I love this bike. I always thought you could get an aftermarket wind screen that comes up a few more inches and use this bike as a touring bike without dad-bike energy.
Yes i agree with the livery of this bike, is simply amazing and the gold olhins are a perfect combination with all colors of this bike. the “mono”seat of the eu version is also great and make this monster even better.
Chase, I noticed a few spots where there is some odd audio in the video that doesn't belong. I just grabbed one, at 30:15 I hear "now" kind of low and in the back. That was probably the third or fourth one I noticed.
You are totally correct my friend. Full transparency I was rushing to get this video out and didn't have time to do my final audio pass like I normally do so a few mistakes made it threw on this one. Working on getting on time with our video releases so I'm not up against the wire like I have been the last two weeks but I'm slowly getting us back on track. Sorry for the less then stellar audio in this one!
Ha, pretty, it looks like one of my favs the SV 650 grew bigger and then went to the WBR garage for a make over and I love it. Which middle weights do I preffer? I preffer the less expensive ones with less tecnology are the MT 07 and SV still regarded as mid range?
Great content and review! :-) I got an SP back in February and absolutely love it. It's my first motorcycle and I'm having so much fun. Curious how you film those wide shots that appear as though you have a cameraman following you (especially when you were on 400). Is that Insta360?
I have an 1100 Evo🥰😁it's just FUN-fun-Fun! ... And, have been looking for something for daily ride to & from work that is a bit less service intensive, my choices right now are between a used Monster 1200S or a new Monster 937 Decisions🙂
This bike looks awesome, but I miss the trellis frame too much. Ducati could have, and should have, built this bike and called it something else. The Monster trellis frame was an icon and I'm sad to see it retired
You got it wrong about the V2 and Monster sharing the same engine. The Panilgale V2 and Streetfighter V2 share the same Superquadro 90-degree V-twin making like 153HP. The Monster has the Testastretta 11-degree V-twin, it only makes 111HP and not as high revving. Totally different platforms. The Testastretta is more streetable you know. Great video but you should have known the details :P
@@chaseontwowheels omg I feel dumb now, shoulda realised you were referencing that V2. Ducati naming schemes are confusing. Sorry about my dumb comment!
For the price I guess I don't understand? If you seriously refuse to buy a MT-09SP or Mt-10 (don't like the looks or something, whatever I get it) and want something out of the ordinary, the Tuono V4 is really within striking distance at this point and is an incredible bike, not to mention KTM's lineup.
100% the reason this bike wins out against the Street Triple or a Tuono or KTM is straight up because there's no dealership for those brands in my state.
I see the monster as a more classy (as for my opinion, at least) better looking version of the Hypermotard minus the ride height and look (which I do dig, on the Hypermotard 950). But the Monster is great and confortable, while retaining the madness of the Hypermotard. You do get same engine, and a lot Lighter package. I would just change the sead to a black one. I actually like the paint scheme of the SP (more than I thought, I jjust don't care for the red seat). I'd get the Monster Plus assuming that one has the Ohlins, because once you go Ohlins, you can't go back, and having installed Ohlins on my Honda, It is usually cheaper to get it from the get go, and you do get some other cool stuff on the SP. THis is, in my opinion a more refined Hypermotard. Yet, its still trackable. BUt if I where to get the Monster, I'd have to get rid of my CB1000R because I couldn't justify both, where as if I had a Hypermotard 950 RVE or SP, That could be a fun Canyon/track bike, though I coudl do same with something like a cheap Ninja 400? Other bike I'd consider is Strettfighter V2, but I like look of MOnster and Hypermotard idea better. if you could ride a new Hypermotard 950 (RVE or SP) I'd appreciate it to make a judgement, though I may jsut go rideone. I've did ride a regualr 2020 Hypermotard 950 and LOVEd that bike. but it is more of a second bike, wher a Monster/Streetfighter is a main bike. As for Nakeds & Highway, there are a lot of Nakeds that are good on the highway. Like the MT-10, my CB1000R, and even the z900RS I believe. the Yammy XSR900 is good too. I'm thinking I may go for a Hypermotard as a second bike, and keep my Honda CB1000R as my main bike/road bike. But if I didn'thave the Honda I'd get this bike, though the Street Triple is nice, and the XSR900 is a nice looking bike... I'd keep my Honda still? or the z900RS? the Kawi is my favorite looks wise. But I believe the XSR has Cruise control? Maybe? That is a plus sinc eI do take long trips on my bike. OC
I own an SP. it does have different suspension than the standard monster. All Öhlins on the SP. Base model has basic, minimally adjustable, components.
Good review as always. The adjustable suspension is about all you're getting for the extra $$$. Same motor, same output power, etc. The Termi system adds very little value to it as far as I can tell over the Monster plus. Brakes on the other models are absolutely amazing as is...you get the Brembo Stylema caliper for the SP. Curb weight for the Monster plus is 414 lbs, SP is 410...4lbs difference. The steering damper? Meh. For reference, I've been a happy Ducati Monster plus owner for a year now, and after nearly 6k miles on my bike, I'm pretty familiar and comfortable with it and its performance characteristics. For the additional $$$, be difficult to justify not just going with a Streetfighter if staying within the Ducati naked family. And I would totally agree: You're getting more bike for the $$$ in the Street Triple RS...which is on my "next bike list for sure! Awesome bike as well! Just my take.
The best two bikes in the bigger middleweight sector is either the Yamaha MT09SP or the great handling KTM Duke 890R The Triumph is very track focused and would be faster on the track but not as fun as the KTM, which would be more fun on track and so much better on the road. The MT09SP is nearly as much fun but is more versatile at doing everything You really need to love Triumph or Ducati to consider them as the better options. They are very very good, but not in my opinion, class leaders
Great review. Love the engine, but the fact that they went away from the trellis frame and made it look like an old fz07 ruins it for me.. because I used to have a 2015 fz07 and I didn’t like it
