Buddy of mine had an all original DZ302 powered '69 Camaro in the ate '80s. It was restored to factory spec on everything. Solid lifter cam and all. The cross ram dual quad intake manifolds for these engines are soo rare its almost unheard of. Supposedly, with headers and dual quads they put out over 500hp.

Casey mentions growing up in Levittown Long Island. I'm sure he recalls Hempstead turnpike and Burger King. That was the spot for cruising and having stop light to stop light drags. I grew up in Farmingdale, just a town or two over. I spent several years on Hempstead turnpike and I think I recall this car and Casey. In fact, we might have tangled a time or two (if this is the car) when it was in more stock form - in the late eighties ('87/'88). I had just bought a new '87 Buick Grand National. Casey mentions lining up with a friend to race on the street back then, but the cops broke it up. I bet that race was to take place on either New Bridge Road in East Meadow, or Route 109 in Farmingdale. Those were the two main spots for an organized race. Both roads were concrete, rather than asphalt - better for off the line traction. Lot's of fun back then, great memories. If this is the car (and gentlemen) I recall from back then, great to see that both are doing well.

If you spun your tires just a bit in the water or if the water area was long enough just to roll thru and wet the whole tire, just hold the steering wheel still, the line lock is set, both front wheels stay still and you hold the car straight. Pure Stock, they were sloth slow turds. All show and no go. My pure stock 1969 Boss 302 Mustang used to eat '67-'69 Z./28 Camaros for snacks. Even today, it would give this car a good race. It does high 11's on drag radials and closed exhaust with a 4:30 Detroit Locker rear differential. It's 100% all Ford legal components for pure stock. I bought the car new at TASCA Ford in RI. It's a bit rare because it has every option that was available for that year. NE Nationals in 2022, it turned an 11.6 and an 11.7 on an 11.5 dial-in. Yes, it won it's bracket.

Exactly how are you going to "eat" this car? You are bragging about running 11.7 and he is running 11.0-11.2. If he cuts a good light you are looking at his taillights at the finish line. You better not bring that car to north Alabama, if you can't run within a couple thousandths of your dial, you are going to the trailer.

Given one day, and my '69 Boss 302 would eat this '69 Z/28 for breakfast.
