Well said
Hi guys, you are doing a great job and helping a lot of people including me...laid about 3 m of drainage , after the first heavvy rain it was floating now I have a better idea how should be done. Thank you, greetings from the land down under
I love how Chuck explains the product and the process in such great detail the do's and don'ts. No hidden secrets or mysterious tricks because he tells it like it is.. Thanks again Chuck!
Thanks man! But if you read these comments, My request is for an in depth discussion on grade/slope. How do you maintain a top edge min relief for the channel drain all the way across if you are laying it with a grade? Or does this main channel not need to slope?
I have 40 feet of the Aco K-100 system on my driveway. The system is available pre-sloped, meaning each successive 3-foot section is a bit deeper. The built-in slope allowed the top of the drain to be level to the driveway while having high flow velocity. It's polyester concrete composite, rather than straight plastic. It's a commercial-grade product, much sturdier than what is sold at Lowes/HD, but has been worth every penny. The grates can be removed without a screwdriver. I excavated the concrete and trenched for the drain pipe but hired out the drain installation.
Great explanation and demonstration of a very common problem. I have a question....... Why wouldn't it be better to go back in there with a deck drain with a removable top grate to enable a much easier future maintenance ?
Thx
Good simple explanation. Have a good week. Do you put a layer of concrete under the channel drain or just on opposite sides of the channel drain and have dirt below the channel drain?
Good morning to you in the USA from wellington Somerset in the UK
Thank you. Helpful video.
I would have like to heard more about a new installation. Also would like to know how to make the slope needed to allow for proper water flow out of the system.
What type of sprayer hose is it that you used to clear the drain of all the packed in dirt? Was it attached to a power washer?
if I use the NDS channel drain that you said works best in concrete on a driveway and would like for the water to drain to the sides, would the channel drain need to be sloped?? The pipes beyond the outlet will be sloped of course.
I love this guy
Hello, do you have a video install of channel drain to gutterpipe. Channel drain would be approx 15 feet away from the house.
Have you ever re-visited sites you did say 10 years ago to see how it is still doing?
Hey Chuck, "how close to the surface" can you lay a french drain?
having new patio installed- they want to use a Deck-o-drain and it will drain into the new drainage system to carry water away. Will there be any way to clean the deck-o-drain if there is not an open end??
Thanks!
Debris seems to pop out then go right back in. I dunno... seems like it'll clean a little but just a little.
Is there a way I can install a channel drain across my gravel driveway to keep water out from under my carport or does it have to be in concrete? I can't afford to pave it but I need to keep the water from flowing down the hill into my carport.
How about running a drain snake up the micro channel drain it you don't have a jetter?
where do you get a MINI JET/JETER ?? Found it..Just googled what is a JETTER
Can you use hot mix asphalt instead of concrete ?
In Australia our water has to be sent to the storm water, not just to a convenient piece of grass that will become a lake! I need to know how to hook the channel drain into the down pipe/storm water..pleeeese!!
Which is recommended around a house? This or channel drain or both?
Do these need slope? 1/4 in per foot? Are they presloped on the bottom to keep the grate level? I’ve seen similar questions on here. Whose got the answers????
Is there a first part of this video? I need somebody to hold my hand from the very beginning to walk me through every moment of this project. 😮

Is it ok to lay the concrete in there with no form? Just straight against dirt? If so that is what I want to do with my next section. All of the project is below grade and will be covered by 2 inches of rock.
They suggest 4 inches of concrete under the NDS pipe if you drive over it.
We had that micro channel drain around our old pool. The top eventually breaks and fills with dirt. Pain in the butt
What did you do to fix it?
What if I have no outlet to daylight to finish the drain?
I live in a very small town and my yard is at the same level as the street. No curbs. Would it work to run channel drain into perferrated pipe and lay that into a deep bed of gravel in the ground. Would that work?
You might need a sump pump
I pulled out the old 2 inch channel drain around pavers. The new nds 2 inch won't fit because of shifting pavers. should i try eresetting pavers or cut the pavers with a concrete saw? ty
Yes
You showed the connection, you say?
No you didn’t!! The main part of the job that I need to know…
Does the channel drain need to be pitched toward the drain side ?
It will work level, but the flow will be a lot slower. Slope helps considerably. Of course, then the drain is sunken at one end if the surface is level. I have a pre-sloped system where the channel sections have sloped bottoms and get progressively deeper toward the drain. The flow is very quick even though the surface is level. Costs a bit more, but well worth it since the bulk of the project was labor.
Also, go with smooth-wall PVC, not corrugated. I specified SDR-26 gasketed pipe which will probably last a hundred years or more. No worries about equipment driving over it, and it hasn't clogged at all in five years.
2:15 how about asphault driveway, will that hold it in?
Yes!!!
Waw. I am the first view 😁
That man up north could learn a thing or two.
That’s funny
Never saw where the water ends up at?
screw anchors into dirt would work.
