This Kid Was BETTER Than Messi, But What Ever Happened? The Story of Victor Vázquez

  • The La Masia class of 1987 was Barcelona's greatest youth team EVER. This class included players like Gerard Pique, Cesc Fabregas, and Lionel Messi. They'd normally win games 10-0 on average. But what if I told you, there was one more - a kid who was ranked even higher than Messi by his youth coaches and fellow teammates. It might sound hard to believe, but it’s true. And it was no other than the La Masia class of 1987 captain - Victor Vazquez. But despite that, I’m sure many of you might have never even heard his name before. Just how good was he and what ever happened to him? Leave a like if you enjoyed and let me know what vid you want next 🙏 ❤️

It’s called Class of 1987 because they were all born that year, it’s how they name classes in Spain 🇪🇸
Glad I could share Victor Vazquez’ story with you all and hoped it motivated and inspired you! Leave a like if you enjoyed to let others know about his incredible journey 🙏
Edit: WOW Victor Vazquez messaged me on IG and thanked me for the video, truly a class lad 🙏💯

I find alot in vasquez, i started off strong in my youth, tore my mcl twice consecutively when i was 13-14. Moved onto academy football, got proper treatment to where i could play again. But it just wasnt the same, i played my last season ending on 7 goals and 13 assists, not a bad last dance in my opinion. I made it alot further than many people and im very grateful. I wish my teammates the best in their footballing careers, because i know a couple of them have the ability to make it far.

Dunno, that's more like the way a young person may think, but when you grow older you see how empty and subjective is the concept of "success". The guy is happy doing what he loves the most, that's what I call a successful life. Probably, at the time that that happened, he was frustrated but I bet now he just laugh remembering those times.

It reminds me of Ronaldo, doesn't it? He is exactly like that. Ronaldo would usually get described as that. No wonder, why Messi loves to compete against him. This is what makes Messi a phenomenon. He survived mourniho's madrid, without losing his footballing flair(supposedly).

I completely forgot about him. He was considered our best player back in Bruges and we were proud to have a La Masia product in our team. His last year he was kinda seen as a bad apple though because he was clearly tired of Bruges and didn't seem to put in the efford he did in the previous years. I know his carreer wasn't what he envisioned back when he was young but I hope it was a fulfilling one nonetheless.

This is an example of how academy potential doesn't always translate into the senior game. The stars have to align perfectly, and yes there are plenty of great players now, but there are so many more with a lot of talent who weren't lucky enough. If you're born with immense talent, but weak knees, you're done, and he is an example of that luck. But he is also an example of preserving, he loved football, and he did everything he could to play, he didn't let adversity get him down, I think he'd probably end up being a good coach one day too.

Yoo i love your vids man raymar. I got into football pretty late (around about after the 2018 world cup) so I really really appreciate these quality videos and look forward to vids where you talk about the older generation as I don't have a clue about that era. Your vids on the prev era footballers make me feel like it would've been so great to be involved with football back then.

Have to say- he showed excellent technique and class in Belgium. This is a success story imo- injuries are part of the game- and even though he's not at the level of his teammates- he's still playing and loving the game. Good on him-

Such a touching story, he still gave his best though he didn't get to the height he desired and I can understand it's his destiny. Messi and the rest got to where they are because they were destined to be. in all he is a great player.

amazing story ,the main thing which I've just seen below is that he didn't stop playing. As we've heard of many great young players that stop playing after an injury or being told no by one football club, an injury or a no does not define us what defines us is our actions after the negative. I wish this guy the most happiness and health for him and he's family.
