I enjoyed your take on the 4Runner. I live in Pa, and I just bought an 06 4Runner that only now has 65,000 miles on it. I got it about 4 months ago with 62,800 miles on it. It's the Sport Edition in Gray. I love the look, and even though the hood scoop isn't functional, it looks really good. I changed out the XReas Suspension and put in new Coils and put Bilstein 5100's all around. It's a much better ride and handles much better too. Unfortunately, even though your's has more miles, it's much cleaner and doesn't have the issues we have up North with the salt. I want to treat the undercarriage, but not sure yet what to do about it. Btw. in the back seat, the center console has a place to put a garbage bag in it. You just lift up the sides of the console in the back. If you don't know about it, you'll figure it out. Enjoy your 4Runner.

The only thing bad about that shelf in the back is the taper on the last 3". When it's down, if something rolls to the taper it gets lodged against the liftgate and falls on your feet when it opens. Hellova vehicle though.
There is a hidden compartment in the top of the Glove box . Also if you pull off the front passenger headrest , you can lay the seat all the way back and it makes a nice bed . The Frames will rust bad in the rustbelt .You have to keep it well oiled or washed off in the winter if they use lots of salt . Also , The V8 motor ( 4.7 ) has the starter located underneath the intake manifold and a rubber belt that needs to be changed ( unlike the 4.0 v6 )
I JUST BOUGHT a white 2004 SR5 4Runner 48 hours ago with 253,000 miles on it, but it looks like it has less than 40,000. I plan to double the mileage before considering a new vehicle, and that will probably be another 4Runner. It rides so well that it's hard to imagine that it has a quarter million miles on it already.
Can I ask you how much you paid, Darivs? I'm looking at a 2003 Limited with 193,000 miles. Did you take yours in for a inspection before purchasing? Thank you.
@@jennaelliott5915 I paid $4000. I did not take it in for inspection. I did inspect the underside, and found 80% of the original paint on all components, with very light surface rust on the rest. The previous owner's Uncle owned the vehicle, and it was used for long distance commutes from AZ to PA and FL, so most mileage was highway. The tires, shocks, and left catalytic converter were replaced and timing chain inspected recently, but the right catalytic converter was no good, resulting in VSC TRAC and TRAC CTRL idiot lights being on, with traction control thus being disabled. A new $840 catalytic converter solved that. The top surfaces of the white paint are matte from sun bleaching, and the hood needs repainting, but other than that, the truck is tip-top. This was a local Craigs List purchase. I'm in MN, and the truck was from AZ. With so little aging on the paint and no serious underside rust, this truck was a bargain. I absolutely love it. I'm getting 20.1 mph, as read on the dash, using hard rubbered 17" Mastercraft Courser HSX Tour tires that came with it. They slip some on snow and ice, so I have to be cautious in corners in 2WD. Aside from the paint maintenance, the truck is pretty much restored with everything working. I could tell you a few things to watch for when buying one if you like.
Just bought one. One owner 10k. V8. Looks new 132k miles. Perfect service history. It’ll be a overlander in next life. Great off road truck for camping and capable for its age. Better than most today in its range.
Pretty cool video! But I disagree with the v8 not being far apart from the v6 in terms of power. I own a 2005 v8 and the power difference is pretty significant. Even with a 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires it will get up and go no problem. You really feel the difference with 330lbs of torque in the v8 compared to the v6 280lbs of torque. And v8's hp being 270 compared to 240hp. And to top it off there is not a huge weight difference between the two. I'd say go for a v8, but either one is a good option, you can't beat Toyota reliability and capability!
I'm looking for 07-09s but can't decide on 2wd or 4x4. I plan on towing an aluminum bass boat.. no more than 3500 lbs. Towing is not a problem... but its when pulling the boat out of the water.. especially on slippery launches
I like the V8s but I have the 4.0 v6 . ( 245 hp ) . The v8 has an interference engine and a rubber belt that needs to be changed and the starter is located UNDER the intake manifold .
@@jayhockley8841 Oh my GOD that sucks. I hate shit like that. Like my Lincoln's water pump UNDER the goddam engine. And that car was killed as a result. The v6 doesn't have either of these problems on the toyota? Good input.

Great review : just a note : it’s belts that need replacement, not chains (at least not periodically for chains). There’s a belt in the 4.7, and a chain in the 4.0
I think I’d buy a car off this guy just to get some laughs. Funny sarcasm. Love it. Good video. FYI, both engines can be 2WD and 4WD. The difference is, the 8 can be left on 4WD whereas the 6 can only be p/t 4WD. That’s my understanding, anyway. Nice video.
I have same exact 4- runner in 2007 for the last 10 years outstanding truck problem free, use to be a pathfinder man 1995,1996 & 2006,also a great truck heavier but I'll stick with the runner they can't be beat🤙
You can just turn the key and release. It has a feature that cranks the truck for you. Folks laugh but it's handy when you are trying to get in quick and roll the windows down and get the ac going or get the heat going
The v8 is a significant upgrade to the v6 for all use cases and also easily wins in the durability department. Do the timing belt every 120k and it should last forever -- the 6 eventually grenades. Resale prices confirm which is in greater demand with v8 4x4 specimens routinely fetching over $20k after 17yrs of use! V6 4x4 can be had for $8k.
We have a 2003 V8 and a 2009 V6 and the V8 does sound way better and is more smooth, but for a few reasons I think I like the V6 better overall. Both absolutely bulletproof trucks though.
I bought one ( 2006 V8) in 2018 just before the plague with only 66,000 miles on it for $7500! It looks a lot like this one. I have been offered over 15K on it just last year! Best bargain I ever got!
Never had a severe issue with this vehicle except that stupid cracked dash board issue. My 04’ V6 SR5 4WD only has 94,000 miles. Manufactured in Japan so really if you can keep one keep it. Toyota soon will only be making only their GR line and upper luxury line in Japan, the remaining of their manufacturing their vehicles lines is being moved to Canada and Mexico.

Great video. I like your funny comments. But more importantly how you summarized the 4 Runner. Good stuff !!
Next time I buy a car, I'm driving down the Florida. I have an '06 and it's a constant battle against the rust demons.
Ha, I have the exact vehicle he was looking for- '05 white V8 Sport, 4WD, but I am not selling. :D Love that truck.
15 yr old 4Runner looks perfectly suited for sitting in that driveway of a nice FL home. Love my 04 V6 - will never sell it. 17:40 ROFL!!
😂😂😂😂😂 I love the raw, no nonsense, un-p.c. Presentation! Good vid, new sub!
This generation has aged very well, and are very rare to find in good condition for a decent price. I hope you enjoy it.
@@elonsus9747 Sure will!
Can I ask you how much you paid, Darivs? I'm looking at a 2003 Limited with 193,000 miles. Did you take yours in for a inspection before purchasing? Thank you.
@@jennaelliott5915 Is the 4Runner your looking at close enough that you can stop by and look at it?
There should be an AUX headphone jack input for the stereo inside the center console... look closely!
Zil Co inside center console..
Just bought one. One owner 10k. V8. Looks new 132k miles. Perfect service history. It’ll be a overlander in next life. Great off road truck for camping and capable for its age. Better than most today in its range.
This is why I moved to the mountains. I don't miss the insects or humidity at all. And yes, I have a 2006 4Runner, V-8. Best vehicle ever.
I need more places to put my weapons and drugs.
Next!
😂
I agree when I run illegals across the border no where to stash 'em.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In my 4 runner i carry 1 ton drug !
You’re an idiot and you don’t deserve this land for same stupid reasons
Good input.
I have a 2006 4runner, silver. mine is in great shape but yours is immaculate. nice job maintaining it
4th gen imho was the best looking one, love the proportions and rear.
I have yet to be the high bidder at Manheim. People swoon in as they make their way down the line. Insane! My best friend has an 09 I think with 30k miles. Had it shipped from Texas. We had to track it down. Pain in tha ass
Bill my wife's best friends have 2016 Runner they love it.. Enjoy every video..
It was a mockingbird. He was just mocking. As birds do. And thumbs up for the HILARIOUS fly commentary. I am looking at one of these right now.
Bought new 2005 4Runner SR.5 6cyl. 157,000 miles. Best damn vehicle I’ve ever had . Just bought 2015 for wife. She loves it . Both white
Love mine 2009 sr5 v6. Didn't come with the spoiler so I added an after market one. Looks a lot better.
I LOVE THIS GUY, ILL BUY A CAR FROM HIM JUST TO HEAR HIM TALK! 😎
I know I'm 4 years late in telling you this, but the AC 115 Butting is your DC to AC Inverter in the center consult, yes I love your editing of the 4Runner, you should do more of them, have fun in Florida..
Owned a 2007 V8 /SR5/4X4 Runner new, Not have been happier. Have a 2015 V6/SR5/ 4X4 all the capability(-2000tow) and a much smoother ride (+2MPG),thanks.
just picked one up for $5000 with 220,000 miles. Gonna try and beat the living hell out of it off road. Can't wait!
Thank you Master Chief for proving why 4runners are great 👌🏽
You dont have to hold crank the key for ignition, just one tap.
Love your paver drive! We have a 2006 model with the 8 cylinder. We love it!!
Thanks for the video man. You gave so much information and kept me listening the whole time).
“Yeah it’s shocking. It’s really surprising that you can be in the middle of the road with a car behind you” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great review : just a note : it’s belts that need replacement, not chains (at least not periodically for chains). There’s a belt in the 4.7, and a chain in the 4.0
Best option is the rear window that rolls down!
Love that rear window…
There is an aux in the elbow glove compartment its in there.
“It’s good they’re walking.. Looks like they can use it..” 😂😂
Awesome review.
How is that 4Runner so clean for the mileage and age!! Damn looks like a new car! Had to check the date of the video!
Nice video.
Dude this fella is hilarious 😂 and this is one of my dream vehicles .
I feel like 80 percent of those watching this are already Toyota enthusiasts 😂
I have same exact 4- runner in 2007 for the last 10 years outstanding truck problem free, use to be a pathfinder man 1995,1996 & 2006,also a great truck heavier but I'll stick with the runner they can't be beat🤙
You can just turn the key and release. It has a feature that cranks the truck for you. Folks laugh but it's handy when you are trying to get in quick and roll the windows down and get the ac going or get the heat going
Correct - a - mundo Kate! Barely have to turn it!
Very detailed and a great execution!
He held the key in the On position during ignition. You don’t gotta.
Not anymore. More like 12-15k for a decent one
The way I remember the difference between the hood and fuel door release is the one closest to the fuel door is the one that opens it. ie the left one
Wow, that engine looks brand new!
Love the 4Runner. Your narration is comical. Nice pavers. What sealant did you use?
I bought one ( 2006 V8) in 2018 just before the plague with only 66,000 miles on it for $7500! It looks a lot like this one. I have been offered over 15K on it just last year! Best bargain I ever got!
Dude what!! That's an insane deal.
With v8 I feel an immediate torque, very different from v6.
Damn that thing is mint. Mine was ridden hard, 264k (mostly highway) miles but still chugging
I just bought last week a 2005 same color limited 4WD with 193k miles leather seats for $11.5K Awesome car drives like new.
Not a timing chain on the V8 it has a belt, V6 has a timing chain.
