It wouldn't be a stretch to say Larry Holmes possessed the greatest jab of all time, certainly from my film studies he is one of the best at using the jab - maybe the best alongside Pernell Whitaker, Muhammad Ali and Thomas Hearns in my opinion.
Holmes was a master with the jab, flicking the jab, snapping the jab, jabbing off the bounce and his jab looked as hard as a right hand. His feinting with the jab is also very underrated as you'll see here, Holmes could be very subtle with the feint and when you have such a stiff and fast jab, those feints could really ruin your rhythm.

Love it!!! I saw in an interview he said his secret to his outstanding jab was what he called slapping the jab. basically throwing loose not even balling his fist. That made it fast & that made people comfortable enough to get close then he would mix in hard ones to throw them off.

So he kept the land loose/open for the entire punch??

Yea he called it slapping the jab what it does is allow you to throw it way fast cause your loose kinda like whipping a towel it doesn't alwayshave to connect or do damage to be effective. But he used it for finding his range, always keeping your opponent focused on it. & setting up harder shots. & he would even throw hard jabs with it to always keep you confused & distracted. Look it up he says it in a couple videos on UA-cam

He learned that from Ali and made it better. He is "flicking" his hand not methodically throwing it. You can see that in Ali's fights against well, every opponent.

Boy that left jab! I wouldn't want to be the fighter getting nailed by Holmes' wicked left jab! 😳

A master class from the master. I don't think there's a heavyweight today who could go 12 with Holmes.

There are no heavyweights today or many heavyweights at all who can survive with Holmes and not get schooled like Trevor Berbick

Please could i get a felix trinidad left hook set ups. I always loved his style he threw a lot of lead rights & left hooks. His style always reminded me of mike tyson & manny pacquiao hands up slipping shots & countering with combinations. He had a peek a boo style but did it as a tall fighter. Thats why he ran threw welterweight division relentless pressure & fast hands & devastating power.
