    The problem is it’s only considered extreme to be like a Benny Hinn or a Bill Johnson. It’s not considered extreme to not believe miracles happen at all anymore. Considering all the healings and miracles we see in the Bible, it should be considered extreme heresy to think God just stopped working thru people to do those things at all.

      Cessasionist do believe in miracles. They don’t believe in the gift of healing is still active today. Meaning PEOPLE do not have the ability to heal as the apostles did in the New Testament. Faith healers today claim to have the ability to walk up to people and BOOM instantly healed, if it doesn’t happen they blame the individual for a lack of faith.

      You know the bible is chronicling about 6000 years of history (at a minimum if you’re young earth), there are big gaps in time that span 100s of years with no miracles taking place. The miracles God does through men are the exception, not the rule.
      Also, I’ll + 1 to the comments made above, and I’m a cautious continuationist myself, former cessationist.

      Was DR Brown teaching that for a saved believer back then, future sins for that person is not covered by Jesus Christ?

    • @danielkim672
      @danielkim672 8 місяців тому

      @catholictruth102 Why should Christians ask for forgiveness? The Forgiveness from God to us have two sides to it. One is the positional forgiveness. As believers in Christ, we know that Jesus Christ will stand in for us before the judgement throne of God. This is REDEMPTION. Not our merit, but Jesus' merit, through His Blood. A promise by Jesus that will never go away. It is positional, always there.
      But as Christians, sons and daughters of God the Father. We have a relational relationship with God. We are in the process of santification and discipleship, to become more and more like Jesus. In Ephesians 4:30, we are told that believers, when we sin, we Grieve God. Our response is to confess and turn away from sin. As a child, this is a natural thing to do when we commit a wrong against our Father.
      So for you. Let me ask you a question. God demands perfection, not a single sin to get to heaven. So if you forget or miss to confess one of your sins, do you get to be with God in Heaven since you didnt actually confess a sin?

    • @danielkim672
      @danielkim672 8 місяців тому +1

      @catholictruth102 Not only the Lord's prayer, but why do we pray and repent in general? Do you not say sorry to your parents if you go against them? Your spouse if you are married? Anyone else?
      We have positional relationship with God in that as a believer, in the sight of God, we will be judged blamess as Jesus Christ covers our sins before God in judgement. But we are still children of God once we are saved and have ALSO a relational relationship with Him. We are not in our perfect bodies and sin still. When we sin, the Bible teaches that we GRIEVE the Holy Spirit. We do not lose salvation, but as children, we should confess and turn away (repent) from sin to restore the relationship relationally with God the Father. As Children, that should be our desire.

    • @Racingfan101
      @Racingfan101 8 місяців тому +1

      @@danielkim672if we deliberately sin and are not unrepented, I do believe clearly we are not saved. Our fruits should show our salvation. God shall not be mocked. Christianity is a life we live and not just a set of believes. If I keep hating people, the love of God is not in me. If I commit sexual immorality (and not repenting for it, feeling sorry is not repentance) I will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Not talking about perfection, as Jesus is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us from all since and unrighteousness. However I believe a Christian is in constant communication with Jesus (prayer, worship) and cannot continue to live in sin deliberately.

    • @danielkim672
      @danielkim672 8 місяців тому +1

      @@Racingfan101 In your example that you provide, it is my belief that the most logical explanation is that that person was never saved to begin with. They may be mouthed it verbally, or perhaps even made himself/herself believe they were saved, but they were not. To me, the clear Biblical teaching is that once we are saved, and are true born again Christian and went from death to life, we can not go back to death. That is due to not our own works, but the work and blood of Jesus Christ that is imputed to us.

    Dr Brown is perfectly right here. The cessationists will ignore a charismatic’s agreement/consistency on the deity of Christ, Christ’s resurrection etc but absolutely rail him and label him as unsaved because he believes in an abundance of contemporary miracles. They do all this whilst never calling out any error in their camp and even worse whitewashing and endorsing terrible acts of racism and immorality from some of their heroes. They ignore the plank in their eyes and they use a false balance. May the Lord have mercy .

    • @MrBattlestar10
      @MrBattlestar10 8 місяців тому +7

      "Never calling out any error in their camp." This is just whataboutism. The issue is that there seem to be very few voices within the charismatic movement, a movement that's been shown to have false and abusive teachers over and over and over again, willing to criticize said movement from within. Nobody is saying Michael Brown needs to dedicate all his time to criticizing people within his movement, merely that he be more willing to be some sort of voice willing to help regulate a movement with a lot of problems. I don't agree with people calling people unsaved for defending false teachers. But you can understand why people would say such a thing, no? Imagine for a moment that there was somebody defending the ancient heretic Arius, I would think that would easily be grounds to have serious doubts as to their salvation. And when we today have leaders within the charismatic movement flirting often with heretical doctrine, are often obsessed with money, often make false prophecies, often make false healings, put words into God's mouth, abuse people etc. And people like Brown seem to be willing to defend way more often than condemn such leaders, this I think can be frustrating to anybody on the outside hoping for somebody to be more critical. If you love something, you'll be critical of it, have high expectations for it.
      "Plank in their own eye." The excessiveness by which people use this phrase makes it seem like it would be impossible to ever be critical of anybody. Paul called himself the chief sinner and yet wherever he went he was intensely critical of all he came across. So its not that somebody or a group they are apart of needs to be perfect before somebody can be critical. Its warning against hypocrisy, self righteousness, and pride. If anti-charismatics were critical of charismatics for false prophecy, but there were major people within the anti charismatic movement who made false prophecies and were ignored, then this verse would apply better. If anti Charismatics acted like their movement had no problems and was perfect, then the verse would apply better. If there were major issues within the churches of the figures who were anti charismatic, and they ignored these in favor of continuing to be critical of charismatics, this verse would apply better. Its not obvious to me that the majority of those critical of the charismatic movement have these sorts of planks in their eyes.

    The person who made me question continuationism and consider cessationism was James White indirectly. He's more directly the reason I'm a calvinist. James and Mike are dear friends. They acknowledge each other as brothers in the faith. And they've even debated opponents to the deity of Christ together. James even said of "A Queer Thing Happened To America" - having written a book himself on homosexuality and during a seminar on ministry in that subject - "I also recommend Dr Brown's book, A Queer Thing Happened to America. If you haven't read this book, you have not read the best book available on this topic." I ultimately lean more towards Brown on the gifts now, having grown up in the pentacostal church, but I don't know that I would necessarily call myself a continuationist. But one thing's for sure: Dr. Brown is a gift to the church, and I know Dr White agrees. The first book by him I ever read actually was - as a teenager - Revolution. And I think everyone should read both of those books. Both are giants of the faith and have left volumes and volumes of writing that deserve to be read. Honestly, they need to write a book together. They absolutely should. It would be legendary.
    Also, I LOLed really hard when they said "this is where it's going" and scrubbed over to where he had all the books on his desk and reems of paper. 😂😂😂😂

    I really believe the MORE we learn to hear from God ourselves and have our own relationship with Him the better we keep others and their gifts or lack of in their places. It is no one else’s fault but ours for putting someone in God’s place then only to get disappointed when we see these are HUMANS he uses for a very good reason. He has chosen earthen vessels for this very reason. The Holy Spirit Himself is to lead us and teach us and He uses gifts with people but HE is the gift

    This so good! I would not have seen Dr. Brown's rebuttal without you showing it...however, I was aware he was that caliber of scholar ... he does a lot with his debates, radio and worldwide in-person speaking as well. He calls out what is more important, people trapped in dangerous delusions, so calling out every Christian faker would be a massive waste of time; they can do it without him (and probably want him just to add power to their own doing so). Every time I've seen him in person over the years it was the most spiritual academic amazement imaginable.

    As a non believer I wanted to know the bible. I read it one to three chapters a day. For each chapter I read four separate commentaries that break down the bible chapter by chapter. Each commentary was roughly the length of the bible itself. Jewish, Christian, Atheist, and scholarly perspectives I entertained. My reading took about two hours and then I would watch videos on UA-cam. Dr. Brown struck me as the most intelligent Christian on UA-cam and it really surprised me that he was Pentecostal. Most of the brains belong to the Orthodox branches. Agree or disagree, you got to respect this man.

I believe it's in 1st Corinthians chapter 12 or 13 how it talks about we are all part of the church and we all have gifts to bring to the church. We all have a part to play, let's stop giving pastors all the work and all the attention and find what we can help out in your local church and the church in general. Pastors and ministers are not superheroes, let alone our Lord and Savior Jesus christ. It looks to me that Dr Brown is maxed out with time, and makes good use of his gifts. Let's worry about us finding our talents and our gifts and how God would want us to use those gifts to edify his Church..

    Ive been listening to Dr. Brown for years and have read many if his books. One thing I've noticed, especially when he's defending himself, is that because he IS so well spoken and knowledgeable he has developed into a very sophisticated gaslighter and deflector. Much of his arguments against criticism of specific people are "have you written so many books as I have?" I like a lot of his books and teachings, so im not trying to dig on Michael Brown. All im saying is watch his debates and video rebuttals closely and you"ll see what I'm talking about. One of the things i really agree with him on is his question to the Reformed circle as to why they are not so willing to be as critical to their own camp as much as Dr. Brown has been to call out errors in charismatic doctrine and excesses. Within the Reformed circles, as long as you are affirming correct doctrine then we can bypass human behavioral errors and personal prejudices as in the example of the Reformed camp refusing to criticize the Reformer Martin Luther for his antisemitism and vulgar attitude towards Jews and theological opponents.

I earned Master's in Theology due in large part to his commitment to academic excellence. Mike isn't doing anything different in defending his record than Paul did in several of his letters. The fact that he has such a public platform and influence makes it all the more important for him to do so. The body of Christ as a whole is suffering incredible damage from the garbage that is peddled under the guise of "Christianity" from underneath the Charismatic umbrella, with very little being done from within to stop it. As we saw in the recent roundtable interview he was a part of, instead, we get lots of excuses.

    A question to him, or any other, do you expect those with different callings to trust his findings that are in his calling? He does not trust those who do see their calling in finding and condemning false teachers, rather he fights them and relies on his own perspective, which is by his own admission not even there because he is too busy. I know James White, Justin Peters, Chris Roseborough all trust and respect him for the things he has done. Why doesn't he reciprocate?

      I believe the mistake you’re making is how you use the word trust. For example, Dr. Brown's statement, "If true, then they're false teachers," did reflect trust. He acknowledged that they had done research but that he would need to verify for himself. That's exactly what Christians are supposed to do. We're not supposed to believe something just because someone presents us with their evidence. James White, Justin Peters, etc. follow the exact same standard. They don't believe something Dr. Brown says even if he presents his evidence. They check for themselves.

    Michael Brown has all the time in the world to write his books, but he doesn't have the time to look into claims THAT HIS OWN SON IN LAW - Ryan Bruss - has made for over 10 years about him taking regular trips to Heaven AND Hell. Michael Brown was once asked about this on his own phone in show. His response - "I don't know the details". Is he actually for real?! He has time to write numerous books, yet his own Son in law (who worked on the Sid Roth show funnily enough for years), is making claims that Michael Brown himself disagrees with, but he "doesn't know the details" of a close family member making such absurd claims?! Oh the irony. This sums Michael Brown up. He has plenty of time to defend himself and his own opinions, but choses to look the other way when it comes to things HE KNOWS deep down are simply not biblical. Only one way to describe people like this - spineless.
