Consider the attitude flipped, player idke, I will never forget this because what he said really resonated with me from a miss (I think on RoR but correct me if Im wrong). "Its okay I'm getting consistent".
it's crazy how people suddenly says he's "that one player with the dogshit mentality" just because he is crazily competitive at games he touches(your casual korean gamer), he simply knows he's better than most people on the game and he wanted to lowkey show it off without creating another happystick cry thunder drama. in the end all of his effort did came out as arrogancy to our eyes, a narrow prespective towards the game, and labeled as the player who drowned himself with negativity. but using him as an example on "negative attitude will hold you back" made me uncertain about it. he reached #1 with a wide gap and held the title as the best player for a long time by being harsh towards himself, forces himself to be the best 24/7 on solo plays/tourneys which is VERY common in competitive setting. it might not be the humblest attitude to have as a person, but that triggered his dedication towards anything he's tried. we all had the "i could've done so much better" mentality at one point, it's just that did we choose to express it with moderation or by being bold. neither are wrong or right, different people get different results and shige happened to be one of the bolder one. that's just a part of human nature. being harsh to yourself for the sake of pushing limits for you isn't entirely bad if you do it on moderation, i think this should be pointed out. because you could be the bigger fish than others, you know :)
I'm glad that you mentioned the moderation part. I don't believe there is anything wrong with having a competitive spirit or pushing yourself to be the best, especially in a tournament setting, but whenever I would watch Shigetora, it always felt like he was always one step past a healthy attitude and was nearing perfectionism. I included him as an example because he's one of the greatest players to ever touch the game, and most people would recognize who he was and what they could learn from him. There's a lot of positive things you can learn from Shigetora/other top players, but one of the potentially negative aspects of his playstyle is that crazy competitiveness. It has a place, but for most people, it's simply too overwhelming and can harm their mental health in the future.
very true. i agree with the perfectionism part, it's actually crazy how he could keep playing at such a high level without really showing any kinds of pressure while maintaining that attitude towards competition. most people would've thrown a middle finger to the game if they failed such a high ideal which usually leads to they become an asshole towards others, they quit, or secretly cheating their way out of frustration. anyway, this video is well made. appreciate the effort that you put in towards your work man :D

Imagine having this issue, but with mapping, not performing. Just imagine being like that with mapping instead of playing the game ( that "Farm map" quote really got to me )
There is definitely a mapping angle to this as well. I didn't address it since my audience is primarily players, but it would make for an interesting discussion. For example, some mappers feel entitled to ranking a map and believe the process should be easier for them, others feel overconfident about their mapping skills, and a few people who are truly talented are not recognized because they rarely interact with a wide scope of mappers. Another issue is that beatmap nominators, abbreviated as BNs, nominate each other's maps (nicknamed circlejerking when done excessively), which makes the ranking process MUCH easier for them compared to a normal mapper, causing a BN's perspective to become distorted. You know, I really should create a video describing this. Thanks for the idea!

Bad days really are a crazy phenomenon. For me theres two ways how a "bad day" turns out: 1. I try to just play on my normal comfort zone without warming up, thus tilting when i can't perform. 2. I used to play osu! back in 2015, but felt lackluster because my friend always ask me to play 3-5 stars map meanwhile I just started. Then after a few months, I quitted because of their pace. Over the years, I only played alone yet never felt I got better. That was until a few months ago. Going through some kind of tournament mappool (preferably one that could be aimed at players around or slightly higher than your current skill level) as a warmup whenever you play seems to be a pretty nice way of enjoying multiple aspects of the game and improving at them over time all while warming up. I recommend people to try this if you want to become more comfortable at different mods, some people will be finding very hard maps in there every now and yeah things like that can really put you down but if you stick with it you'll slowly start learning how to deal with those hard maps. Hey well I’m coming back to this video after a three days and thinking about my own mental health. At the moment I’m actually using osu! as kinda of a relaxing break from apex legends. Played that game for about 4000 hours since launch and I’m not really having fun playing forced squads all day. This game with its custom aesthetics, nice and costom playlist of music and wow it’s SOLO. I’m actually having a lot of fun and enjoying myself on a game for once in a long while. Idc if anyone responds or likes just think about your time and happiness first. Rank, skins, events can always be viewed later or grinder for later. If you’re not having fun what’s the point. It is just a game. GLHF out there.
really nice and well done video :) I'm up for editing your videos if you ever so require, and good luck in your academics as we all struggle through the pandemic
This happened to me as well. I was playing beat saber pretty unenjoyably for a few days. Then suddenly my mentality just clicked, I was enjoying the game. 15 minutes later I beat My top play, breaking a barrier I had struggled beating for 3 months.
I have an issue Idk how fast I can stream even though my clicks on the side look fast as fuck, *but* I keep missing half of the notes of a stream(not aim issue) And it makes me self conscious about my speed cause that's what I'm proud of in literally every single game Also is it normal for me to basically shit myself when looking at white cat's plays? All I think is "why is that possible in osu what the actual fuck" is that an ok perspective And are the people that tell me "you're good for your playtime" helping? Like, if I had 2 people encouraging me is that good enough to offset like 4 people telling me I'm ass?
i was a player that improved pretty fast, got to like 180k then i lost interest in the game for other games. now every time i try to return i cant. it feels like i'll never be as good as i was, and i compare myself to my friends who never stopped playing and are now 5 digit and it demoralises me
Ive been playing for almost 2 years now and im finally 100k lmao i improve slow you could say but ive been enjoying the game and im gonna keep at it -Plz enjoy game
Okay don't try to hide it this video's sole purpose is advertising your Fall Guys video and that other one, no doubt about it; qed For real though, yet another well made video, sadly with stuff I can relate to when it comes to bad aspects like expecting to consisntently play at a higher level than you are actually capable of. Also how dare you utter words not aligned with *g o d Shige's* views hms
Inspirational u.u even though I feel like I have a lot more plays than other players at my skill lvl I feel like I went through many of these things in my own head but for some reason kept going back to a more narrow perspective that got me into a bad mood.
Okay hear me out here, so I don't compare myself to the players that have played more than me or even players that have played the same amout of time as me. I compare my self to my friends who have one half or one third of my play time, and I am actively trying to improve past them everyday while they play rearly if at all, and they are same as me or better in some skillets. That is what I compare myself to, i still try to be better then them but sometimes I just ask myself why because I have tryed so much more than them and they are basically better then me. Only thing I gained was consistency but in like peak skill they are better, let's say we play a 5* consistency map I'll win, if we play a 6* jump map they are probably going to win unless I get lucky. And I have been practicing streams on a lot of different maps for the past three months, and somehow my friend who has half of my playtime, who has never practiced streams, and who plays mostly almost only jumps is better than me at them. Why.
I'm just ranting at this point I'm sorry, I understand that different people have different rates of improvement it's just frustrating sometimes when u try so hard and someone just has more talent and wins.
I just started watching the video btw I'll watch it now and probably regret typing this out because I just sound like another kid who can't accept defeat. I just needed to rant somewhere and I don't know why I did it here. I'm sorry.
Everything that he says about one's improvement I agree and I have no problems with that, I know my comfort zone and I know where I'll perform good. It's just that when me and my friend play something that's outside of our comfort zones he is gonna be better and I just don't get it but I'm fine now. And I'm streaming on twitch some days so if u want to watch me practice streams and cry when I can't hit spaced streams come and watch at twitch.tv/djokitheking this sounds like an ad for my twitch channel but beleve me it's just a rant and I thru that in whit it. Edit: I threw that in with it* sorry for shit English
I’m exactly the same 😅I have about 6 days play time, my brother has like 2 and even tho my accuracy is a lot better than his, he’s still slighter better than me and he improved so much faster than me and It’s frustrating since we are both so competitive lol
Thank you for the video, it made me realize about things i do wich are not really healthy. Wich i didnt realize before. Mymentalhealth is very bad atm due to coronalonelyness so i found osu as a coping mechanism, a place where i can keep my mind of very important things like having no friends to talk to atm (cuz i moved recently) in retrospect i really just need to find new people not play osu for 7 hours a day. I am improving like crazy tough. But thats besides the point. I am rageing sometimes if a map doesnt go like i want to. Wich issnt good. I skip gym, and delay my schoolwork to play osu. I am obsessed with osu. And i dont know how to unobsess with osu. And this video made me realize that i have a unhealthy problem wich i need to work on. Do you know of any tips to stop obsessing so much?
My situation is similar regards to wanting to play osu. What I do is stop playing, let me elaborate. I set a time at which I will start doing homework or go to the gym etc. Regardless of whether by the end of that time I'm feeling good or bad about osu, or i want to keep playing, I force myself to stop. I then star listening to my favorite music and I get to work. I know that it that it isn't a simple as just stopping, but for that reason you have to force yourself to stop. Playing music helps me get into the mood of doing other things and it could help you aswell.
Envision the life you could have if you spent time investing in the development of yourself. By 2021 you could be in the best shape of your life, sleeping a quality 8 - 9 hours a night, organize your physical and mental space, read 10 books on 1 topic, start a business and increase your networth, pick up a few hobbies, etc. Does sinking thousands of hours into Osu help you achieve your best life and peak self? no. Can you still play the game and improve? of course. in fact, by improving your general health you will most likely see major improvements in your mentality towards the game and how quickly you improve. Just a word of advice man, if you are still in your youth don't squander it away in a dark room tapping circles man. You'll be missing out on a lot of other beautiful things in life man. The more you put in, the more you'll get out.
Scuze me. The issue of a player who cares too much about winnig isn't the game, It's about expecting yourself to performa a certain way and then failing to do so. Don't put everyone in the same basket and frankly sound so Above players who just want to improve to a certain degree, either your tone is just that normally or you actually thing lower of players who want to put a lot more into the game and have yet to figure out how to do that, You've been there, I've been there a lot of players were there.
What sucks is having 80k play counts and being 50k well some 10k players only have 10 play counts. But can they read old maps, or play with ez? Maybe but maybe not
Also have to know that people might have been banned or just play offline. And I think it is really rare to see 4 digits or aound 10k players only having 10k playcount, if thats theyre real playcount (like only playing online and not offline).
What if u feel like it dosent matter that people who dont play will think you are impressive because if they played theyd probably be better than you if they had the same playtime
great video osu! kfc pfp i love you but mind stop calling shige "the best" i get it him like the many infamous players that left an impact on osu! from a player or mapper should be touted with labels but... no one the "best" forever to it's imo not about being "the best" the journey not the accolades & the infamy that comes with doing the so called unthinkable and pushing the boundaries of *insert game here* this is just my take on this i know few others who get dubbed "the best" too and i find it odd personally.
can pass x star map!? cool. just don't try to brag about it you can FC a 8 star!? cool. this literally won't make sense to many people nor isn't impressive to a good bit of people too. Freedom dive HDDTHR FC!? this is complete gibberish to a lot of people even just maybe even, a language of it's own as i play fighting games too (wonder if any one who plays osu! does) both fighting games and rhythm games share a lot in common. Both share lots in common, with one being "i want to be No.1." and the grinds & paths to playing at the top Lv the channel *Core-A-gaming* does top notch videos to video analysis on topics about fighting games also mixes history in *so you actually learning* it get's really deep one of which was the video on the need for community which oddly isn't one of his videos with 1 million views atm only 486k views near 500k views im lost on why as every thing and all games have a *community* no matter how small to as social beings community is what we all seek the video is a great watch gives you *perspective* on things i'll leave it here ua-cam.com/video/M8055HIDm1A/v-deo.html the main person of the channel is named gerald has a group who aids on making videos, own's Core-A-Studio's has a event space in korea too he streams on Twitch at times will hold community events on it too mainly plays Tekken but might catch something different www.twitch.tv/coreagaming
Because you might have a bad mindset, play too much in one session, play the wrong maps whilst the other person with half the hours plays just the right amount of hours, knows when to not play, knows when to play, appreciates his skills, plays the right maps, has a good mindset. Mentality is the biggest factor for improvement, which is why I find osu such a unique game once you realise this. Osu is not just about clicking circles for getting better, you need a good structure for it to actually work and that takes some skill with thinking.
your sarcasm and satire against these "narrow perspective" players seem highly critical and belittling. you say that you aren't immune to this perspective either, but the way you portray yourself as someone who can change his perspective at will makes you come across as arrogant and superior to others. what's the point of this video? To convince others to change their perspective or to belittle those with lack of perspective? This is what I gathered from the last half of this video. Cookiezi is one of the best players of all time, but has a very bad attitude towards the game. He complains and feels annoyed when he can't match his own absurdly high expectations when 99% of the players would be lucky to even come close to his scores. Unlike Cookiezi, I am grateful for however amount of views I get, even if my non-osu related videos did not gather as much attention as my osu-related videos. I'm the embodiment of having a good perspective. to show my views this, I'll be taking on a schedule with school with a good perspective. If i had a bad perspective, I would burn out quickly. Sure, I might have some issues sometimes, but I'm quick to bounce back on my feet and get back on a good perspective.

jolene (or tokaku) did a video on this ua-cam.com/video/mInm7hN_2Wg/v-deo.html to then this joke video ua-cam.com/video/MWlYHEm1_4w/v-deo.html also comes into play it's seriously about perspective and if said person your trying to flex on get's what's going on and can comprehend the things to then feel the actual skill needed but NEVER FLEX!
So 48h an a pass on 5*...jesus I cant even get a 4*pass with like 20h ingame
Very well said, you've grown up bruv
ngl these concepts apply for pretty much any game lol
Thank you for the advice ^0^
Your fall guy video was epic and funny
To all the 5 digits here, you are all gods, i cant even see the damn circles
Guys If you restart a map more than 17times just Go for a Walk real quick
My body stops me from playing too much osu everyday, my eyes hurt, and my hands start to shake, there's no way I can play 6 hours per day
I like the “footage not available” on leaving the computer and going outside
really nice and well done video :) I'm up for editing your videos if you ever so require, and good luck in your academics as we all struggle through the pandemic
This happened to me as well. I was playing beat saber pretty unenjoyably for a few days. Then suddenly my mentality just clicked, I was enjoying the game. 15 minutes later I beat My top play, breaking a barrier I had struggled beating for 3 months.
my mentality is ruined with or without circles
kinda more well rounded when i am hitting circles if i had to choose
I have an issue
Idk how fast I can stream even though my clicks on the side look fast as fuck, *but* I keep missing half of the notes of a stream(not aim issue)
And it makes me self conscious about my speed cause that's what I'm proud of in literally every single game
Also is it normal for me to basically shit myself when looking at white cat's plays? All I think is "why is that possible in osu what the actual fuck" is that an ok perspective
And are the people that tell me "you're good for your playtime" helping? Like, if I had 2 people encouraging me is that good enough to offset like 4 people telling me I'm ass?
So i am an osu sage, damn bruh not a bad title to have.
why am I angry about my slow progression when I play for about an hour late in the evening everyday
i was a player that improved pretty fast, got to like 180k then i lost interest in the game for other games. now every time i try to return i cant. it feels like i'll never be as good as i was, and i compare myself to my friends who never stopped playing and are now 5 digit and it demoralises me
Probably need to work on my perspective
*I emotionally mentally physically cannot think of a joke.*
so it was YOU who made that osu anon post... very nice
I thought the same :0
Ive been playing for almost 2 years now and im finally 100k lmao i improve slow you could say but ive been enjoying the game and im gonna keep at it -Plz enjoy game
what’s you’re play time?

Okay don't try to hide it this video's sole purpose is advertising your Fall Guys video and that other one, no doubt about it; qed
For real though, yet another well made video, sadly with stuff I can relate to when it comes to bad aspects like expecting to consisntently play at a higher level than you are actually capable of. Also how dare you utter words not aligned with *g o d Shige's* views hms
oh no he figured it out.... it seems to have worked though :)
thanks for the comment!
You can only be good if your born with natural talent
When you're just watching a normal osu video but learned psychology instead
Inspirational u.u even though I feel like I have a lot more plays than other players at my skill lvl
I feel like I went through many of these things in my own head but for some reason kept going back to a more narrow perspective that got me into a bad mood.
If the earth is round then where are the approach circles 🤔
I screamed when he said "You are don't get me wrong", not good for mental health.
I have a feeling this video has a backstory to it by the way he’s talking XD
Self deprecation is my passion
Thats cool and all but what is even better is that 3000x combo in the background like wtf lol
My mental health:
**fails a map**
_i deserve to die_
2:20 And what if someone is half my rank with half my playtime?
They are probably a pp farmer that is not improving just playing for rank
I feel personally attacked. Thanks for this video
7:37 what map is that?
OH YEAH NEW VIDEO UWUWUWUWW
Understandebale, have a nice day.
and this is why i picked up mania
now i play 4hrs each B-)B-)
DT12 here. I know the feel of thinking someone is way better then you
Over 240 thousand people to be exact
i got hurt while you talked
New Title:
a new 5 digit trying to explain how much better he is than his (100K) 6 digit friend
What is the skin used in the video
What sucks is having 80k play counts and being 50k well some 10k players only have 10 play counts. But can they read old maps, or play with ez? Maybe but maybe not
Also have to know that people might have been banned or just play offline. And I think it is really rare to see 4 digits or aound 10k players only having 10k playcount, if thats theyre real playcount (like only playing online and not offline).
Got this recommended after seeing another fieryrage twitter rant
Oh this guy tweeted about mental health on osu anonymous 😂

What if u feel like it dosent matter that people who dont play will think you are impressive because if they played theyd probably be better than you if they had the same playtime
You sound like Ettienne xD

Did you really just distract me?
Just pls enjoy game :)
great video osu! kfc pfp i love you but mind stop calling shige "the best" i get it him like the many infamous players that left an impact on osu! from a player or mapper should be touted with labels but... no one the "best" forever to it's imo not about being "the best" the journey not the accolades & the infamy that comes with doing the so called unthinkable and pushing the boundaries of *insert game here* this is just my take on this i know few others who get dubbed "the best" too and i find it odd personally.
Poggo
can pass x star map!? cool. just don't try to brag about it you can FC a 8 star!? cool. this literally won't make sense to many people nor isn't impressive to a good bit of people too.
Freedom dive HDDTHR FC!? this is complete gibberish to a lot of people even just maybe even, a language of it's own as i play fighting games too (wonder if any one who plays osu! does) both fighting games and rhythm games share a lot in common.
Both share lots in common, with one being "i want to be No.1." and the grinds & paths to playing at the top Lv the channel *Core-A-gaming* does top notch videos to video analysis on topics about fighting games also mixes history in *so you actually learning* it get's really deep one of which was the video on the need for community which oddly isn't one of his videos with 1 million views atm only 486k views near 500k views im lost on why as every thing and all games have a *community* no matter how small to as social beings community is what we all seek the video is a great watch gives you *perspective* on things i'll leave it here ua-cam.com/video/M8055HIDm1A/v-deo.html
the main person of the channel is named gerald has a group who aids on making videos, own's Core-A-Studio's has a event space in korea too he streams on Twitch at times will hold community events on it too mainly plays Tekken but might catch something different www.twitch.tv/coreagaming
csgo is 1000% easier to imporve tha osu and more if u play with mouse
Until your last vid i thought it was pronounced (rie-yuk)
Mmm that UR tho
Kindof weird to talk about players that are gone am i the only one who thinks that
tbh I'm #2 lol
this whole video is irreverent there are people better than me with like half the hours
Ikr
Yes
Because you might have a bad mindset, play too much in one session, play the wrong maps whilst the other person with half the hours plays just the right amount of hours, knows when to not play, knows when to play, appreciates his skills, plays the right maps, has a good mindset. Mentality is the biggest factor for improvement, which is why I find osu such a unique game once you realise this. Osu is not just about clicking circles for getting better, you need a good structure for it to actually work and that takes some skill with thinking.
Man, just let go of the worries. It's nothing to stress over.

your sarcasm and satire against these "narrow perspective" players seem highly critical and belittling. you say that you aren't immune to this perspective either, but the way you portray yourself as someone who can change his perspective at will makes you come across as arrogant and superior to others. what's the point of this video?
Andy Kim why not both? lack of perspective is bad everywhere
@@indexy1580 sorry. I don't follow. Can you explain more about what you mean?
