I prefer the Reverse Tillers. A lot of people says it robs too much HP from the tractor. Of course we all have different opinions especially here in West Virginia. Glad your channel is growing Bill.
Hi Dean, I agree with your opinion regarding the reverse tilling design. I tilled a garden last night for a friend and he had real dirt to till. It took two passes but turned the dirt to a soft fluffy consistency. No rocks, and it was fun to do. I never thought about the HP. My HP seems unaffected. Enjoy the rest of your week. Thanks for your support- Bill
Hi Bill! Checking in from Moncks Corner SC. Funny enough I grew up near Dubuque in Hanover IL. I left the area about 32 years ago but still have family and headed to Dubuque this weekend for a family birthday party. I have the exact same JD 2038R set up as you and traded my 1025r in on it about 6 mths ago and love the upgrade. Great Channel!
Good morning Toby, thanks for sharing your wonderful story about living in Hanover and then coming to Dubuque this weekend that’s terrific. I hope you enjoy your 2038 as much as I enjoy mine. Have a safe trip, you’re in for very nice weather here during your visit. I’ll get you on the viewers map.-Bill
I have a Woods tiller that is 74". I put mine on 4x6 beam parts to keep the tines off the ground to allow me to turn the tines if needed when hooking up.
The tiller did a great job. And the area looks great with the new grass. I see you have pieces of mesh from the straw blankets wound up in the tiller. Myself I regret using that stuff. I'll be picking up pieces for next year, beside pulling it out of the mower deck spindles. Hope you had better luck with it than I did.
Hello Michael OMG I dislike that mesh sooooo much!! They advertise it will rot away, but you and I know it’ll still be here in 100 years! Thanks for checking in Michael I sure appreciate it have a great week. -Bill
Great information for new rotary tiller user. Bill I finally decided to purchase a King Kutter 54 inch for my B2601. Your videos are what sold me on the tiller versus disc. Thanks!
Good morning R3ddog, congratulations on your purchase. I know you’ll love it. Glad to hear the videos helped you with your decision. Have fun with it, and enjoy the week ahead. - Bill
Hello Bill. I enjoyed watching your informative video. The lawn turned out fabulous. I wish I had a lawn as nice as that. I seem to be doing battle with moles and other lawn critters which seems to be a constant annual battle. One day I'll get it to where I want it. Have a fine week. Wow, that's a big tiller Bill. I wondered how well the 2038r would handle it. I have a 4ft one from my old 1025r and would like to upgrade to a 5 or 6ft. But had heard the 6ft was too much for the 2038r. Looks like yours worked well! I find the tiller to be a valuable landscape tool. Mine has been very handy!
Hello RJ, I just tilled a 24x50 garden this afternoon and the tiller and 2038 did a terrific job. I would challenge anyone that said it was too big. Have fun searching for the best tiller my friend. -Bill
@@billburkhart I found the person today who said it. Tractor Time with Tim, again in his video released today that the 6ft was too much for the 2032 or 2038r and he recommended a 4 or 5ft tiller. 4 seems too small and that's what I have now. I was thinking a 5ft, but your video was encouraging to get a 6ft.
@@rjmack3790 I disagree with anyone that tells you this tiller is too large. My next video shows the tiller breaking open a new garden in hard dirt, no rocks, and it works beautifully. You should water lawn with a well. Be cheaper then paying for water from the county water department. I have a well and I water mine all the time. Never had any issues.
Rewatched again! Love the content. You ever thought about a contest for your subscribers where the winner is able to come out and work with you? I would absolutely love it and sign up!
Interesting that you said you don't water the lawn since you are on a well. Understanding that you are in the mid west and you don't really need to water the lawn, having a well is exactly the reason why I would. My current home is on city water and that is why I don't water my lawn.. I can't afford to pay for the water but on the well, the only cost is electricity which isn't much.
Good morning Travis, Iowa is just coming out of a drought so I’ve been very concerned with my well depth here. Your point about the cost of electricity is correct, but don’t forget about the well pump has a life also. I’m on my second pump after getting 20 years on the first pump. Thanks for checking in. -Bill
