When setting out the laser to trace the outline of the work....hold down the shift button on the keyboard and then click the frame button that will fire the laser at low power and show you where the work boundary is. Hope that helps. Cheers
I am at this time doing home work because I would like to own a lazer and I think the Reizer 20W Laser Engraver is the one I want. What I am wondering is where I will have to set it up is an enclosed room with a window. In your oppinion will I have any problems that I have to work around?
The height that you need to raise up the piece all depends on the project. If I am engraving a cup, I may need to raise the machine. Other projects I will raise the project up anywhere from .5” to maybe 2”.
I just for your channel and it's very informative. I want to make clocks and a few other wood items. Would this machine work to make shapes 24" in diameter? I don't think I want to go any bigger. What's the biggest your machine will make? Will the Fox Alien 4040 xe do this?
You will need a larger machine than the FOXAlien 4040-XE to cut 24” diameter. You will need the XCarve by Inventables or CNC4NEWBIE New Carve or a similar machine.
when making change over does the system come with all the instructions to make the change over?. I have been looking at this one and your information has been key!
Paw Paw, referencing our comments yesterday about drumsticks... Do I need to do anything to the cut layers to let it know it's rounded, or is the rounding so insignificant for a name that it doesn't matter? Thank you for your help.
If you are doing one line of small text just engrave it as if it we flat. Look at my pen turning videos. I did one with a Army unit with individual names. I showed the us army. I have done others as well.
hey papa enjoyed the video like always even tho i know everything that was in this video i always watch just incase you know something i dont lol 1 thing i did notice i also dont have a air assist therefore i use the setting overpass that way when the laser stops and moves up and back the other way it doesnt leave the burn marks on the edges just thought i would let you know in case you wasnt aware of that setting take care
@@PawPawsWorkShop Was it purchased directly from foxalien or was it another brand? The link in the video related to the laser was not to a specific laser so I was just curious. Thank you for your time :)
Very good. I just got the FoxAlien LE-4040 Laser engraver in. It's a very nice machine. I was wondering if you are planning to do a tutorial on Light Burn. Right now I have GRBL Laser. Thanks very much for taking the time to produce all your great videos Paw Paw.
That's an interesting idea. I had not planned on it because there are so many videos on Lightburn. Do you think I should do it? What is your biggest concern about Lightburn?
Thanks for sharing your skill. Lots of our customers forgot to change $32=1 to enable the laser mode. This video is full with details.
Thank you very much

Thank you, great tip
Thanks for the g-code update
My pleasure
Excellent video. I was bent on buying a laser but may go this route now.
Are there any disadvantages going this route vs. just running a dedicated laser machine?
For the most part you can only do one project at a time. Based on your budget having one machine that does both works well.
Does adding the laser to a router mean it won't perform as well or not be setup for the speeds of a dedicated laser?
About to buy my laser. I have the machine almost 3 years now and have never used it😢😢😢. Don't like the idea of using bits
Appreciate these thorough videos 👌
Glad you like them! Thank you for watching
Would like to see more detail on hooking up the laser. Im brand new at cnc router and laser.
Thank you, there will be many more videos coming.

Smoke is your biggest problem. If you can vent the smoke outside you should be ok
Very simple thank you 💐❤️🇮🇶
Thank you very much
Could this be converted into a plasma cutter if the bed table was made from metal grid. 🤔
I would not recommend that. I think you would be mixing apples and oranges
hi. I have a power laser 24VDC. How to connect this board?
I can’t make my laser reach the spoilboard at 30mm. How much did you have to build up the piece so it would engrave correctly?

Yes. I believe that is a 1000mm machine
Would the Sculpfun S10 module fit this machine?

I am new to engraving, and purchased a Fox Alien CNC Router Masuter. Can I connect the 20W laser without the controller box seen in this video?

Awesome thank you! I'll check that out.
I feel like my JTECH 7w works better than that 20w. 80% on the Jtech going that slow would dug in 1/16-1/8th inch
It actually did carve deep. I’m taking it slow with this laser and will be doing additional tests. Thank you for you comments
@@PawPawsWorkShop no prob! I just did an engraving on a walnut cutting board. Ran it at 67% and it was almost to deep lol
@@PawPawsWorkShop I guess all I’m all, I had expect more out of a 20w
May I ask which laser module you used?
20 watt laser

Newbie here, what file are you editing the GRBL in?
I use UGS Universal Gcode Sender. It a free software and works great

What size table is in the thumbnail
I don’t know. This was a scrap piece of plywood that I threw on a small table to do the video
@@PawPawsWorkShop thank you for replying
I just got my 4040xe and looking to make a table and enclosure for it
With laser is the right one for the 4040ex
The FOXAlien 20 watt diode laser would work well
You are not showing where you are typing in the changes for $30 etc.
There is only one place to enter data. You have a blinking cursor in the window.
First one!!!
Awesome! Thanks. Hope you are doing good.
Too bad the spindle needs to be removed. The i2r cnc makes it easy to switch between router and laser magnetic attachment
👍👍👍👌❤❤❤
Thank you

Yes indeed
