Nice piece of kit Pete. Love the scope mounting system. Excellent review as always, no daft music or "Americanisms".

Great review and what a nice rifle! Did you find that the scope kept zero when removing and re-mounting it? Asking because it would be nice to be able to switch between scopes, one for driven hunts and one for stalking for example. But it would be nice to not have to go to the range every time one switches scopes.

As I recall it did return to zero well enough, for a simple mount it certainly seems to work.

I moved through Sauer 202, Mauser M03 and then a variety of custom rifles. I wish I hadn't got rid of my Sauer, but I have a feeling that the S&L will if anything be an upgrade on the Sauer

I've never liked the 202, but admit it's a great rifle, it was just never my cup of tea! Not a fan of the 404, although like the 505 a bit more, apart from that trigger system. If I had my time again then the S&L would have been my choice, even, over my beloved M03.

@@PCMGuns I was in love with my M03. Just insanely accurate and oozed quality

Pete would you rate Schultz & Larsen moderators,
I am interested in getting either the Superdome or the thunderdome over a Wildcat Evo

      Hi Jack
Wildcat do a good range of models and have upped their game considerably. Their Evolution series offers a modular approach, so you can buy one unit then add different muzzle and calibre adaptors, to suit your needs, prices around £320+. The Elite is their high end range with prices to suit £480 (compact), £610 (standard) and £835 for the Titanium option; lot of money either way and having neither seen of tested one, I can't really comment.
I like the S&L models, with a wide range of diverse product options; muzzle-mounted, reflex and modular at competitive prices. Both your choices here are highly viable at £260 (Superdome IR Improved) and Thunderdome at (£275). Dependent on calibre I'd go for the IR initially. Even their top end Ultra Venom is competitive at £320.
Me, I'd go with something from the S&L range
Let me know what you get?
