Ryland does not deserve all the hate he has been receiving. He knows who the real Shane is, and of course he is going to defend him. But we don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Maybe Ryland did get mad at Shane and confronted him about it. But he isn't going to leave him over past mistakes. Shane has grown as a person these past few years. Is he perfect? No. Is his past mistakes wrong and dishonorable? Yes. Everyone has a different journey and grows through life. When your young (as I am) you do a lot of stupid and wrong things. Im glad Ryland has stayed by Shane's side and been loyal. Canceling Ryland is not good. He doesn't deserve this.

As someone who’s watched Shane from the age of 9 or 10 to present day (21 years old), I’ve seen him grow, tremendously. Nothing excuses his past, but I believe he’s changed for the better. I still support him, although I don’t support the things he’s done in the past. He’s grown and learned over these years.
I’m right there with you! I was 7-8 when I first started watching his videos (now almost 19). People change & grow. It’s not an excuse but it sure is proof that they are putting in effort and bettering themselves.

a lot of people found shane’s old videos funny when they were young even though we are disgusted by them now as we have grown up. shane thought his videos were funny at one time, he grew as a person and got older and realized they are disgusting just like the rest of us. we’ve all said or done things ten years ago we regret, thankfully the majority of us don’t live our lives online.
Exactly. It's hard to not 'age slam' this, but I find that most of the people involved in 'cancelling' Shane, were barely old enough to understand words. I remember watching Shane in 2009/10, and finding his videos absolutely hilarious, as a 14 yr old female. His jokes didn't disgust me back then because that's what UA-cam was about. Being 'edgy' and 'crazy'. It's tough to see people who are barely 15 themselves, slandering him for videos in a time when they were still in diapers.
(of course this doesn't apply to everyone, and yes it's disgusting looking back on the content)

Everyone was ridiculously angry and everyone needed to calm down a little, so he let people calm down and then made a video, in the video he spoke about what happened, didnt defend shanes actions, addressed what he had to address and then went on to make content that people wanted to see so that maybe everybody would feel a little better and not focus so much on negativity because everyone needs a little more positivity.

Growing up extremely sheltered in a conservative Christian family, I am truly disgusted by who I was years ago. The real world showed itself to me, I educated myself and I am completely different today. All I’m saying is, I’m so glad I wasn’t on camera when I was that person.

I think it’s so sad that Ryland has to clarify why he isn’t wearing his rings. Like the internet is that petty and that full of sad people who love drama. He didn’t wear it for one cooking video and everyone speculated he was leaving Shane and that their relationship was over. Like that has to take a toll on someone. And it obviously has to some degree if he had to clarify in the beginning as to why he isn’t wearing his rings in this video. Rings don’t equate to love or anything. I’m married and I don’t wear my rings for various reasons. Doesn’t mean someone doesn’t love someone or that your relationship is over.

I’ve been watching Shane since 2010, and I have seen him grow and change for the better and I have been there through so much of his issues and I will continue too love and support him no matter what, he has changed my life for the better, I have suffered from depression and severe anxiety and Shane has saved me so many times and I just love him

I'm a recovering addict. I'm 12 years clean. People can change. I was a much different person when I was using. If people only judged me on that and didn't believe in me that I could change and get better i probably wouldn't be here today. Ive been married now for 8 years. Have a 21month old son And just bought a house. None of that would of happened if I didn't change and grow as a person. If I would of been judged also by that no one would of wanted to be with me and i wouldnt have my amazing little boy. Or my amazing husband. People can change for the better. As long as your moving forward and always working to better your self let the past live in the past.

What about when he told tana now that she's been 18 for one week she should see him naked and proceeded to encourage her to pee on him while "straddling" (his words) him. Kinda sus. Not saying he's an evil person or anything. I just think as a public figure of his capacity he should have someone look over the content that he's putting out. There are boundaries that should not be disregarding especially when you have a big following. I think it would also help him emotionally and mentally to have a content advisor.
@Becks Woof like ryland said despite how long ago it was some people view these things only now. Personally I was sexually abused as a child and watching that video which popped up on my feed only yesterday was extremely uncomfortable for me and I felt disappointed in him as a content creator. It doesn't mean I want him cancelled, i think he might be a good person and I'm glad he's grown but that video still upset me and that's ok. I don't have to like every video he puts out.

And in MY case, the person I was 10 years ago was vastly different from the person I am now, so I can understand people change and grow up

Ryland, just have to say, this is a PERFECT video. Seeing your humble beginnings and little tid-bits of what makes you tick was really interesting. Sure, we've seen the personal side of you before, but this felt so much more so. There's only a couple of times in allllll my years of watching videos on UA-cam have I felt a deeper, emotional understanding of the creator from their video, and THIS is one of those times. Also, your advice, by way of expressing your thoughts and opinions, was VERY well said. I truly hope people recognize it for what it was and able [and willing] to resonate with it.

I'm fully in support of forgiving and seeing people grow as a person and be better, but... With Shane, I just haven't seen that growth. Yeah, it's his past, but the level of severity of the things he's done ( racism and pedophilia) are just too extreme for me to easily let go of. Not to mention how he's handled these issues being brought up just... He really hasn't done that great of a job at handling it, to say the least. And I get it, confronting this shit must be extremely hard, but for him to then impulsively go live, say shit, tweet out shit etc just isn't a good idea imo.
I've watched these guys for years and I did enjoy Shane's content and his relationship with Ryan, his friends, and family, but now I myself have learned I shouldn't let things like this slide simply because I used to admire Shane. I just can't.

I’ve watched Shane since his Shnay’nay days. And have been going back to watch his every now and then for the past years. However, since he started doing the more serious documentary series he has definitely changed and has grown into a better person. We all grow and make mistakes. We own up to them and move on to do better things and I think that’s what Shane has done. Thanks Ryland for being there for him.

He tries to see the best in people and forgives people when they show they have worked to be forgiven. I love seeing meditation being talked about more frequently! I also use headspace every day. Im currently on day 369! I have grown so much since I started meditating, it's incredible. I encourage everyone to try it consistently, the growth you see not only within yourself, but in all of your relationships as well is truly amazing.
