Hay Sandy, sorry mate forgot to say, " You reap what you sow my friend", you put a lot in to you channel's and all of us subscribers know it, and those who gift you things are showing their appreciation for your work, your open honesty. In this world today it is an inspiration my friend. Regards Moose
Thanks Moose, I know many of my viewers do appreciate the effort that goes into the channel. I'm just trying to shine a light in what can be a dark world at times:)
Thank you Sandy for your lovely videos. They have kept me going through a difficult time. Six months of Chemotherapy for Prostate cancer. Can't wait to get back on my bike. You are an inspiration.
That's some really nice gifts from very kind people looked like a great night out in the woods Sandy. Your a inspiration to us all mate atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
I left wiltshire in 2009 for Australia and since discovering your youtube I have become incredibly home sick . You remind me of the beauty of my home thankyou sandy.
I love my Firebox. I did kick in for the ti version to cut the weight in half. I’ve used charcoal in it when there was no wood to be had, worked a treat. Nice overnighted, Sandy!
Calming indeed, Sandy. Always love a camp video. That's our tea sorted for tomorrow. I'm going to give the burgers and potatoes in a wrap a go. Love the new gear and always a great job you do of showing us. Until the next one . Take great care . Best wishes P & M
Thank you so much Sandy. I derive so much comfort and reassurance from your beautiful films. I've been watching your films for so many years now and I marvel at how your skill and creative flair as a film maker has grown and grown. Now, your films to me are audio visual poetry, if that doesn't sound too hifalutin. Many many thanks once again for the care and hard work you put into them. They are a wonderful gift!
Thanks for your kind comment:) I do enjoy all aspects of making the videos from the experience of the Camp and the filming to the editing and also interacting with viewers through the comments. It's all a great joy:)
Another enjoyable video Sandy 👍👍. You are a brave soul camping out on your own in the woods. I had to smile when you shimmied your way into the tent lol, looked like you were entering the mouth of a shark😃. Take care, stay safe, well and happy. Judy 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Sandy, a small rubber ball inside the foot, tied with a clove hitch around it could work as a tether point. The guy line could be supported on a Y stick and anchored to the ground with a peg. That might work to free your feet from the bivvy material.
I think you are happiest when surrounded by trees and the wonderful sounds of the birds and other creatures, of the British countryside, Sandy. Thank you for sharing.
Surrender to what is good what is honest what is right. I like those words, just one of many reasons I am grateful that I found your channels, what a good man you are Sandy.
You sandy good sir are a credit too British society and may you long continue to do so 🫶 i dont think i could manage a bivvy in my current stage of life 😂 i always tip my hat to you good sir 🙌🙌👌
“A good feeling about this camp” “I’m enjoying myself” just what a camp should be about Sandy,I keep saying it but it’s totally true, being out in the woods is medicine for the soul. I think camping out in the woods is a natural cycle of sleeping at the right time when nature and your body tell you when it’s time to sleep. Not been able to do it for years now but still remember the feelings. Another lovely video, thanks for sharing Sandy. 73’s
I went through a bad patch of not sleeping but thankfully I'm getting some decent sleep again now, the one thing that helped me was going to bed NOT too early. A good bedtime for me is 11pm, then I'll read a book for a bit, normally only a page or two before I start to nod:)
You mentioned recently Sandy how cold and wet May has been! To my surprise yesterday the Met Office said it was one of the warmest on record? A UA-cam channel called History Debunked (Simon Webb) posted a video today expressing his complete surprise with regard to the Met Office’s comments. He referred to George Orwell’s excellent book 1984. Thank you, another smashing video.
Neat setup that. If you can find space for a lightweight tarp too then you're completely covered. Towards the end when you were making your coffee, you were down in what is known as the Asian Squat. You'd be surprised about just how many in their 60's and younger that can't get down that far and if they do, they can't get back up again. Well done and keep that heart pumping.
Hi Robert, I put it all down to being physically active, the dogs get me out walking 3 times a day and I try and ride my bike 4 or 5 times a week. It's important to keep moving
Looking very nice there the lake and on your bike looked dry makes a change being dry we had a lot of rain nice to see you doing a divvy camp in the woods stay safe and stay healthy one life enjoy blessed be
Fantastic to see the woodland so green & lush, not to mention seeing you in your natural habitat. Thats a proper Wiltshire man nest. Very cosy indeed. My HR team at work got the giggles with me when I said can I request a new winter overcoat now it’s June. They agreed to order me one as it’s been so chilly recently. I guess it’s all the geo engineering & cloud seeding done by the government making May cold wet & miserable. You’re looking well Sandy.
Thx Sandy., I enjoyed this., & it was nice that you were given some great gifts yes., and ya sure made some yum food too yes yum., thx for sharing your camp., I enjoyed your talks too.. sweet & sometimes you're funny too❤., makes me smile❤..
Hi Sandy. I'm feeling a bit down today and this video cheered me up. There were three stuff sacks, one containing the pole for the head, one large one for the tent and a third one, which I thought was for the pole for the foot box. I hope it's in the bottom of your pannier bag. The top of the cozy should fold back to enable you to eat your porride from the kettle without removing it from the cozy. All the best 🙂
Thanks Andrew, I hope you soon start to feel better again, I'll have a look again for the third bag, I didn't see it when I took it out? Maybe it's there somewhere but it's a lovely bivi and it worked really well for me. I loved sleeping with the bug net closing the door. I could feel a gentle breeze and just see the dark silhouettes of the tree's against the night sky. What a wonderful gift, you are a very kind person Andrew. I shall be going on a bike packing adventure on Wednesday and will use the bivi and stove again then:)
I couldn't sleep in one of those, being one of the many older folks who need to visit the "outdoors" in the middle of the night. I made a cone stove out of an old pot plant, not as smart as the one you got, but works well. All around, another great video Sandy. Hello from Down Under.
The BBC weather man said last night that it had been the warmest May ever. Average temperatures were higher. No cold nights over the UK. I thought it was cold like you.
I love my Rab Ridge Raider Bivi and about time you had a new MSR Titan pot that you haven’t peed in. Please keep it this way so I can share a coffee with you 😂😂😂 Thanks Ant 👍🏻😉
Hi Ant, I was very impressed with the Ridge Raider, I especially enjoyed laying there with just the bug net closing the entrance, I was warm and no insects could get in. As for the new pot we shall see. It certainly made good porridge when combined with the pot cosy:)
Hi Sandy, just wanted to say what a lovely campout. The bivi looked a little tight at first but very comfortable once you were in, thank you for all you do sir 👍
looks like you have some nice equipment to enjoy on your adventures. I had a one person bivy shelter when I was a young man but traded it for a motorcycle. I have wished many times I still had that bivy. I now own two different US military bivy bags but they are both too small around to allow me to use a winter sleeping bag on top of a backpacking type inflated mattress.
I noticed the bivvy is eVent. Thanks for reporting on th.e dry sleeping bag at the foot box. The eVent must make that sagging foot end acceptable. Always enjoy your camps
Hi Sandy, to make the bivvy bag foot box take shape instead of being flat you could buy 2 x Wild Sky Gear DCF cuben fibre tarp tent adhesive heavy duty 3M stick on tie outs. Stick the tie outs to the upper corner of the foot box on either side, after cleaning the area with alcohol. Then attach 2 x guy ropes to the tie outs and peg them out over 2 x notched sticks, about one foot high, half way along the guy rope. The stick on tie outs are about £10 each. Hope this helps ?
The recent gifts that were sent your way seem to be excellent additions to your arsenal of outdoor gear Sandy. Your lifestyle of activities are always enhanced by practical and useful equipment. You had a great trip and a great camp out there and your video was very enjoyable and entertaining to watch. Keep enjoying yourself doing what you obviously love to do. Thanks for sharing another adventure, see you on the next one.
Nice philosophy and good vibes Sandy. Bivi reminded me of over a decade ago when I first found your channel with your terrier Elsa and you tucked in the old hooped bivi, Happy days.
That was a brilliant video Sandy.Your enthusiasm was really apparent from that camp. That bivvy looked like it took a bit of a wriggle to get into.I’ve never slept in one.I wondered if they feel a bit claustrophobic. I liked the intro graphics as well.
Been following your various adventures a few years now Sandy. Always good content, photography and editing but wow, this one is such a pro production. Superb quality images. It must take a lot of effort to do all of this alone. I, for one, really appreciate and enjoy what you give us on a regular basis. Power to to you.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video from the other side of the world. Totally agree with the sentiments you expressed. Maybe we should all sit around the campfire. Thankyou for sharing, looking forward to the next one. Best wishes.
I use it all over the place lol… it’s great on boots, zips, tent seems, even my airguns as it’s silicone based so doesn’t effect the seals etc….. and my car door rubbers stops them sticking in the winter lol…. I use the simoniz brand, bit more expensive but great quality stuff 👍🏻👍🏻😎
That kit really did look lightweight, without sacrificing the convenience of heavier weight items Sandy. What lovely gifts....Good things come to good people I say...karma is a wonderful thing. Couldn't do that bivvy nowadays, but it looked like a good bit of kit...Rab usually is good quality. The Chiffchaff's there have definitely found their voice now it's egging season
Chiff chaffs were in full song Steve, Yes egging season, Maybe as a kid we would go bird nesting, but as an adult I never would, I leave them well alone and even have put up nest boxes for the birds. As a result there are a lot of small song birds in this woodland:)
@@WiltshireMan Oh...actually egging...not done that since the mid 70's. Today I take photos now that we have today's technology...can't see me vlimbing s tree today lol. I'm stoked that I've actually got house sparrows in my back garden again after 30 years absence. Nature always finds a way and bounces back
Top notch that sandy. Love the positive energy and vibes echoing through this upload made me feel alive. Great to see new kit getting a work out and nice to see honesty and integrity shining through. Some could use a lesson or two in that department. Your right what you said about it being cold, may was a shocker ! Let’s hope it warms up a bit in June. Keep up the great work sandy sending love to all the family the woofers and the apprentice. ♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍👍🫡🇬🇧
Hi Marcus, yes there are some really nice true and honest people out there but sadly others are not in that state, I guess really at the end of the day they are the one's who lose out because they are not honourable. As far as I'm concerned there's only one way to go through life and thats as an honourable person. Life presents us with choices, they are often clear cut. The path forward leads two ways. Always choose the right path, the sign post is bold and bright!
Wow I did feel abit claustrophobic watching you get in yer bivvy........ I do like to move about abit in a tent and getting up in the night for two or three widdles.....nah, but each to their own it was a nice pitch & the food looked hearty....look forward to the next one. 'Ull' east yorkshire.
Great Camp Sandy, nice and simple, good scoff and a lovely evening in the wood, superb. For the feet end of the Bivi, try your old mate " Joe, Hooped bivi camper" trick, and use two tarp clips and a guide line, that will work nicely bud. Excellent video mate, keep them coming, big thumbs up. Regards to one and all in the house of the Wiltshire Man. Moose.
Pebble (2) on the inside of the bivvi toe box. Then tie a guy line to each pebble, and support with an 12" stick via a guy line 😉 Works well on my Dutch Army Bivvy Bag. Helps shed water too👌😎
Hello Sandy. Laudable generosity is exhibited by some of your viewers and subscribers! I hope Andrew will not mind my piling on with a bit of criticism of the bivi bag as I am including a suggestion for a workable fix that requires no cutting or stitching. As soon as I saw that shelter pitched, I thought the design lacked a method of erecting the footbox area. A loop at each side of the top surface at that end of the bag would facilitate guying out those corners either individually, or with a stick placed transversely through both loops and then guyed with a single line from its center point. Simple fabric loops add virtually nothing to the total weight of the shelter. Three or more added loops could also accommodate another support pole, which the manufacturer could either include with the shelter or offer as an optional accessory for those who don't mind carrying an additional support in their pack. As for the fix I mentioned, please consider using "Clip-on Tarp Pull Outs" offered by "Dutchware." The seller even has a short video demonstrating their use on his website.
Thanks, Actually the bivi did work very well despite the fabric contacting my sleeping bag, only slight moisture at that point, but I maay try some clips later. The fabric loops and support poles that you mention would certainly do the job and not add much weight
@@WiltshireMan I slide my rucksack down to the foot end of my RR, once I've more or less emptied it (to lift the fabric up). The RR is nice and long and still leaves plenty of room for a 6ft guy. Maybe try the same with your panniers.
Hi Sandy, I really enjoyed the video. In Australia we use swags, and I used to have a small, light weight canvas swag that the Ridge Raider bivvy reminds me of. It was hooped at the head end, and I think you'd be interested to know at the feet end it had a tiny 20cm aluminium tent pole that fitted into a o-ring hole at the top of the foot box area, if that makes sense. It created more room for the legs and feet. That bivvy looks great! Nothing better than getting out into the forest for a back to basics camp. Thanks for making and sharing your videos Sandy. They are really enjoyable to watch! 🙏👍🇦🇺
Yes all makes sense to me Francis, I think the design of the Ridge raider changed a few years ago to incorporate a small support pole at the foot end, but mine doesn't seem to have anywhere to locate a pole. I may have to adapt something, shouldn't be too difficult
The English countryside in spring & early summer, nowhere better! The bivi always looks like a coffin to me but I suppose its practical, no good if your claustrophobic though. A fine feast, but no condiments? Neither mustard or sauce? Neither pickles or pepper? Maybe you like it plain. Breakfast looked good, only a mug of strong tea for me, coffee is a elevenses drink for me, strong tea is a much more civilised brew, still each to his own! Some profound thinking & well articulated as well. Thanks for sharing your camp.
I would just go out and wild camp in some quiet spot, anywhere close to a public right of way and you should be good, just pitch late and leave early and don't leave any mess
Lovely time of the year to be in the woods, everything is still that spring-green - love it! Not sure I'd be happy in a bivvy - I've got issues with confined spaces and am just not ready for a "bodybag" yet. 🤣 Look forward to your upcoming bike packing adventures.
Excellent! Enjoyed watching as always Sandy! I’ve checked Im still subscribed! I’m experiencing the same issue on my little channel too, I’m not one to beg for likes, subscriptions etc but it’s quite frustrating when we put time and effort into making our content and UA-cam rewards us by playing silly games! 🤷🏼♂️….. ahh well keep up the great work my friend 👍🏻😎very best wishes
All these videos! You are spoiling us. I camped last night, very cold but nice to get out. Whenever I camp, when I put tent up and cook I always think how much faff I make compared to you 😂
Enjoyed this video bro, speaking of frosts the weather girl mentioned tonight frosts from Wednesday for us and looks like a few days of them too. Safe travels. Ken.
Funny you should say that as our May was the coldest since 2009 said the TV weather girl, frost this morning and a beautiful day at present. No rain forecast till Sunday

You bring a simplicity and calmness that is missing in this chaotic world
The world of man is chaotic but the world of nature remains the same, we just have to turn to that which is good and natural and the chaos diminishes
It restores my faith in human nature when people give you stuff like that. How VERY kind. Once again Sandy thank you, most enjoyable 😊

I'm stoked that I've actually got house sparrows in my back garden again after 30 years absence. Nature always finds a way and bounces back
Another cracking video sandy you have some good followers
Lovely video sandy looks like your enjoying the cycle camping. I know I am.
Wow I did feel abit claustrophobic watching you get in yer bivvy........
I do like to move about abit in a tent
and getting up in the night for two or three widdles.....nah, but each to their own it was a nice pitch & the food looked hearty....look forward to the next one.
'Ull' east yorkshire.
Keep up the good work, I really like seeing you out and about. As a Wiltshire man myself I love the scenery.
We are fortunate to live in a beautiful county
Tarp clamps could work on the footbox. Nice relaxing .camp
Great video as usual, Sandy 👍🏼. Subscription is all good, mate.
That worked out pretty well, Sandy. It beats sleeping out cowboy style on a bed roll in the open under the stars.
A beautiful location!
I think I shall use this bivi a fair bit Michael
Great Camp Sandy, nice and simple, good scoff and a lovely evening in the wood, superb. For the feet end of the Bivi, try your old mate " Joe, Hooped bivi camper" trick, and use two tarp clips and a guide line, that will work nicely bud.
Excellent video mate, keep them coming, big thumbs up.
Regards to one and all in the house of the Wiltshire Man.
Moose.
Always enjoy your outings Sandy 😊
Thanks Trooper
Pebble (2) on the inside of the bivvi toe box. Then tie a guy line to each pebble, and support with an 12" stick via a guy line 😉 Works well on my Dutch Army Bivvy Bag. Helps shed water too👌😎
That would work Marty but may weaken the fabric over time perhaps?
I am not sure of the length of the Rab, but I can put my crash helmet and tank bag at the feet end of my snugpak hooped bivi.
Nocturnal owl singing was lovely!
I always love to hear the tawny owl
The English countryside in spring & early summer, nowhere better! The bivi always looks like a coffin to me but I suppose its practical, no good if your claustrophobic though. A fine feast, but no condiments? Neither mustard or sauce? Neither pickles or pepper? Maybe you like it plain. Breakfast looked good, only a mug of strong tea for me, coffee is a elevenses drink for me, strong tea is a much more civilised brew, still each to his own! Some profound thinking & well articulated as well. Thanks for sharing your camp.
Lovely woodland sandy. Would be able cycle Ridgeway on bike to beacon. No walked it is the terrain be to much. Love woodland you went to
Another great video but give me gas for cooking just done a month in France on one bottle. I do love your content ❤️
Enjoyed. All the best - S
Great video sandy. I just wish i could find somewhere to do the same kind of camp
Look forward to your upcoming bike packing adventures.
Hahaa, this was one of the best "Body bags" I've ever used to be fair Klaus:)
Whenever I camp, when I put tent up and cook I always think how much faff I make compared to you 😂
Another great watch Sandy...thanks for the therapy 😊
Both the bivi and the cone look great pieces of kit. Some well deserved gifts there mate. All the best.
Thanks 👍
Yet another great video Sandy. I think the feel good vibe extended well beyond your woodland. 👍🏻
❤as always!
Thanks Bolle:)
Fantastic video, love the chilling camps they are must. Looking good dad.
You can't beat a night out camping foggy
you make great videos thank you👍
Enjoyed this video bro, speaking of frosts the weather girl mentioned tonight frosts from Wednesday for us and looks like a few days of them too. Safe travels. Ken.
It's not been especially warm in the UK either Ken and yet our met office says it's been the warmest May on record!?
Funny you should say that as our May was the coldest since 2009 said the TV weather girl, frost this morning and a beautiful day at present. No rain forecast till Sunday
