Motorcycling, Off road Green lanes with the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Injury to one rider

  • Recently had the chance to do some back road, Green lane Byway riding with KTM Steve and a few other riders. I never knew there were so many good Green lanes close to home.
We all set off but as the day wore on we gained in confidence and I feel I'm a better rider for the experience.
One of our group toppled off his bike which landed awkwardly on his ankle. Fortunately it was just bruised and he was able to ride home.
A lesson learned. I'll be riding green lanes again No doubt BUT not on my own....Just in case!
Thanks to Steve who guided us on this day. He was full of helpful advice and he gave of his time for free. Thankyou Steve!
Check out KTM Steve's channel here: / streakyone
Colin rode his old Francis Barnett Motorcycle called Norman, or was it really a Norman motorcycle? Either way it was 73 years old and goes just as fast today as it did back then:)

What a cracking video Sandy; a delightful area; loved every minute of it; thanks so much for sharing.
Loved Colins bike; my word, what a likeable chap he is.
Finally got my Himmy today (Monday). Went out with my wife this evening for a little tootle round the quiet country lanes running in at 40mph.
Think we’re gonna live this little bike.
Thanks again, take care and ride safe.
    Cheers
    Neil
Ps. Glad the poor chap wasn’t hurt; it’s all part of motorcycling.

@@WiltshireMan Fell in love after one ride. Looking forward to doing some byways when she is ran in.
She isn’t as noisy etc as I was expecting, to be honest; but the mileage is still very low, so that might all change.
I was lucky as RE have fitted hand guards, crash bars and panniers and all for a very good price; plus, she is Euro4, as opposed to Euro5. Worth every penny.
Looking forward to your next video. Take care and ride safe Sandy.

Looked to be a good ride out. I think if I had the choice of your bikes for that trip I would have chosen Norman, because of his light weight, and also because I like 2 strokes. Chug would have been my second choice (sorry Chug, I do still like you). Colin said Norman doesn't like hot starts. I wonder if that is a sign the mixture is a bit rich?

I agree especially where footpaths and bridle ways are used by motorised vehicles. This is illegal and the riders can be prosecuted. Byways though are a different matter and unless it says "Restricted" they are open to all traffic and I'm fine with that
