To remove the fuel pressure, start your car and remove fuse 2 from the small fuse block in front of the battery.
Why not empty the tank and drop it to fix the fuel pump issues?
Difficult to do without a lift on the XWD as you have to drop more than just the tank. There is other stuff in the way

I just finished cutting an access panel on my Ford and would like to offer 3 tips on doing a safer job. 1. Pull your vehicle to a safer location, in case there is a fire. A garage full of other vehicles is not the place you want to be, if there is a fire. 2. Wear leather gloves, cut metal is like handling glass. 3. Have a proper fire extinguisher for putting out a gas fire, water is not good on a gas fire.
So you cut way more metal under the seat than needed? Only that little circle section needed to be cut?
Yes this was years ago and I had no knowledge of where the pump was. I utilized a broken down parts car by cutting open the entire backseat to find the pump then used a cardboard stencil to make the smaller fuel pump hole on the daily driver.
What year and engine is this model ?
