I changed the rings but left the mains and con rod bearings alone and just reinstalled those. Got it all back together, cranked the engine, NO start! But I thought for a minute, then got out and unbolted the distributor and turned it 180 degrees and reinstalled. The truck roared to life...
You catching that engine had me worried AF, I knew a guy that detached his bicep trying to catch an engine unexpectedly falling. But you're doing the work and it works after, so great job! Be safe!
When you put the engine on the engine stand, place the adjustable arms such that center of gravity of the engine is centered on the engine stand's rotating shaft. Never center the engine stand on the crankshaft, youll end up with it topheavy and hard to rotate like in your video. If you adjust the engine so the center of rotation is closer to the cylinder head, the weight will be balanced, the engine wont try to flip upside down, and youll be able to rotate the motor on the stand with one hand.

Keep up the great work. Btw that lower oil pan is called a windage tray, it helps prevent oil from becoming frothy by separating it from the crankshaft. It will become frothy by getting thrown around by the crank introducing air. When that happens there is almost zero lubrication to the bearings.
Ever go around a steep curve, and have your oil light blink on during the steepest part? Yeah, that was scary. But it didn't wreck the engine at least (1971 Chevrolet Vega of all things).
I know this wasn't a rebuild but when you do, spin it up without plugs or injectors till the oil displaces the assembly lube and you have pressure then start it.
