dollars. We all fight over them and you can't even secure the ones on e Bay without it getting even higher, we don't have much to choose from plus we don't have cool American numberplate those cost us 30 pounds. So, where do we go from here.....?

      i use 35mm slide boxes, fishing boxes, trinket boxes, cutlery boxes, also fruit bowl's, frying pan's, i've now started making my own boxes, as you say in the UK cigar boxes are just too expensive.

    • @MrChegcelestialslides

      @@paulhammersley4562 me too I make fancy boxes and use violins or cutlery boxes or projector slide boxes no prob, I find mahogany ones. Once you start making your own boxes, they get so nice and its fun, then you're quite happy to forgo the expense, but if I lived in America I would use cigar boxes, because they cost a dollar there.
