We get this thing called a Meowbox, and it came with a little cowboy hat this month. I was so excited, but my wife had no idea what I was going on about when I put it on and said, "hated it!"
David Alan Grier is MEGA talented, it’s incredible. I LOVE his acting, stage work (especially as the Lion on Wiz), singing, huge range from romcom to serious, comedy. He’s brilliant and gifted!
I don’t understand why every single podcast with two stars on it can’t all have this level of conversation. One of the best pods I’ve ever enjoyed in my entire life.
Wow! Talk about growing old. I'm a millenial who grew up with reruns of In Living Color. And David's great performance in Jumanji. I've grown into adulthood with David Alan Grier. So nice to watch this.
Hahaha yes! Jumanji! When he sees the stampede coming,,,, then the lazy huffing rhino in the rear haha… (or maybe it was the monkeys,, it’s been a long time),,,,, awesome
Okay... David Alan Grier is just cold-bloodedly the funniest guy. Period. His sense of timing and dead-pan is laser sharp. There is only one person - on earth - who could pull off Al Simmons, the man with no soul. I have been a fan for a very long time. If he came anywhere near my area, I would definitely be there. Super fans indeed. Awesome video and the best guest yet.
Hell yes,,,, I remember being like 11 years old and recording every episode of In Living Color on VHS… live.… something so nostalgic about Grier….. love this dude 👏🙌
Just watched Blankman and its good to see him pop up on my feed. DAG is so funny and appropriate in everything. His cameo in They Cloned Tyrone was great too.
I am 39 years old. I have followed David since I was 5. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview and hopes he knows how much he means to our culture and to the fabric of Hollywood. -DestineeMaree
This was very good interview the respect amongst them is palpable. Feels like you're overhearing a private conversation between 2 accomplished individuals. Wowww
Omg DAG is my one true celebrity sighting. I was 18 and was at Tower Records in W. Hollywood & I decided to just let him cruise through music peacefully because noone else was making a big deal. Now I'm listening to him talk about the pet store interaction.
My mom remembers seeing David Alan Grier in a play at Yale many years ago. I remember him mostly from In Living Color and Blankman and probably many other things from the 90’s.
One minute in and Neal just unlocked a memory I didn't know I had of Robert Townsend's show! I had to be in the single digit age range when that was on.
I will never forget the very first time I saw David Alan Greer.... "Amazon Women on the Moon"! ..... Dancing to "Tie a Yellow Ribbon". It's still very clear in my head. So funny!!!
Such a down to earth and humble guy. The fact he participates in a healthy level of trolling is too funny. Sounds like we need more people like this in the media.
So satisfying to see a person who was part of my growing up years tv/movie/laugh soundtrack- is in fact exactly as wonderful as I thought he was.💖✨💖 Thank you Neal!
~ I totally get how sarcasm and satire go over folks head on the net. Tbf, I believe people have a hard time recognizing elements of dark humor from Black folks because they need more contrast.
This 1 ain't just 4 tha algo y'all. DAG is like a 94 out of 100 on the Sidney Poitier underrating scale. He's fantastic in, all of it. Nice to hear people are hitting him with those🌹 Great stuff fellas🌹💐
A truly great actor who also happens to be one of the funniest motherfuckers ever. Thanks for this one. Only thing I was kind of bummed about was that you didn't talk about The Carmichael Show at all - he was amazing on that one.
Oh my god DAG! Comedy greatness. Watching him since I was 4!!!! (Brennan, can we kiss ????? -- sorry to your gf --for the love god 🥵🥵🥵 #forthealgo #beeslovebrennan)
One of the funniest people i ever seen. Some people just strike your funny nerve no matter who what and when and for me, David is one of those guys. 😂 thank you Brother Brennan. Solid and interesting episode as always
Instead of a thumbs up button, I wanna click a "two snaps with a twist" button. 😍👏🏻🙌🏻

You 50+?😂
Despite the interviewer's seemingly lack of interest and dismissive attitude, it was a really good interview.
“Hated it!!” 👎 👎
WTF, I just came to make this comment again, my memory is getting worse

Neal isn't afraid to dive into real human experiences. That's what makes him so good.
Not everybody is this smart and introspective.
David is seriously one of my favorite famous people, I feel like he is everyone’s hilarious uncle
Racist uncle
i thought he was funny even when i was a little kid watching the movies he was in. boomerang, blank man, in the army now
Thank you Neal for getting David Alaln Grier. I'm such a huge fan, and we never get to sit down with people like David.
David Alan Grier is on of the strongest talents ever. Such a huge fan. And I love his down to earth persona.
Definitively an unsung hero. I'm so happy to hear his voice again
In living color should have been a 40 year institution. Great show.
Yes
Out of In Living Color and Mad TV and SNL it's sad SNL was the only one to survive.
@@nerfherder4284its because its the best sketch show of all time. Chappelle was 2nd. Mad and living color were boring
There was a lot of accusations against the writers, that's what happened.
Had it not been used as a slave farm for the creation of Fox News sure.

You grew up with the reruns. I watched the episodes when they originally aired. “Talk about growing old” is a true statement! 😅

Been a fan since in living color. He's the man.
David Alan Grier is one of the few funny people who makes you laugh before the joke begins.
THIS
He's hilarious. I'm not American but I watch his videos with a Wayans brother and I can't wait for them to say 'hated it'!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LEGEND! We ❤ David Alan Grier! We love you too Neal 💜
Hell yes,,,, I remember being like 11 years old and recording every episode of In Living Color on VHS… live.… something so nostalgic about Grier….. love this dude 👏🙌
I saw the name of the guest and said "Ooooooh. This is going to be good" OUT LOUD. Love DAG!
I know The Carmichael Show wasn’t on very long. But he is definitely on top of the list of best sitcom dad of all time!
Him and Loretta Devine together on TV! If only for shortwhile that was a real treat
Joe Carmichael is my world !
I could’ve listened to another two hours of this conversation. Another great show. Thanks Neal
Just watched Blankman and its good to see him pop up on my feed. DAG is so funny and appropriate in everything. His cameo in They Cloned Tyrone was great too.
Watched this man for years on in living color but he truly won me and my brothers hearts watching Blankman
I love this man!
(Eta, no ad reads in this episode, what a treat!)
David seemed so happy to get out the house, he could have talked for 4 hours and I would have listened to the whole damn thing. Great episode.
It was like having a netflix special in the 60s😂. I needed this Episode. Very very intertaining without going over the top.
Love you DAG, since In Living Color! Neil, I love your interviewing style. Thank you both. Wanted this interview to be longer 🙂
This was a really great interview. And loved learning more about him. Thank you Neal.
17:27 David Alan Grier has the most satisfying laugh! I'd do whatever it took to make him laugh, total win 😅
Take *
Another fantastic guest.

The amount of time that Levar Burton’s photo was left on screen was hilarious. Nice editing.
Hope this is the start of many a podcast to come where David'll be a guest on.
He did "The Breakfast Club" last week! (video's on their channel)
Love this one !!!! David is a master of the craft !!!!!!!!!!
Neal, you asked really good questions in this interview. Great episode.
Seeing DAG in this interview having this comfy conversation is making me smile. I’ve always felt like the screen never had enough of him.
One of the GOATs of comedy. Super glad we got this talk!
This was very good interview the respect amongst them is palpable. Feels like you're overhearing a private conversation between 2 accomplished individuals. Wowww
I've never felt that I saw enough of DAG's work. It was great to see a conversation with him.
48:20 Yup. Thank you both. You made us smile. Bringing happiness to the masses is a service.
Wo, what a great talk. David , gonna need another 2 hours.

Yet another great great episode, starting to see a pattern here.
I will never forget the very first time I saw David Alan Greer.... "Amazon Women on the Moon"! ..... Dancing to "Tie a Yellow Ribbon". It's still very clear in my head. So funny!!!
David is a living legend.
David Alan Grier is the OG!!!
DAG was my favorite Champs episode. Probably the most underappreciated living mainstream comedian
He did some great work in the radio broadcast adaptations of Star Wars back in the day. It makes total sense that he's a great voice actor.
I loved COOL KIDS and was sad when it ended after one season. It was so good! David Alan Grier is always so funny!
TWO TIME GUEST OF THE CHAMPS PODCAST!
Amazing!! What a legend!!❤❤
I could have listened to this seriously for another hour and 12 minutes and 14 seconds. David is the best!
DAVID ALAN GRIER!!! god damn yes
The bubbles in Neal's beverage kept me captivated for this entire video.
I really love listening to this man speak. I just started listening to Neal’s podcasts and he really is a classy interviewer.
We need a beard off with David Alan Grier and David Cross. 2 Davids with all the beard!
I see David Alan Grier, I click!
Such a badass, thanks for every laugh and good time, that's a lot! ❤
Love the interview
Another great show!!! I need the end credit song released!!! I love it
“That is a falsehood” had me in stitches 😂😂
This is going to be a godlike episode holy shit
I'm so grateful for the thoughtful and hilarious editing.
Thanks, Neal!
This is great! DAG is such a good dude.
I audibly gasped with excitement when I saw the guest's name.
Such a down to earth and humble guy. The fact he participates in a healthy level of trolling is too funny. Sounds like we need more people like this in the media.
DAG is a legend. Im so glad he dropped Adam carolla
😅 I was thinking adam.
This is fantastic.
So satisfying to see a person who was part of my growing up years tv/movie/laugh soundtrack- is in fact exactly as wonderful as I thought he was.💖✨💖
Thank you Neal!
Ayyye, it's David Allen 🔥
Brilliant Human. Thanks for this.

Tbf, I believe people have a hard time recognizing elements of dark humor from Black folks because they need more contrast.
One of the best interviews. Enjoyed this tremendously. I started loving David's career in Amazon Women on the Moon.
Brilliant dramatic actor. Brilliant comic actor. Brilliant stand-up comedian. Good singer. I admire DAG a great deal.
stoked for this
Neil let the guest finish their thought. Please man
LAWD!!! What YOU said....😅

I look at DAG and smile. He brings some good memories of watching in living color. 😂
This is a really well produced show. Lowkey the best edited show too
He interrupts the moment DAG is making his thoughts clear. Very shitty interjections
@@JaviEngineer
Yea he is better at being interviewed than interviewing for sure
David is a WHOLE legend. Dope episode.
A truly great actor who also happens to be one of the funniest motherfuckers ever. Thanks for this one. Only thing I was kind of bummed about was that you didn't talk about The Carmichael Show at all - he was amazing on that one.
I’ve only gone through a little bit of the comment thread, but I feel like an unspoken thing about the first few minutes is Carolla
David Alan Grier is the G.O.A.T !
David silently taught me something without saying nothing.ill forever keep this with me.
David Alan Grier is so, so good!
I love this guy. Funny but genuine at the same time.
Don’t know why but I think this is my favorite interview
You can’t get perspective without getting perspective 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾…So true
Great talk!
David Alan Grier is a national treasure.
David couldn't look better.
Love this.
Fantastic interview. I'm headed over to ebay for that Grier tshirt. Also, nice work leaving LeVar Burton's image up for a few extra beats-hilarious.
Awesome interview.
Holy crap his dad sounds like David doing an impression! Always loved David. Great convo
Exactly. It sounds like it's him making fun of his dad
