As a lifelong NJ resident I’m very glad to see a non-Jerseyite who doesn’t mercilessly shit on this great state. Also Alaska is gorgeous. Hawaii is beautiful too and its overbearing tourist culture is a real shame because it’s genuinely a really beautiful state if you’re not staying in a Waikiki resort.

Vermont gets bumped up a few tiers if you like skiing, probably the best state for it on the east coast. But the whole state is just so cozy, everything just feels like a small town or mystical forest. Planning to move there if i can convince someone to split rent with me

The sad reality of touring is for longer epic tours, you’re kinda forced to stay in little highway towns that are copied and pasted. The country is so homogeneous now, it’s hard to find those little unique hotels anymore. It’s all Holiday Inn now. :(

The governor has passed a ton of bills that defund public schools, ban countless books, target LGBTQ rights, and restrict abortion, and is now actively trying to make sure that we continue to have the second highest cancer rates in the country. Plus, the endless cornfields and complete lack of urban planning feels viscerally dystopian with how flat and monotone most areas are.

Washington's geography's pretty diverse compared to other states. It has beautiful mountainous ranges in the west, and more flatlands in the east. It's like a mix of flat states and really hilly states.
I completely get what you're saying about Michigan, but giving it an f tier without even acknowledging the great lakes, or how it's Sufjan Stevens home state when you brought him up earlier, OR how cool it is that it's made up of two separate peninsulas?? Maybe I'm biased because I've spent a lot of time in Michigan, and I went to the upper peninsula for the first time only a month ago, but there really is a lot more to it than people give it credit for. Yeah, there's REALLY fucked up parts about how it's run, but at the end of the day that's also the whole US. I'm not mad about the placement at all, I just have a lot of love for the nature and culture of Michigan. Also, I think I just have a special interest for the great lakes. (banger of a video btw!)

As a WV native, it is miserable but the music scene has a great sense of comunity, at least near the area I'm in. If y'all ever get the chance to go to a house show in WV, go and y'all won't regret it
Virginia is honestly a very interesting state, but not in like the fun exciting way that NY, NJ, etc. is. It's definitely shifting from its southern roots and culture, especially up north, and even more so in Loudoun County. There's a potential for it to become more of a urban breeding ground for more loud and vibrant culture, which may or may not be the best cause the smalltown culture is really sweet and homey. I can see how for someone passing through it that it may seem a bit bland, but you kinda have to let it soak in for a while to recognize the beauty. TLDR: Its not necessarily boring, but its no NYC. Also ofc WV sucks thats what happens after you break off the GOAT 💪

ive lived in houston my whole life. i think houston is a great city in an awful state. it shouldve stayed the capitol over austin. it's better in every way, and the general of the texan army was sam HOUSTON, and NOT stephen f austin. plus, sam houston university is better than stephen f austin university. san antonio is cool, and although the alamo story is badass, it's also incredibly problematic. austin is a very progressive city and prides itself on selena (even though she used to be more popular in houston, and austin is just taking advantage of its higher tourism), but austin also unfortunately has a LOT of frats. and you probably dont think texmex is very good because all the places you went to were owned by white people. in houston, theres a far higher number of places that are more authentic, less messy, and just so much nicer. additionally, the houston symphony is one of the greatest symphonies in my opinion, and jones hall is probably my favorite place on earth. btw dallas is an actual hell scape. it's the worst place on earth, and id rather die by jupiter's atmospheric pressure than to take a single step in dallas.

As someone who's lived in both Minnesota and Indiana, Minnesota being lower than Indiana, (especially after how much you talked MN up), is... admittedly a bit baffling.
I would make a tierlist of states I've lived in but there's only two so I don't really know what to compare them to other than each other so uh... Minnesota A tier, Indiana D tier. The end.

Good takes on Wisconsin. Culver's is hella overrated, especially their cheese curds. If you want good curds, you gotta go to a local cheese castle cuz they source from nearby farms.

ive lived in houston my whole life. i think houston is a great city in an awful state. it shouldve stayed the capitol over austin. it's better in every way, and the general of the texan army was sam HOUSTON, and NOT stephen f austin. plus, sam houston university is better than stephen f austin university. san antonio is cool, and although the alamo story is badass, it's also incredibly problematic. austin is a very progressive city and prides itself on selena (even though she used to be more popular in houston, and austin is just taking advantage of its higher tourism), but austin also unfortunately has a LOT of frats. and you probably dont think texmex is very good because all the places you went to were owned by white people. in houston, theres a far higher number of places that are more authentic, less messy, and just so much nicer. additionally, the houston symphony is one of the greatest symphonies in my opinion, and jones hall is probably my favorite place on earth.
btw dallas is an actual hell scape. it's the worst place on earth, and id rather die by jupiter's atmospheric pressure than to take a single step in dallas.
