It's not considered double jeopardy, it's considered continuing jeopardy. If convicted but new, exculpatory evidence is discovered (i.e. jury tampering) a new trial is granted and considered as a continuation of the first/original jeopardy. In the circumstances of this case it would not be double jeopardy.

As a juror, you should be well aware of your duty as a juror. I don't know if this particular juror was asleep when that happened, but given the length of the trial and the fact that she did have the opportunity to go to the judge with a complaint, and didn't, is very telling.

The jurors claims is so absurd that i think the juror herself needs to be investigated. I feel she was PAID in some form or fashion to say that the clerks comments is what made her vote guilty. With ALL of the evidence, ALL o the testimony, there is no way a single comment or comments, is what influenced her decision. She was either PLANTED there by Alexs people to use as a "just in case he got a guilty verdict" or they paid her to make these claims. We all know Alex's people dont play fair and cheat. White southern wealthy males ALWAYS cheat in some form. The juror is either bought off or EXTREMELY EXTREMELY STUPID.

I am from coastal SC. He is a monster and a murderer! When I was 23 I dated a man, more than twice my age that could have been his twin! He was evil also, and when I heard Murdaugh speak, with the whining arrogant accent, it was like a visceral gut punch! I am telling you he is guilty as sin! Becky Hill was an ifiot and should probably be fired if she hasn't already! It took that jury 45mins to convict him! Maggie wanted to leave him, and he lied to her to get her back out there that night! She was extremely suspicious and told her friend that "he is up to something!" She did not trust him. He was panicked about having yo pay out for Paul's boating accident! And what he did to those children, trying to say that one of them was driving the boat, that killed a beautiful innocent young lady, instead of Paul! Disgusting! Can you imagine poor Paul, getting spun around by the first shot and seeing his father before he shot him a second time! And poor Maggie running to her baby and seeing her husband, then poit the gun at her! She tried to run as he shot her repeatedly! In the Netflix doc, it very clearly shows his brother loading guns into his truck and taking them away! He did this! He is guilty! He should be under the damn jail! Not to mention all of his other grievous financial crimes against everyone he ever represented!!!

I'm only a few minutes in, and I can not even believe this guy may get yet another chance. This guy was privileged his entire existence, along with those before him. To me, getting a new trial, would just be a continuation of that exact situation. I'm just not understanding how someone saying "a guilty verdict would be better for a book deal", is a reason to get a whole new trial and waste more taxpayer dollars. I mean, how many other jurors said the same thing? Was this juror going to get money out of this book deal? This is ridiculous already. I'm so sick of hearing his name.
EDIT: The more I think about it, I feel like a "not guilty" verdict, probably would've been better for a book deal. Look at Casey Anthony, it's a perfect example. Even just fairly recently, Casey came out with a short documentary series on Peacock about it, which was then followed by her parents making their own and taking lie detector tests (spoiler: they passed). Because people were so convinced she was guilty, but the jury saying otherwise, it got a whole lot more attention because it was controversial and to this day, one of the worst murder cases in the world. So considering how many years ago it was, and the fact that people are still using it for books, movies and documentaries, it just seems like it would've been better for the book deal to have a "not guilty". If he gets a new trial, whats going to be different? It's more money wasted, and considering what he stole, they don't need to waste any more on him. Besides, there's been plenty more material about him and his trial and all of that now, than there was then! If the topic of a book is enough to taint the jury and verdict, how would it be any different when its gotten even more publicity and is so well known?!

The best he can hope for is a new trial ( which he should get, not because I think he is not guilty, but to protect the process for everyone)

If this juror felt pressured or influenced in any way, she should have approached the judge about it. She could have expressed her observations and conflicting feelings so an alternate could step in or the court clerk be addressed before it spiraled to this degree. While the privacy and rights of a juror are to be protected, they should be made to understand the degree of seriousness their decision is to be held to. this is an abomination for the family. Admitted Criminals like Murdaugh don’t deserve this level of attention, money, and energy. The only influence this juror felt is by the defense team who approached her about her decision. That shouldn’t be allowed either

Regardless of how ridiculous what the juror is saying may be, the fact a court clerk made comments to jurors and people are more angry with the juror than the clerk is nuts.
Do I think hes guilty? Yes.
But it does not matter. The clerk takes an oath and has rules that apply to them.
She allowed her feelings to interfere with her duty.
She needs to be removed, and not ever be seated in a clerk position again.
It's easy to say all this knowing that he is an animal and clearly guilty. But what if he was not guilty? We know he is, but WHAT IF.
Clerk needs to not be in any position that has to do with our justice system.
She screwed up big time. And there is not room for people who cannot maintain their oath, in our system.
