    Great video Matt. I'm a south coast anglia and I share your frustration with all the preparation and traveling down from London only to blank but the old guy who taught me how to fish 30 years ago said to me "catching fish is a bonus just enjoy the day", I always take that on board because I have a lot of blanks but I enjoy the day , good luck to all out there. That's fishing indeed. We fished a beach on Saturday that produces rays - thornback, spotted and undulate on its day. Night, a steep shingle beach into deep water. A small tide but still running hard. A few dogfish for our troubles ! If they're not in front of you, you can't catch 'em !

      Yep I think it’s understanding if it’s because of our angling skills or that the fish are not there

    Not been out since last summer! Not had time/energy and at the moment the fishing isn't great. March sometimes brings a few codling back through. On the flat sandy beaches near me (Bristol Channel) the rays are often on as night as you say. Walkback, plus had more success on the ebb here. Decent sized fish baits as shown. But if they aren't there, can't catch em! Enjoy your videos. Cheers.

    I haven't fished since last summer, but hoping to get back on it soon.🤞
    Interesting baiting methods. I've never used a drill before, but hey, if it works for you, I'm not knocking it.😲🤣
    I hope the fishing improves soon. But it still looked like a lovely day to be out.🌞
    Sewerage pipes, and fallout pipes, used to be a good place for fish to fishing when I was younger. 💩

      Thanks again mate, yea the fishing will turn on just need some slight change in conditions I’m sure of it. The point of baiting up like that was trying to do it with frozen baits that are ready and defrosted for the session I the morning .

    Unlucky Matt, that's my local patch. You did everything right. I normally fish a bit further northeast of where you are plus inside the army range. The later can fish right up and over the tide for Rays. Unwashed squid can be very effective and not huge baits. I've not fished for them for a couple of years but they were showing in numbers in January in 2021 along that stretch in darkness.

    Simular question to the last, but how often do you bring in the bigger baits to check? I'd imagine the tied on makerel etc would need checking less often?

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  10 місяців тому +1

      Depends on tidal run. But maybe 30 minutes. I used to time that! Also I’ll bring in if any sign of missed bite. Originally match anglers suggest 20 mins for worm baits. Too many times have I reeled in to find no worms left!
