The 4runner frame is fully boxed and based on the Land Cruiser Prado platform which also is used by the FJ Cruiser and Lexus GX. Part of the reason I decided on a 6mt FJ over a Tacoma.

The last line in the poem hit deep......"snaps"
Never been much of a 4Runner fan... but then I saw this, and it has changed my mind. Thanks RegularCars!
I listen to Dave Ramsey in the background and want one of these. I'm being attacked.
Go to any Costco on a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning and it’ll look like an overlanding or 4Runner club meetup. I’m so glad those big tires, traction boards, and rooftop tents help you camp out for DEALS
Welp he did it. He finally reviewed my car. I have never felt more destroyed in my life...
*It was inevitable...*
He reviewed my car before I even brought it...
I have a v8 of this year and i wanted to let him review it, i live near him too. Guess i just waited too long to hit him up lol
Parallel Music Sorta of my car too (Toyota Fortuner) ... honestly reminded me of how much I like this thing
Little thing to mention after just getting one, avoid the rear air suspension when looking for one. In the case you do, just put the coil spring kit on, saves alot of maintenance hassle.
MYDUDES! I've been joking about those things feeling like Camry's for years! That seating position and detached road feel. Feeeeels like daaaaaaadsss carrrr
We ain't your dudes
@@ianholmquist8492 yeah I was thinking perhaps I should have used 'Friends' instead. But meh.
Ill be your dude
im ur dude
You guys just transition to the poem so fast I have absolutely ZERO time to prepare myself emotionally for an Oscar worthy performance.
Woo, these things grew large over the last 30 years! I just want one that's still a manual from the early '90's.
I love RCR because they provide such a human aspect to cars in a very sociological point of view, something as an inherent part of our existence. Instead of other channels that, although great, just look at them like machines. Thank you for giving the cars you review a soul.
4th gen family assemble!
jackelracer593 I have first gen Fortuner with 186 000KM .. close enough I guess
05 with 90k on her! Right up in the 422 potholes
3rd Gen Tacoma! Just about to hit 40k miles. TRD OR DCSB in Inferno
07 with 158k.
Mine was a third gen from '99, over 370,000km on it. Rust got it bad four years ago. I miss it dearly.
But now I drive a '02 LS 430, so it's not going to die anytime soon with over 420,000 km on it.
ive had an 04 4Runner for almost 2 years now, with the 4.7 V8, love the thing
Next do a Land Cruiser. It’s the only thing even 4Runner drivers fear.
My wife rolled her 07 with our grandson 4 times and they both walked away. Toyota has my vote for safety. Bumps and bruises for the wife. Not a scratch on my grandson. The only window that didn't break was his.
6:54 A lone Roman stands at attention
My personal favorite regular car. Long awaited.
Best way to start a morning!
Best car review channel on UA-cam. Bar none
5:00 the preferred song to play at an off-roaders' gathering
I kept playing that over and over.
lol I bought my 06 4runner for 7400 with 124,000 miles, no rust and no truck seat syndrome :0
When you said “Oh, it’s white too? Lets get this thing dirty.” I immediately thought “That’s what she said.” 🤣 Thanks for another great video. 👍
I hear you about the rust. Just brought my 06 V8 forerunner came out of Reno California. Frame is still shiny. Can’t wait to start building. Now I got a wicked dilemma that I may have to sell my 1997 Ford power stroke 4 x 4, that I bought new.
Now do an R50 pathfinder/qx4. 1999.5+ cause everyone knows VG pathfinders are gutless vs the facelifted vq35 versions
R50 Pathfinder/QX4: The official car of shopping at Albertsons in the early 2000’s.
I had a 2002 QX4. Surprisingly good off road, and the VQ was very good for it's time. Worst thing? Horrible back seat room. But, very good off road. AWD, 2WD, 4HI, 4LO, Atessa transfer case, rear limited slip diff. Did well on WA state mud trails!
First generation Honda Pilot is a lot like the 4Runner. It's built off a truck chassis, is boxy, has AWD, a V6, and has a following that uses them for offroading.
*the sun dips below the clouds, and I trim my pubic hairs like a Byzantine*
I just bought a 05' 4runner with the v8. Its high milage and has some rust. but it runs like a dream! i paid 9k at the dealer, and 4k getting new headers installed. beyond that there really isnt anything that needs addressed. the engine bay is immaculate. new brakes all around. Ill never get rid of this thing until it literally blows up
*Laughs in heavily modded late model Cherokee XJ
Thank you Mr. Regular and Roman for uploading this video at 3:30 AM PST! It’s a perfect cure for my Monday morning insomnia that isn’t too damn late to a point I can see the sun slowly rising up through my windows. Anyways, have a good week!
I'm surprised he hasn't done a 57 chevy, as iconic as it is.
My sister's boyfriend just bought a 90's 4 runner that had had a front end collision for $200. I had to cut a plastic section of bumper off with a hacksaw so the front passenger tire wouldn't rub, but it runs great!
When a teenager gets his mom’s SUV.....
When a teenager has some taste and gets a nice SUV.
Don't you dare equate the 4Runner as a MOM'S SUV... That's the Highlander.
The 4Runner is as masculine as Greco Roman Wrestling and the Pillar Men from Jojo without all associated homosexual subtext.
The 4Runner flexes, and the world parts to make way for it.
DavidELD dude chill I love the 4Runner it’s one of the best trucks ever!
Again and again this channel impresses me with it's writing! I get to listen to references i don't understand but pretend to! ....that outro poem was decently brilliant even.
Make 3rd gen 4Runner review please!
"Jeep-branded vehicles fear no other offroader, except for one name"
Suzuki: ..."Am I a joke to you?"
Pffffft. Suzuki ain't in North America anymore.
Which is a pain because I considered getting one this year until I found out that they left the North American market in 2012.
@@Gamma00Ray here's to hoping they come back.
That new Jimny looks so damn good... At least we can import the last gen soon.
I miss the old Pathfinder...
All nissan went to shit once they did a deal with the devil Renault. I loved my 95 pathfinder. I looked at late model Xterras and everything about them seemed cheaper and flimsier than Toyota.
Nice vid! Couple things though....the 2UZ is a V8. Was also available in 4Runners of that gen though. Also, the 4Runner is actually on the Prado chassis. It's very similar to the Taco chassis, but lacks leaf springs, along with a few other differences.
You need to take this thing to MOAB
Having had the previous generation 4Runner, I think it is a great answer to all the opposite questions, that lead you to "Corolla" or "Civic".
Dailying a 4Runner is like wearing Jack Wolfskin everywhere.
The poem was alright, but the true contribution of the Roman to this video is how he looks fucking MAJESTIC at 6:55.
"Smells like a Neiman Marcus coming out of there". Do they all smell like farts? I thought it was only the one near me.
It's always funny seeing the reaction from the driver behind me when my trunk window goes down haha
