I imagine there would need to be some kind of controller in place to recognise the interruption and switch over. Tho this would be a pretty cool functionality, like an internal ups that kicks in only when there’s a power loss.
Maybe it will solve somebody's problem. I have a Lenovo Yoga 310-910IKB with an old battery. Such a slim laptop with integrated battery like phone has. It can not run without battery. The trick is to add some energy impulse on startup. Find plus and minus wires going to the battery, the red and black. Then attach an DC adapter with the same voltage. In parallel to the red and black, I have pairs of them. Make a T - solder in the middle of wire. Do not overload voltage too high, find almost the same. In my case 7,68V. A kind of old Nokia charger 7,5V works well for me. It is written on the battery what voltage is needed. Couple of resistors may decrease if too high. Or make a startup kit from AAA batteries 1,5 x 5 = 7,5V. Maybe more in parallel to be stronger. Or what is needed. The load through plus minus goes in both directions - using and charging, just there are voltage drops when BMS doesn't need to charge lithium. So, anyway, attach this "starter" DC power supply source for a second or two when the main DC charger in USB-C is plugged in but the laptop sees the dead battery and does nothing. Instantly the laptop thinks "the battery is ok '' because the battery gives energy, necessary amps in fact. And Lenovo starts running also with blue keyboard lights -right the from USB-C charger power supply adapter that is strong with 20V. Just remember to disconnect additional "starter" DC to the battery. When keyboard lights turn off, then it is enaugh to push. Sometimes windows finds no battery or battery with 255% charged. Shows "plugged in" always. It does not matter what it shows. And datetime should be updated every time windows loads. What a shame. I had plenty of thoughts about expensive lithium replacement, or complete removal of the battery. But, there is the charging circuit integrated and small, BMS with its thermostat, cycles counter. Laptop almost talks with battery about its health. Eh, when it is designed and made to work with the battery then You can not simply remove it. Too complicated. Or should bypass battery and charging somehow. Some do it for phones, works on DC adapter. So, my take is: just wire up in parallel a small DC push on startup and it works. By the way, ventilation also takes energy. No need to cover completely everything, left a space for air. Cheers.
Thank you. Saved myself having to open up my laptop to physically disconnect the faulty battery to stop windows shutting down within a minute of booing. A dual boot computer where Ubuntu has no issue. Unfortunately I need Windows to run two applications, otherwise it would be redundant. Thanks again.
Is there any damage to the laptop when it is connected all day to electricity ? By the way i removed the internal battery and my device is Dell latitude E5570
There will be no damage when doing this! Unlike a desktop computer that has an internal power supply that you plug into the wall, laptops just use the AC adapter for continuous power as the total wattage is much less.
Question: I unplugged my battery from my laptop and my computer still doesn't come on even with the charger. It wasn't coming on before so I did this to see if it'd help. I plugged my charger into a different computer to see if it was the problem but the other computer said it was charging so what do I do?
Hi, I have a question. Despite removing the battery from the device manager I noticed that it still got charged to its full capacity. I am doing this to preserve the battery life so I was wondering if it's better if I just use the battery and unplug it when it's fully charged or if it won't get damaged as long as I disable it.
Disabling Battery Manager in control panel will only stop the windows service, but physically if you connect charging plug to laptop will still exists a electrical connection between charger and battery, so YES YOUR BATTERY WILL BE FULLY CHARGED in some time, and of course the life time of battery will be reduced. The only way to prevent or care battery is physically disconnect the battery from the main board.
Hi, nice video. Sadly my new Legion 5 15,6" 5600H + RTX 3070 won't turn on without a battery plugged in. Even the laptop power led won't turn on when the power plug is on (without battery). @@TheCSandED or you can plug your power adaptor into a UPS(if you have one), which will act has an backup battery and will help in protecting the laptop during power surges.
First of all thanks for the information. A quick question, if I use my laptop without a battery and sudden power surge happens , will it affect the internal circuits and other components inside the laptop ?
I can't say with certainty but I would imagine that your laptop would behave exactly the same whether you have a battery installed or not during a power surge because the AC adapter doesn't plug directly into the battery itself so your laptop's other components will still experience the surge. Of course, using a quality surge protector is ideal in either scenario!
Usually the power adapter is isolated, it has capacitors that act like bottles for power and it very quickly fills them up to ensure they never get empty as laptop drains them. At same time, it makes lower voltage, like 19V, and those circuits adapt quickly to various input voltages. There are also fuses and protective diodes. If such a diode gets shorted due to a surge to protect your mainboard or hdd, you can take it to repair shop to replace just the burnt diode and it will work again. It's possible to just remove that diode, but you will have no more protection for next time. I had this happen to a hard drive, I played with some power wires and put them wrong.

2. Is there anyway to enable the battery when the laptop is turned off incase there is no AC power available?
Waiting for a prompt reply. Thank you!
Great video man. Keep up the good work!!
I too am here for the answer to this question, can anyone help?
I imagine there would need to be some kind of controller in place to recognise the interruption and switch over.
Tho this would be a pretty cool functionality, like an internal ups that kicks in only when there’s a power loss.
i tried disabling the driver, my battery was 80% before, played for a while then when i was done i enabled the driver and the battery was 100%
@@FashionableTennoso this vid is completely useless for preserving battery life ?
Cheers.
Dude thank you so much. My battery is having a problem causing my pc to sleep randomly. So now with battery disabled i have no problem.
Thank you. Saved myself having to open up my laptop to physically disconnect the faulty battery to stop windows shutting down within a minute of booing. A dual boot computer where Ubuntu has no issue. Unfortunately I need Windows to run two applications, otherwise it would be redundant. Thanks again.
Is it possible to use the laptop like you said disable the battery from device manager? I mean no removing battery from inside
And in that case, would the battery be preserved ?
My laptop has a bloated battery,. Will disabling the battery as in this video stop the bloated battery from growing? Thanks.
What if i don't have the battery in my laptop & i want to turn it on ?
Is there any hardware changes that i can do to bypass this
Can I just disabling the batteries in the device manager instead of disconnect & remove it out?
Is there any damage to the laptop when it is connected all day to electricity ?
By the way i removed the internal battery and my device is Dell latitude E5570
There will be no damage when doing this! Unlike a desktop computer that has an internal power supply that you plug into the wall, laptops just use the AC adapter for continuous power as the total wattage is much less.
So I can just disable battery via device manager (as taking out battery in my laptop is hard) and It will just take power from AC adapter?
This was so useful and I’m so thankful for this! You’re a life saver!
Question: I unplugged my battery from my laptop and my computer still doesn't come on even with the charger. It wasn't coming on before so I did this to see if it'd help. I plugged my charger into a different computer to see if it was the problem but the other computer said it was charging so what do I do?
does this mean if i disable the battery and then unplug the charger my laptop will shut down/turn off?
That's unfortunate. I don't know why the OS can't just sever the connection. @@Kuchuflaz
Hi, nice video. Sadly my new Legion 5 15,6" 5600H + RTX 3070 won't turn on without a battery plugged in. Even the laptop power led won't turn on when the power plug is on (without battery). When I turn the battery off on the device manager the laptop won't show the battery on the taskbar but the laptop will still run with a battery (without a power supply). This is weird and I don't know how to fix this. The laptop works great without any problems but I would like to remove the battery since I never run the PC without a power plug. Would be nice to save battery when I sell this or actually need it.
I haven't found any tips online and if someone knows how to fix this I can give a huge virtual hug :) Thanks!
Currently in the same boat dude
You manage to figure out how? My legion laptop wont run at all or even show the power indicator without the battery connected
@@KSH172 For some weird reason I did search laptop bios settings like 2h ago (totally different reason). I found some setting about laptop battery + power. I didn't have time to check it out yet, but going to test that tomorrow. I'm hoping it will fix this issue.

finally my question is now answered. I don't want to use my battery , i just want to preserve it for something very useful. it's great that laptop can work without a battery. thank you.
Update? If we keep battery disconnected it's safe?
My laptop doesn't have bypass charging, i think i have found a new alternative, thank you so much sir.
This method is not valid. I disabled the battery driver while my laptop wasn't connected to the AC adapter. The battery icon disappeared, but my laptop continued operating. I also turned my laptop off and on again and booted normally. The battery LED is still on. Laptop: HP Envy 13-ah0001nv
I unplugged the laptop battery from mother board, and i am using via direct connection, however i am not able to use my 1050ti laptop gpu. is there anything i can do to fix?
I'm scared to use this method...
I heard that my laptop is the type that cannot be powered without a battery.
However, if you use the method above,
Won't everyone suddenly die?
And, I'm worried that I won't be able to turn on my laptop since I won't be able to configure the battery settings.
I want to use the above method to check if the power really doesn't come on without the battery, but I'm worried that the power may go out and I won't be able to turn on the laptop.
In a case like mine, is there any solution?
Please reply.

Hello sir is removing the internal non-removable battery and just disabling the battery in the device manager have the same outcome? What I did is I just disabled my battery from my device manager cause I'm afraid to open the laptop as I may damage other hardwares. Is that okay? Will it work now with just the A/C plugged in and not using the laptop battery? Hoping for your answer thank you so much
No, disabling in the device manager only make the battery icon go, the battery will still be conected and charging. Good video but doesn't include this glitch so basically useless.
Thanks a lot for this video,I have a question about if I have a internal battery and I won't to remove it I can removed it with the système,and this method will damaged my battery after plugged with a charger
Will I have any problems with the laptop overheating if it is always plugged in?
I pulled the battery on my old Alienware from 2014 to clean out the fan and when I plugged the battery back in it smoked like crazy and melted the connection since it’s so old I really don’t want to put any money into it I’ve already got a new $65 screen on the way but I think I’m just going to use it plugged in 24/7 , sooo my question is , will this be harmful to the laptop if I use it long term with no battery ?
You found any answers?
Do only disabling the battery from Device manager make it not charge? Please reply me as I don't have the right screw to remove the back of my laptop to remove my battery. Will it work and not charge the battery by just disabling it from Device manager?
Why is it that I disable my battery, but when i unplug my charger, its still working?
Would be interesting to see how the absence of battery effects the airflow, cooling etc
Thank you. While laptop is plugged in, screen backlight keeps going light or back-and-forth between light and normal, so I was concerned if I'd be needing to replace the battery soon. From my understanding of this vid, I'd still be able to use my laptop with just the ac adapter plugged into the wall outlet. Very reassuring.
This video is helpful for my laptop. Thanks.
Thanks for information,sir ... I'll try it next ..
Beautifully explained. Thank you.
This will surely help me in gaming !! Thank You a lot but a doubt what if we are running it like a desktop and the power supply cuts will it switch off ? And how do I turn it on using battery ?

Is this harmful in any way? Otherwise this is really good for preserving your battery. When working at a desk for hours on end, you can just disable the battery at ~60% rather than continually plugging it in and out, or leaving the charger in at 100%. What do you think?
It shouldn't cause any issues with your laptop - it's no different than a desktop PC that is plugged in at all times.
